*Squad 1 — Captain’s Office*

Lieutenant Sasakibe Chōjirō gracefully lifted the teapot and poured black tea into a cup.

“Captain Kaelith, please enjoy some tea.”

Taking the cup, Kaelith glanced at the elderly man.

“Old man Sasakibe, I’m not Sensei—I can take care of myself. You really don’t need to look after me like this.”

“If you’ve got time to spare, go do something you enjoy—like gardening or something.”

Sasakibe gave a faint smile in response.

“Since Head-Captain Yamamoto isn’t currently with the squad, you’re the acting Captain of Squad 1. As the lieutenant, it’s only right for me to assist with such tasks.”

Kaelith sipped the tea.

Hmm, temperature, aroma—both flawless.

A craft comparable to Ryūjin Jakka’s fire.

Setting down the cup, he asked curiously:

“Old man, aren’t you worried about Sensei?”

“It’s been over a month since he last showed up. Aren’t you at all concerned he might be in real trouble and not coming back?”

Sasakibe smiled and shook his head.

“What’s there to worry about?”

“If something truly had happened, you’d be the first to lose your cool, wouldn’t you?”

Kaelith was surprised.

Sasakibe the old dog—who needs The Art of War when he’s apparently majoring in psychology now?

That said, he also couldn’t figure out what Yamamoto was trying to pull.

The old man had long since recovered from his wounds, but was still refusing to return to Seireitei.

At the moment, Yamamoto was living in the World of the Living, at a house Kaelith had arranged for him, spending his days immersed in literature of all kinds with tea by his side.

He read everything—highbrow classics, dime-store pulp… As long as it had words, he’d read it.

When he got tired of reading, he’d sit cross-legged and meditate in a practice of sword zen.

Occasionally, if the mood struck him, he’d even play a little lsp4.

Kaelith was watching all of this with concern.

Had the old man discovered the joy of slacking off, and was now preparing to abandon his dignity?

If that was the case, then Kaelith needed to figure out how to offload this mess entirely.

Uncle Kyoraku was sharp—he could help out with a few tasks, but if Kaelith tried to dump everything on him, the man would probably vanish faster than a rabbit.

And as for his senior, Ukitake… forget it. Kaelith was too kind-hearted to pull such a bureaucratic move.

Mulling it over, a familiar face emerged in Kaelith’s mind—Urahara Kisuke.

Though Urahara was currently just a lowly seat officer, far from even a lieutenant, Seireitei had always valued talent above rank. A few jumps straight to Head-Captain wouldn’t be out of the question, right?

Kaelith narrowed his eyes and smirked.

Meanwhile, in the Kaelith Technical Bureau, Urahara Kisuke yawned while working on system patches for lsp4.

Suddenly, a shiver ran through him, like some terrifying omen had just descended.

…What’s going on? Is there a Kaelith haunting in here?

Panicked, he looked around the room—empty.

If there wasn’t a Kaelith in the room, then it must mean the Kaelith demon was thinking of him again… and was planning to exploit his tender, innocent body.

After a few moments of thought, Urahara inhaled deeply, as if steeling his resolve.

He walked over to a cabinet.

Password, iris scan, logic test.

The cabinet opened, revealing a sealed iron box etched with glowing Kidō patterns.

He placed his hand on the box. As his spiritual pressure pulsed in harmony with the Kidō, the inscriptions slowly faded.

Inside the box were a folder and an external hard drive.

His meticulously prepared life-saving trump card—the only hope of escaping Kaelith’s clutches.

The name of the game: Chronicles of Adam.

This was a “masterpiece” Urahara had personally commissioned—out of his own pocket—from various illustrators and writers in the human world.

A legendary erotic title.

A blend of pure love, harem fantasy, lewdness, monster girls… a genre-defining juggernaut.

Most importantly, it featured multiple charming ample characters—designed specifically to ensnare Kaelith and leave him too obsessed to torment Urahara further!

Clutching the game disc, Urahara curled his lips into a villainous grin.

……

That day, Kyoraku showed up right on time to work, stepping into Squad 1.

He was immediately met with a baffling sight.

Kaelith was seated at the desk, earnestly reviewing paperwork.

Kyoraku blinked, rubbed his eyes.

No good. He must’ve gotten up too fast. He was hallucinating Kaelith doing actual work.

“Kaelith?”

Kyoraku walked in warily, voice cautious.

He suspected this wasn’t his little junior—it had to be a body-snatching alien, an invader from another dimension.

“Hey, Uncle Kyoraku. Morning.”

Kaelith looked up and nodded, then adjusted his glasses and went back to the files.

Kyoraku was confused.

Everything—spiritual pressure, tone, aura—matched his junior.

But… since when did Kaelith wear glasses?

