Heaven Slaying Blade
Chapter 26 - 25 The Secret of the Jade
Saying this, Chu Mo started to move swiftly, vanishing into the bushes in the blink of an eye.
The terrifying second arrow did not shoot out as expected.
Even the cavalry seemed to be frozen, making no move for quite some time.
After a while, a young man emerged, hundreds of feet away from Chu Mo.
He appeared to be in his twenties, wearing a green outfit. He was handsome, tall and straight with a pair of cold, austere eyes which were filled with shock and confusion at the moment.
"Where did this kid come from? Did he, like me, come from a prominent sect? Otherwise, how could he have dodged my killing arrow?"
"Young Master... Should we... continue the pursuit?" One of the knights jumped down from his horse, approached the young man and asked respectfully.
"Never mind, let's stop here. Even if we catch him, you are not his match. It would be a pointless sacrifice." The young man sighed: "He had the guts to gamble against this level of attack...I can only release this kind of attack once for now. If I could advance my Killing Arrow Art to the second level and fire such two arrows at the same time, he would have undoubtedly died today!"
"Young master, don't worry, I'm certain you will succeed soon!" The knight reassured him.
The young man shook his head slightly, "It's not that easy!"
Speaking, he let out a sigh, "Let it be, we are out of luck today, meeting such a hard nut to crack. The brothers who perished, will be given a proper burial. Inform their families that they died serving their country. From now on, I will take care of their families!"
"Your compassion, Young Master, makes us feel lucky to serve under you," the knight sincerely spoke from his heart.
The young man waved his hand, the look of confusion stayed in his eyes, he murmured: "Interesting young man, remember me, eh? I remember you too!"
"I shot an arrow at you, but you killed several of my trusted subordinates and took away one of my Blue Jade Arrows, I'll settle this score with you later!"
Saying this, the young man waved his hand, jumped onto his horse, and ordered, "Let's go!"
Chu Mo sprinted across the prairie using up almost all his strength. At this moment, being slow compared to riding wasn't something he should concern himself with. He presumed those knights wouldn't dare to follow him too rashly. His first priority was to escape from this place.
He ran continuously until the east began to turn white from the approaching dawn. He felt that he had run at least several hundred miles.
This distance was undoubtedly a first for him.
At this moment, his legs felt a bit weak and the primordial force in his elixir field was almost exhausted.
Even if he didn't want to stop, he didn't have the strength to continue.
"Hmph, you didn't listen, and even threatened me. Now do you know you were wrong?"
Qi Xiaoyu arrived in front of Chu Mo, wearing a blue skirt that never seemed to get dirty. She looked at the wound on his arm, frowned slightly and asked, "You're injured?"
"With your mighty divine abilities, didn't you see that?" Chu Mo's voice was slightly hoarse. He looked at her, sat cross-legged, began to circulate his cultivation technique, and started to recover silently.
"I wasn't following you the whole time, how could I know?" Qi Xiaoyu came to Chu Mo's side. She took out a delicate pair of scissors from her sleeve, cut off Chu Mo's injured sleeve, and then said: "You're severely wounded. Fortunately, it didn't hit your bone!"
Saying this, she took out a golden ointment and started to bandage Chu Mo's wound.
While Chu Mo circulated his cultivation technique, he grimaced with pain, "Ouch...you're applying too much pressure!"
Qi Xiaoyu rolled her eyes, "So you do feel pain, it seems you're not that stupid!"
"You're the stupid one!"
"Humph. If you're not stupid, why didn't you run? If they dared to find trouble with you, how could they be unprepared?"
"How was I supposed to know they had an archer?" Chu Mo stopped his cultivation technique, opened his eyes, and met Qi Xiaoyu's deep black eyes. He replied somewhat embarrassingly: "Moreover, he's a very formidable archer."
Saying this, he took down the deep blue arrow from his back: "Look, this is the thing. I think its material is unusual. Not many people can use it. It will surely help identify that guy in the future!"
It was only at this moment that Chu Mo discovered that the arrow was carved from a single piece.
The craftmanship was exceedingly fine, clearly not the work of an ordinary person. At the base of the arrow shaft, there was a tiny 'sun' character.
Holding it in his hand had a cold feeling. The arrowhead was extremely sharp and had pierced through Chu Mo's arm, leaving not a trace of blood on it.
"It's a great thing!" Chu Mo carefully examined it for a while, and couldn't help but praise.
Qi Xiaoyu glanced the arrow and somewhat disdainfully said: "What wonderful thing I thought it was. It's just a Blue Jade Arrow, nothing special!"
"What? This is the legendary Blue Jade Arrow?" Chu Mo was immediately taken aback, staring at Qi Xiaoyu: "You aren't tricking me?"
