CHAPTER 296: CHAPTER 295-MAKING DANGEROUS DEALS.

"Impossible"

Seraphel spoke after a moment of thought, to which Azrail, with his hidden smirk, responded.

"Do you think anything is impossible when it comes to her?"

His words made Seraphel pause. To the currently living, all of them knew what kind of monster it was. It took a whole lot of power coming together from the entire collection of the Heavenly Court before they could even create a plan to take her down. The secrets she held when she fell were more than enough to shake a lot of powerful people, organizations, and even pantheons.

And for a long time, that name hadn’t been spoken or used. Now, after such a time, Azrail pulled it out, using it with such plainness that he didn’t break any of the barriers or seals placed around her name and fate. But it did change the way Seraphel looked at Azrail, now hidden behind the veil, her eyes having a certain hardened feel to them.

An evaluation-like situation started to unfold, the situation now taking a turn for the worse than Seraphel had expected.

"You do know that even being said to be related to her means having everyone close to you executed."

Azrail wasn’t rattled by any of her words as he replied.

"It’s an insurance. I showed you I hold one weakness of yours, and then I gave you my weakness. It’s a guarantee of sorts for the future talks we will have."

Azrail’s words formed a more accepting atmosphere. What he spoke of opened up a lot of scenarios, to which Seraphel gave a small hum, her eyes peering into Azrail, seemingly trying to burrow into his soul as she spoke.

"If even you have a fraction of a connection to her, and if she is indeed alive, then that makes you a very dangerous man."

Azrail chuckled at her words as he spoke.

"No, it makes me a very desirable man who can help you. It would also show how someone from a no-name realm could rise up to such a position."

His words made Seraphel pause. Many questions that might have been plaguing her mind now opened up as she sized up Azrail once again. A lot of questions needed to be answered, but even then, there was no doubt that whatever Azrail wanted to speak about was indeed worth hearing.

"Why do you want to take down Thanatos?"

Seraphel finally asked, a link being established.

"Because if I don’t kill him now, he will kill me in the future. Simple as that."

Behind the veil, Seraphel’s eyes narrowed as Azrail continued.

"I don’t really hold his legacy. I mean, I don’t hold everything. What I do is just a replication of the talent I am blessed with and with the help of ’her.’ The real one chosen by the legacy of Thanatos will arrive later, and I don’t want to be killed by then."

His words rang loudly in Seraphel’s mind, her mind quickly working through different thoughts and plans as she processed Azrail’s words. Just that information alone was more than enough for him to be hunted down until the end of the cosmos. Fooling Thanatos? Now that was a death sentence anywhere you went.

Though Seraphel couldn’t help but feel a little rush in her heart. After all this time, knowing that Thanatos had been duped so badly, with his own illegal legacy being thrown into his face, was satisfying.

"You are being far too trusting of me with your secrets. Is this blind faith or blind arrogance?"

Seraphel asked, to which Azrail, shaking his head, replied.

"It’s blind focus on a goal and trust in the one that made me reach this far."

His words rang true in many ways as Seraphel ran through all the possibilities in her mind. Taking in the fact that Azrail was telling the truth, perhaps this might indeed be a path she had been waiting for all her life. A quiet hum filled the place as the pressure in the room withdrew itself, a sense of calm finally settling down as Seraphel asked.

"What’s the endgame here? You must not have come here without a goal. To risk such certified death, your plans must be deep."

’Got you.’

Azrail’s eyes narrowed within his hidden face, the two of them hidden facing each other with their own intentions. For all the revenge Seraphel wanted, she wasn’t one to be blinded by it. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have lasted as long as she did, working under Thanatos. The power that came with who she was wasn’t something she could give away easily.

Thus, the next steps that Azrail took had to be very careful in order for him not to tip off anything to this woman. She might be smiling now, but she would betray him at a moment’s notice if things didn’t go according to her plan. Trust and loyalty could only be built with time, after all. Thus, after a moment of silence, Azrail replied.

"We aren’t officially any kind of allies for me to spill those to you, but what I can say is that the two of us want Thanatos gone. You can’t do it directly, but I can."

Azrail said the last of his words with a pressure on them, showing just how much trust he had in them, to which Seraphel replied.

"You are not bound by any clause?"

To which Azrail, shaking his head, replied.

"If I had his real legacy, then the clause he placed on them not to be betrayed would be in effect. But I don’t have his real legacy, which means his arrogance that I can’t directly harm him can be used against him."

Azrail’s words opened up a whole new path for Seraphel to walk on. Nodding her head, she asked.

"Do you know where the real Thanatos lies?"

Azrail nodded his head at her words as he replied.

"She does, but we are not close enough to take any action now."

"Why?"

Seraphel asked, her eyes now lighting up with the revenge she had been holding back her whole life. A certain spike now surged within her since she had finally gotten an open way to fulfil the promise she had made all those years ago.

"Thanatos’ body still stays hidden, but a time is going to come when he is weak when he will be at his highest arrogance, and it’s then that we will strike."

Azrail replied, his words not giving more but enough for her to understand that there was more to the future that was planned. Thus, a moment of full silence filled the place, no doubt Seraphel going through different thoughts in her mind, trying to get a feel for what she should do for the future, evaluating the risk and the path forward.

And Azrail let her be. He leaned back against the chair, letting Seraphel go through her process. Azrail knew more about her than she could know about herself, and he already had all the cards in his hands, especially the knife that was already aiming at the back of Seraphel. Azrail had an idea of when it would be useful to him.

’Things are only going to unravel for her.’

No matter how many years had passed, Azrail knew that the hate she harboured still lived within Seraphel’s heart, and that would be the thing that would give Azrail the power he wanted.

Seraphel was just the beginning—the most important one. And later down the line, from there would begin the domino effect where he would have absolute control over the entire faction of Oblivion’s Embrace.
