Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!
Chapter 47: Underground Enterprise Employee Roster (Revised)
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: UNDERGROUND ENTERPRISE EMPLOYEE ROSTER (REVISED)
Coming out of the bathroom, Sienna Monroe saw Caleb Sinclair holding a computer on the sofa, watching something.
She moved closer and at a glance saw the page was about things to pay attention to during pregnancy.
Getting a bit closer, she could see that the previous pages were all related to pregnancy.
"Finished your shower?"
"Yeah." Sienna nodded, "What are you looking at?"
"It’s my first time being a dad, so there’s a lot I don’t know. I was just checking online."
Caleb saw her with a dry hair cap on, closed the laptop, and got up to get a hairdryer, "Sit there, I’ll help dry your hair."
Sienna didn’t refuse. She sat before the dressing table, watching him gently lift her hair through the mirror. The warm breeze brushing her scalp made her relax unconsciously.
After her hair was dried, he applied some hair oil to the ends, rubbed it in a few times, and then combed through it.
This set of movements, over the past six years, he had done countless times and was long familiar with.
"Honey, when is the next prenatal check-up?" he asked.
"Next month on the 8th."
"Alright, I’ll go with you next time."
"Okay."
"I wonder if it’ll be a boy or a girl."
Following his words, Sienna asked, "Do you prefer a boy or a girl?"
"Either is fine." Caleb smiled, "As long as they are yours, I will love them. If it’s a girl, she’ll surely be like you, a pretty little bundle, and I’ll cherish her dearly, let her be a carefree little princess. If it’s a boy, that’s just as good. I’ll teach him to read and write, teach him manners and civility, and ensure he lives a smooth life without worries."
His voice was soft and pleasant, filled with visions and aspirations for the future.
Sienna had also thought about these scenes before, anticipated them.
But ever since he betrayed her that day, everything was destined to turn into clouds, dispersed into the sky.
"It’s still early for these things, it takes time for them to grow up once they’re born."
"True." Caleb replied, "It’s all dry. I’m going to take a shower. If you’re tired, go to sleep first, don’t wait for me."
"Alright."
Sienna walked to the bed. The phone’s screen lit up, and as she prepared to glance at the time, she unexpectedly saw a message sent half an hour ago.
From that mysterious unknown number.
She frowned slightly, touched the screen lightly, and long lines of text came into view.
[The complete list of employees at Radiance Beauty Spa’s underground business is in the second drawer of June Ewing’s office, it’s locked, and the key is in the white ornament on the desk. Despite the shutdown, the underground business is still operating, and two clients have been introduced by old patrons.]
Employee list?
Ordered to shut down for twenty days and still operating?
Indeed, the underground business is doing so well that closing with the spa would probably be quite a loss. Those clients will definitely have opinions.
She furrowed her brows deeper, pressing her lips in thought.
Thinking of the days, Radiance Beauty Spa should be reopening soon.
The next day, after getting up, she washed and changed into a set of casual clothes and flat shoes before heading downstairs.
Caleb had already made breakfast and smiled when he saw her, "You’re up. I was thinking of going upstairs to call you. I made your favorite yam and eight-treasure porridge this morning."
Sienna sat down, tasted the porridge, and nodded in satisfaction, "Is Radiance Beauty Spa reopening these days? I haven’t called mom to ask."
"It’s today."
"Today? So sudden?"
Caleb laughed, "The planned date was the 12th, but a couple of days ago, Carla started the anniversary event on her side, and mom couldn’t sit still."
He paused and then asked if she knew, "You probably didn’t know, but Carla’s aunt is Sebastian Prescott’s little aunt."
Sienna replied calmly, "I know."
"You know?"
"Yeah, mom mentioned it to me before."
Caleb remembered that about ten minutes ago, the driver told him the rear-ender was indeed Sebastian.
He nodded, his voice gentle, "The Prescott Family is the first centennial family in Imperial City, a status that many elite families in the Imperial City can only dream of. I’ve advised mom not to keep going against Carla’s side. This tax audit shutdown was probably a warning from The Prescott Family."
