He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact
Chapter 302. Hunt.
CHAPTER 302: CHAPTER 302. HUNT.
The night loomed with veiled threats, and in the depths of it, a sickly, lean figure moved stealthily, his eyes alert for any signs of danger.
"Why is this wound not healing? I’ve managed to restore the universe energy reserves of this guy, so what the hell is going on?"
He mused, puzzled, presence virled in the night as he moved through the city. After several long hours, he had managed to replenish the universe energy reserves of this body.
However, even after that, the wound did not heal. He wasn’t concerned anymore about the bleeding stopping, as clotting had set in with time and it had managed to stop. However, what he was concerned about was the fact that the wound would be exposed to infections in its open state.
Yes, he had tried to cover the wound with vines, but it didn’t work. The wound was picked by the vines and the bleeding episode began again. He had to wait for several few hours more before the bleeding stopped.
It was after that that he made the concealment rune and bought enough time to leave the range of the dwarf that was patrolling the previous vicinity. Kailen probably deduced that the inability of the wound to close had something to do with the glass that had wounded his cheek.
If the theory was true, then although he stood at a risk of being exposed to some infections roaming around with an open wound, the glasses would come in handy. Yes, he had picked some of the glasses that had wounded him. They dangled in the small pockets of his rusty trousers.
’Seriously, I need information, at least a map. I can’t find a teleportation gate if I keep wandering around like this. And that is where these glasses will come in handy.’
A determined glint flashed through his eyes as he moved.
’I need to start going on the offensive. It sounds crazy, and if I’m not careful I’m gonna end up dead. But what other choice do I have? I have a wound that can give me sepsis at any time, and I’m aimlessly roaming in a dystopian city that will blow up any moment from now. What other thing could be more riskier?’
Kailen hid amongst a corpse of dead bodies, waiting for a dwarf to pass by. After what seemed like an extremely long period of time, a rank three beginner stage ascendant level lifeform dwarf—a four foot tall male—and a rank one beginner stage ascendant level lifeform female dwarf made an appearance, headed past the dead bodies where Kailen was hiding.
"I’m telling you, you are gonna have a nice time!"
"Oh please. When this war ends, I’d love to see you try and talk me into trying it~"
"Heh, I can be quite persuasive."
The two engaged in flirty chatter for a while, headed towards a particular region.
"I’ve been waiting for one of them to make an appearance for too long. I can’t let this opportunity slip by, I have to follow them. I need to take a risk here. Time is running out," Kailen decided.
He crawled out of the dead bodies, ignoring the rotten scent of corpses and blood that had soaked him completely, and followed the dwarves from a distance.
Kailen saw the duo reach a large spaceship parked at an empty spot. The man seemed to whisper some words into the ears of the female, to which she smiled coquettishly and entered the spaceship. The gentleman had an expression of glee on his face. He, although, didn’t enter the spaceship with the female dwarf for some reason and turned around to leave.
He seemed to be humming some sort of pleasant tune as he went a different direction.
When Kailen perceived that the guy was nowhere in sight, he inched forward, moving closer to the spaceship.
"Please work," he sighed as he stared at the exterior of the opened spaceship.
He took out the glass shards. Activating his concealing technique, he went into the spaceship, his gaze snapping towards different directions as he looked for the female dwarf.
The four foot tall feminine figure was just about to undress when, out of nowhere, a sharp object pierced through both of her eyes.
The moment she was about to scream, a small hand appeared on her mouth, and a boy-like voice devoid of emotion calmly seeped into her ear.
"If you scream, or move, you die. Now where is the fucking map of the city?"
The glass shards were already piercing a couple of inches into her neck. She could literally feel her life flashing before her eyes. Therefore she dared not move.
Kailen figured her eyes were not healing . It looked like his conjecture had worked. The glass shards had a way of disrupting the flow of universe energy in a person’s being, thereby preventing recovery from a wound from taking place.
Were they enhanced with some sort of universe energy disrupting runes?
Kailen shook these thoughts to the back of his mind. Now was not the time to think about this .
The voice of the dwarf echoed in his ear , an unsatisfactory response to the question he asked her .
"I-I don’t know, we all have the maps on our AI chips, but even if you kill me, you can’t have access to it. Do—"
The glass shard cut through three of her right fingers, blood falling ceaselessly to the ground. Kailen didn’t hesitate to let her know that he was not in the mood to let her buy time for herself.
"I’ll ask one more time, where’s the fucking city map?"
The female dwarf, in extreme pain, with blood-pained face from her destroyed eyes and maimed fingers, stuttered in fear.
"I—I had a hardcopy version in my storage ring, but I lost it, please check the shelves over the—"
Before she finished speaking, Kailen didn’t hesitate to sink the glass shards deeply into her neck until her signs of life were no more.
His concealment having worn off he’d be discovered if sone dwarf passed by .
He darted towards the shelves, and found a single map of the city in it.
Beep beep
[Intruder alert. Vital signs of owner Kraft unrecordable.
Autopsy confirmed.
Possible cause of death, murder.
Initiating self-destruction protocol.]
The robotic voice of the spaceship AI rung in the spaceship.
"Shit. What sort of spaceship is this?" he cursed, then grabbed the map .
He couldn’t activate his protective rune since he had already exhausted his spiritual power by utilizing the concealment rune.
Without a thought as he was bolting out of the spaceship, he activated his vine afinity.
Booom!!!
