CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: THOSE WHO BETRAY SINCERE HEARTS SHALL SWALLOW 10,000 SILVER NEEDLES
Vivian Nash watched Caleb Sinclair chase after Sienna Monroe without hesitation. She opened her mouth to call him, but the words swallowed back down her throat.
At this moment, she had no right to call him.
He wouldn’t stop chasing after Sienna for her.
Clearly, tonight was meant to make up for her demotion, to accompany her for dinner and a movie, yet he left her because of Sienna.
Anger, grievance, unwillingness, hatred—all these emotions surged in her heart.
She clenched her fist, closed her eyes, forcing this bitterness down, her peripheral vision caught sight of the elegant and composed Sebastian Prescott eating steak.
Her thoughts moved slightly, and she put on a sweet smile, "Lawyer Prescott, don’t mind it, Sienna probably has some misunderstanding about me and her husband. We’ve known each other for eight or nine years, yet she doesn’t trust me."
She deliberately paused, worriedly asked, "You said earlier that she hit your car, was it serious?"
Sebastian didn’t even lift his eyelids, nor did he speak.
Vivian waited for over ten seconds, her expression gradually turned awkward, she raised her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear, "Ahem, uh... can I join your table? Seems like there are no empty seats."
Sebastian’s eyes were cold, his brows slightly furrowed, a bit bothered by her chatter.
He put down his knife and fork, wiping his mouth gently with a napkin, his thin lips opened coldly and distantly, "Suit yourself."
Vivian was stunned for a moment, not expecting him to agree.
Just a hint of joy flashed in her eyes, she said "Thank you" and walked gracefully to the place where Sienna had been sitting, just about to call a waiter to clear the table and order when Sebastian was already standing up.
"Lawyer Prescott, you..."
Sebastian glanced at her indifferently, picked up his coat, and left.
Vivian was left dumbfounded, biting her lip in embarrassment and anger, hung her head and went upstairs.
After leaving the restaurant, Sienna got straight in her car, Caleb chased after and knocked on the car door a few times, but she stared straight ahead, face cold, stepped on the gas, and drove home.
Caleb’s car followed right behind hers.
She entered the master bedroom, and not even half a minute later, Caleb came in, just in time to see her putting her bag on the sofa, its contents spilling out.
He hurried over, explaining, "Honey, it’s really not like what you think with Vivian Nash. You know she doesn’t like me, and I don’t want to engage with her. Today’s meeting her at the parking lot was purely coincidental."
"Oh, sure, just a ’coincidence’. You happened to meet at the school celebration before, and now again." Sienna said expressionlessly, "Then tell me, why does she look at you so ambiguously? When you two walked in, I thought you were a couple."
Caleb’s heart skipped a beat, not having time to recall how Vivian looked at him earlier, he raised three fingers earnestly, "Heaven and earth can attest, I, Caleb Sinclair, in my heart, there’s only Sienna Monroe. There will never be anyone else in this lifetime, otherwise... otherwise I’ll be alone and meet a bad end."
Sienna gazed at him, suddenly finding it laughable.
Doesn’t he feel guilty saying these harsh vows?
"Those who betray sincere hearts swallow ten thousand needles," she said.
Caleb’s spine stiffened, he gently stroked her cheek with his finger, a few hints of allure in his deep voice, "Honey, can’t you trust me? I love you, only you, this life and the next."
Just as he leaned in for a kiss, Sienna sternly turned her face away, "Really?"
Seeing her serious and jealous expression, Caleb felt his tensed body and nerves relax instantly.
He sighed helplessly, gently tapped her nose with his finger, "What else could it be? I never knew you had such a jealous streak, hmm?"
As the words fell, he noticed the open document on the sofa, curiously picking it up to look, "What’s this?"
"An ultrasound..."
As he realized what it was, he was speechless for a moment, Adam’s apple bobbing yet no words could come out.
Sienna studied his expression, pouting, "What kind of reaction is that? Aren’t you happy? Then give it back to me!"
Just as she was about to snatch the ultrasound image back, Caleb suddenly lifted her into his arms and spun around excitedly.
"Ah!"
Sienna, shocked, patted his back a few times before being put down.
Caleb’s eyes were filled with uncontrollable excitement, "Honey, am I going to be a dad? Am I really going to be a dad?!"
