Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!
Chapter 44: The Cooperation Between Sebastian Prescott and Sienna Monroe (Fully Revised)
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 44: THE COOPERATION BETWEEN SEBASTIAN PRESCOTT AND SIENNA MONROE (FULLY REVISED)
The Imperial City was bustling with traffic under the evening dusk, neon lights shining brilliantly.
Sienna Monroe invited Sebastian Prescott to dinner, booking a rather upscale and luxurious western restaurant.
When she arrived, the pianist was playing "La La Land", the golden evening sun pouring through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, casting light on the pianist in his tailcoat suit.
For a moment, she found herself lost in memories.
She remembered in the first year of their relationship, she and Caleb Sinclair watched this movie together. She cried her heart out because of the ending, and he said, "I’ll love you, love you always." Later, on her birthday that year, he played "La La Land" for her himself.
He couldn’t play the piano; he learned that piece just for her.
"’La La Land’"
A dark shadow blocked the light behind her head, a cold and low voice drifted to her ears along with the pleasant and soothing melody.
Sienna Monroe was momentarily stunned, turned around, and unexpectedly collided with a pair of cold and indifferent phoenix eyes.
Instinctively, she opened her mouth, "You came so early?"
"Not early. It’s 6:28."
"..."
Oh, arriving just on time.
The wave of sadness that just rose in her heart vanished without a trace because of his presence and his words.
"Let’s go in and sit." A flash of embarrassment crossed her eyes as she turned and walked forward.
Sebastian Prescott’s gaze slowly moved from her to the pianist.
He remembered, the ending of "La La Land" was a BE.
The female lead marries someone else, and the male lead remains unmarried.
As the song ended, he retracted his gaze and stepped forward to follow.
Sienna Monroe’s table was by the window. After sitting down, the waiter brought the menu; she pushed it in front of Sebastian Prescott, "Lawyer Prescott, have a look at what you’d like to eat."
Sebastian Prescott didn’t stand on ceremony with her, flipping through the menu while naming dishes to the waiter.
Ding!
Sienna Monroe’s phone suddenly chimed with a notification.
[Caleb Sinclair and Vivian Nash will be dining at Le Dîner at seven. They also bought tickets to "Picture Emotions" at Lumina Cinema.]
Her pupils constricted.
Wasn’t Le Dîner the western restaurant where she was currently dining with Sebastian Prescott?
After Sebastian finished ordering, he realized she was distracted and waited a moment before handing over the menu, tapping the table lightly with his finger, "Your turn to order."
Sienna Monroe snapped back to reality, "Oh, have you finished ordering?"
Sebastian nodded, noting her absent-minded expression but didn’t say more.
Time ticked by, and soon it was seven o’clock. She finally saw the figures of Vivian Nash and Caleb Sinclair at the entrance.
Coincidentally, Vivian also glanced over unintentionally, and their eyes met in the air without prior arrangement.
Vivian’s eyes showed a trace of surprise and then a hint of panic, but when she saw the back of the man opposite Sienna, a playful smile flowed over her lips as she walked over with a bounce and a smug step.
"Sienna, what a coincidence, you’re dining here too."
As she approached, she turned her head and was startled to see Sebastian, "Lawyer Prescott? Sienna, I didn’t realize you were so familiar with Lawyer Prescott at the last school reunion in the Imperial City."
Caleb Sinclair also walked up with a sullen face, his brows furrowed deeply, and his tone slightly cold, "Why are you having dinner with him?"
Sienna Monroe looked at the two of them and couldn’t help but feel a bit desolate inside.
She didn’t justify herself but frowned and retorted, "Then why are the two of you together?"
Caleb’s heart skipped a beat at her words, and he replied without thinking, "The truffle mushroom soup here is good. I came to pack one for you."
"Oh." Sienna Monroe stretched her tone and looked at Vivian Nash indifferently, "And you? Also here to pack soup?"
Vivian Nash, "No, I’m here for their Japanese curry chicken rice omelette. I came with my boyfriend before; it’s quite delicious. I was in a bad mood today, so I came specially to eat it."
She pouted, sighed helplessly, and emphasized the words "bad mood."
Sienna’s calm gaze fell on Caleb Sinclair, "Is it really such a coincidence?"
Caleb’s expression was earnest; the eyes behind his glasses carried a hint of doubt, "It really is a coincidence, darling. But... why are you having dinner with Lawyer Prescott?"
He recalled the photo Vivian sent that afternoon, a sour feeling kept spilling out in his chest.
Strong possessiveness continued to corrode his heart.
Sebastian Prescott’s icy voice sounded unexpectedly, "She hit my car. This dinner is an apology."
Sienna Monroe was stunned, not expecting him to explain for her.
She glanced at him, rose, and pretended to be angrily glaring at Caleb Sinclair, "What? You and Vivian Nash always coincidentally meet up, and now you’re turning around to suspect me?"
Her sudden anger threw Caleb off balance.
He opened his mouth but hadn’t uttered a word when Sienna had already grabbed her bag and coat, saying to Sebastian, "I’m really sorry, Lawyer Prescott, for letting you witness such a farce. This meal doesn’t count; I’ll invite you again next time. Please enjoy your meal; I need to go settle the bill."
"Sienna!"
Without thinking, Caleb Sinclair chased after her.
Sebastian Prescott took a sip of water, a faint smile curling the corners of his lips, and the originally deep and cold phoenix eyes rippled with a hint of amusement.