"Hey, don't move around!" Qi Xiaoyu scolded Chu Mo sternly, and then rolled her eyes: "Why would I lie to you? This thing isn't some rare treasure. Oh, right! What about those bones and hides of the Primordial Beasts? Did they get stolen?"
"No, I hid them." Chu Mo replied casually. He didn't want to lie, but he also didn't want to reveal the secret of his jade. This was his only choice.
Thinking about the jade, Chu Mo had a sudden thought, and concentrated: What is Qi Xiaoyu's cultivation level?
There was no reaction from the jade in his chest.
"What realm is Qi Xiaoyu in?"
Chu Mo focused his thoughts again.
Still, there was no reaction from the jade in his chest.
"Qi Xiaoyu..."
"Hey, what are you doing? Daydreaming?"
A jade hand waved in front of Chu Mo. Qi Xiaoyu looked at him with an odd expression on her face. "Are you worried about your treasures? Do you want me to go with you to retrieve them?"
"Er...eh..." Chu Mo coughed awkwardly, chuckling and shaking his head, "No, let's talk about it later."
As he spoke, Chu Mo picked up the blue jade arrow in his hand and wore a strange smile. He mused, "I never thought that the princes of Great Qi would come to this prairie in person. You must be determined to claim this prairie!"
Qi Xiaoyu seemed indifferent to these things. After treating Chu Mo's wounds, she warned him to be careful of pursuers and left hurriedly as always.
She was as mysterious as always, appearing and disappearing without a trace. Chu Mo was accustomed to this by now and guessed that Qi Xiaoyu was probably seeking something here, otherwise she'd never be in such a hurry.
But since she didn't mention it, Chu Mo didn't want to ask. After all, everyone has their own secrets, just like his jade.
Whenever he thought of this jade, Chu Mo felt a strange sensation. It was as if something that had originally belonged to him had suddenly undergone a tremendous change.
Although the jade still belonged to him, it felt beyond his control now.
He had been feeling this way since the jade started to change.
The jade altered Heaven's Will, a treasure in the eyes of the Demon Lord; alerted him to a small, inconspicuous tree and forcefully absorbed it; today, it conveyed detailed information about an enemy. However, whenever he tried to actively probe for information about others, the jade showed no reaction at all.
"This is so weird!" Chu Mo muttered while immersing his consciousness into the space of the jade. He eagerly wanted to understand why this was happening.
Although there seemed to be no major changes in the space, Chu Mo sensed that the life force within hadn't been as strong as before.
He squinted and immediately fixed his gaze on the small, grayish tree. The delicate bud on the tree that had been tiny to begin with... had withered!
"Could it be that each change requires a significant amount of energy?" Chu Mo wondered, furrowing his brows.
The first time the jade showed its special properties, it absorbed Heaven's Will into the space and altered the mantra on the first page of Heaven's Will.
Since Chu Mo hadn't practiced the original mantra, he wasn't sure if it had improved. However, there was no problem in cultivating it now.
The second time the jade changed was when he came across the small tree. An additional two lines of text appeared on the second page of Heaven's Will.
The third time the jade changed was when Chu Mo was battling an enemy. He had a strong desire to know his opponent's strength and the jade performed a miracle by transmitting that information directly to his mind.
However, after this, the bud on the small tree withered.
Everything pointed to one reason: to unleash the power of the jade, it must have the necessary energy.
But the question was, what did it want?
Chu Mo exited from the jade space with a frown. He believed he was right in his speculation, but what irritated him was that he had no idea how to provide this jade with more energy.
"It looks like I can only wait till the next time it burns me..." Chu Mo muttered to himself. Afterwards, he kept heading east. The journey was peaceful.
Three days later, Chu Mo had entered the central area of the prairie, and his arm injury had mostly healed.
Firstly, it was due to his extraordinary physique, and secondly, UQndoubtedly a lot of credit should go to Qi Xiaoyu's miraculous healing potion.
In the late afternoon of the third day, Chu Mo was resting by a lake when he heard urgent hoofbeats and angry roars from afar.
"Gerzha, you traitor. You betrayed the royal court and your ancestors. You won't end well!" A girl's voice filled with anger echoed from afar.
This was followed by a middle-aged man's voice, "Princess, please surrender. Gerzha will always be your most loyal servant. There's no point in resisting. I didn't betray the royal court or our ancestors; I had an irresistible reason!""
"Princess, the first and second princes... have already surrendered to Great Qi. Only you and the young prince are left. If you don't surrender, both of you... will die!""
"We have been fighting Great Qi on the prairie for hundreds of years. Don't you know their capabilities?"
The girl's voice rang out angrily, "You're full of shit! In all these hundreds of years of fighting, when has Great Qi ever defeated us? Gerzha, you are just a coward! So are Jin Ge and Yin Ge, those two bastards! You're all cowards! You might be afraid, but I, Nayi, am not!""
"The royal court of the Prairie has only heroic warriors who die in battle, never cowards who surrender!""
