The night was as dark as ink.

The woods outside Jinxi Town were cold and silent.

Three figures, one in white and two in black, walked along the path in the woods.

One of the black-clad men said, "Young Master, just a bit further ahead is where the manor owner and madam were attacked."

The young man in white stopped, his expression obscured by the night. He spoke in a deep voice, "Xuan Ming, give me the map you drew this morning."

"Yes!"

Xuan Ming responded, taking out a neatly folded piece of paper from his chest and handing it to the young man.

Duan Yunfei took the paper, unfolded it, and examined it closely with the fire stick passed over by Xuan Ying.

The eldest son of Yongning Manor was Feng Wuya, the foster son of the manor owner Duan Nian, and the foster brother of Duan Yunfei.

To this day, five years later, Feng Wuya has always been kind to Duan Yunxia, treating Duan Yunfei as his own brother, never contending for anything, and often punishing evildoers in the villages near the manor, earning the people’s respect and the title of Hero Feng.

Neither Xuan Ming nor Duan Yunfei dared to believe that Feng Wuya could be the mastermind behind this assassination.

A month ago, Luo Tianhao, the Young Master of the Luo Family in Bright Moon City, got married. The Luo Family is the family home of the manor owner’s wife, Luo Jing, and almost all the residents of Yongning Manor attended, except for Duan Nian who could not stay long, so he returned early with Luo Jing.

Unexpectedly, they were ambushed in the woods outside Jinxi Town.

Their early return to Yongning Manor was known only to Duan Yunfei, the Luo Family, and Feng Wuya, who stayed to look after the pregnant Duan Yunxia.

Considering how much the Luo Family cherished Luo Jing, it was impossible for them to leak the information to outsiders, and Duan Yunfei was even less likely to do so.

Secretly descending the mountain to investigate, he aimed to find the assassin for his parents and also to prove that Feng Wuya had nothing to do with it.

He only hoped that Feng Wuya would not disappoint him, nor let down his father and sister.
