CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 060 GU SHITING’S CULINARY SKILLS

Sheng Tang went out, as usual, first asking her parents for permission.

Upon learning she was going to the Gu Family, both parents were momentarily stunned.

Her grandmother handed her a coat: "It’s cloudy, it might be a bit cold today."

"I’ll be back before nine tonight," Sheng Tang said.

After she left, her parents exchanged a glance and talked about the matter.

Both of them thought Sheng Tang was fortunate.

Only the grandmother said: "Tangtang looks like she’s blessed."

Sheng Tang stuffed her phone and keys into her pocket, simply tied her hair into a ponytail, and took the elevator downstairs.

There was a bit of traffic on the road, many people were out on weekends, so she arrived after eleven.

Gu Shiting was busy in the kitchen.

After Song Chen dropped her off, he smiled and said: "The old man went to the United States to visit friends, and the lady went to France for an inspection tour. No one will be home in the coming weeks. The lady specifically mentioned that you shouldn’t be reserved when you get home."

Sheng Tang nodded.

Song Chen said: "I’ll be heading off first. Since you’re here today, I’m taking a break."

Sheng Tang agreed.

She ran to the kitchen to find Gu Shiting.

The Gu Family’s kitchen was enormous, comparable to a five-star hotel kitchen, usually staffed with chefs and assistants, totaling more than thirty people.

But at this moment, there was only one head chef, talking to Gu Shiting across the stove.

"...Almost done, reduce the sauce." the chef instructed.

Sheng Tang walked over.

Gu Shiting wore the chef’s white apron, meticulously making braised prawns.

Sweat slightly glistened on his forehead, uncertain if from heat or nerves, but his eyes were bright and shining like he was crafting a delicate artifact.

Watching him, Sheng Tang’s lips curled into a smile, once again thinking: "If only he were my son, I’d truly be blessed!"

Had she married and had children in her last life, her child would be as grown as Gu Shiting.

"The fish is ready, it can come off the stove now." the chef spoke again.

On the neighboring stove, a dish of steamed bass was almost done.

Gu Shiting was busy taking it off the stove, never noticing Sheng Tang had entered.

As the bass came off the stove, Sheng Tang smelled its familiar fragrance, her mouth watering: "It smells so good!"

Only then did Gu Shiting notice her.

His deep eyes still held a trace of unease, fearing Sheng Tang might be upset about yesterday’s events. Seeing her full smile, with joy in her eyes and brows, he felt much relieved.

"Almost ready, take a seat." he said.

Sheng Tang nodded and turned to go out.

Another half hour later, the meal was served.

There were stir-fried shrimp, steamed bass, sautéed spinach, braised prawns, braised beef, and cold lettuce salads—an entire table full of dishes.

Gu Shiting washed his hands and sat opposite Sheng Tang.

Sheng Tang said: "You’ve worked hard. Is this your first time cooking?"

Gu Shiting nodded, his face inexplicably showing a bit of embarrassment: "Mm."

"Impressive, I’ve never cooked before, it’s always my grandmother and mother who do the cooking at home." Sheng Tang said.

She had lived two lifetimes and indeed never cooked. As a child, her grandmother cared for her, later she stayed in school dormitories, and then she ate take-out after entering the company.

"Try this." Gu Shiting picked up a piece of sea bass for her.

Sheng Tang tasted it, the flesh was extraordinarily tender.

"Delicious, delicious!" she praised.

Gu Shiting’s lip corners slightly moved, his eyes seemed illuminated by light, so bright and warm.

"Eat more." he said.

Sheng Tang nodded.

She originally intended to lose weight, but faced with an entire table of food, she ended up eating everything. She didn’t eat staple foods, just finished all the dishes.

The shrimp and fish were extremely tender, the vegetables light, while the braised beef and braised prawns were particularly flavorful.

"Cooking like this for the first time is truly remarkable." Sheng Tang said.