Clearing his throat, Kyoraku tried,

“Hey, I heard Squad 1’s got a new lunch menu today. Want to check it out early?”

Kaelith looked up, eyes lighting up.

“Oh, that sounds great. Let’s go!”

He stood immediately—but paused, face clouding over with frustration.

“Forget it. Uncle Kyoraku, you go ahead. I’ll catch up later.”

He sat back down and resumed his work.

“???”

Kyoraku was dumbfounded.

Even food couldn’t lure him away?

What’s going on with his junior?

*Meanwhile, in Kaelith’s view—*

The glasses he wore were transmitting everything he saw back to the Kaelith Technical Bureau in real time.

There, Aizen sat before the monitor, carefully reading every report onscreen.

He issued verbal directives through the earpiece embedded in Kaelith’s glasses.

Kaelith then modified the documents accordingly.

Kyoraku curiously walked over and picked up one of the reviewed files.

Most of them were long-ignored Squad 1 archives—even Yamamoto rarely touched them.

And yet Kaelith was reviewing them personally.

After reading through several, Kyoraku was even more shocked.

The quality of the edits… were impeccable. Better than his own, even.

This was insane.

He knew exactly what kind of lazy degenerate his junior normally was.

The man never handled Squad 11 paperwork—delegated it all to his subordinates.

Even if Kaelith had suddenly turned over a new leaf, Squad 1’s files were not beginner-friendly.

It’s like asking a mid-level manager to suddenly take over a CEO’s work. Even with experience, the mindset leap alone was massive.

Kyoraku had spent nearly 400 years as Squad 8’s Captain, and only with that background and constant exposure to Yamamoto’s guidance could he barely manage Squad 1’s affairs.

Kaelith had only been in the seat for less than two months. Could he actually be… a genius?

Puzzled, he sat down nearby and enjoyed the rare pleasure of watching someone else do all the work.

After a while, Kaelith completed all the documents on his desk.

“All done for today.”

Aizen, still on the screen, nodded into the mic.

That morning, he had asked Kaelith to use the glasses under the guise of reviewing paperwork so he could read some specific records.

Kaelith didn’t mind—Aizen wouldn’t harm him. Besides, he didn’t have to actually do the work himself.

And best of all, it gave him a chance to show off to Kyoraku. What’s not to love?

In his desire to flex, he completely forgot that if Aizen wanted to see the records, he could’ve just used Kyōka Suigetsu while Kyoraku wasn’t around.

The next day, Aizen asked him again.

Then again on the third day.

And with each passing day, Kyoraku became more and more convinced—Kaelith’s analytical abilities were superior even to his own.

Eventually, he shifted his workload—handling the mundane stuff himself, while letting Kaelith tackle high-priority items.

Kaelith’s data analysis, intelligence handling, and decision-making were just that impressive.

During dinners with friends, Kyoraku began mentioning this.

People were stunned to hear that Kaelith had taken over Squad 1’s internal affairs so smoothly.

But upon hearing it was Kaelith, they all nodded.

That man was practically the embodiment of miracles.

If someone announced tomorrow that the Head-Captain had stepped down and Kaelith was running the whole show, no one would be surprised.

Thus, thanks to Aizen’s subtle maneuvering, Seireitei’s perception of Kaelith gradually shifted from “Captain of Squad 11” to “Acting Captain of Squad 1.”

……

By the third month of Yamamoto’s “absence,” Byakuya Kuchiki came knocking.

The once-small boy had grown into a refined and striking youth, roughly the appearance of a seventeen or eighteen-year-old human.

Standing next to Kaelith, they looked more like peers than uncle and nephew.

Not unusual in Soul Society. Most of Kaelith’s contemporaries looked around twenty-something by now.

Shunsui guided Byakuya into the Head-Captain’s office.

Upon entry, Byakuya froze.

As the heir of the Kuchiki Clan, he’d visited this office a few times. It was once steeped in the scent of books and tea.

Now… it was a den of depravity.

The hanging calligraphy had been replaced by game posters.

The bookshelves? Now full of figurines.

The worst was the chair.

The seat Yamamoto once used had been shoved into a corner.

In its place sat a massive throne draped with tiger skin.

Kaelith lounged there, one leg crossed over the other, yawning lazily.

Seeing Byakuya, he grinned.

“Well now, dear nephew, what brings you here today?”

Byakuya: “…”

This wasn’t the Head-Captain’s office. It was a gangster’s hideout.

And where was Lieutenant Sasakibe?! Do something, man!

You’re just gonna watch Yamamoto’s sanctum get desecrated like this?!

For a moment, Byakuya felt like he’d been utterly wrecked by fate.

Though he wanted to unleash a storm of complaints, he was here on business—and had to bite his tongue.

He nervously shut the door behind him, reached into his robes, and pulled something out.

Kaelith raised an eyebrow.

What was this? A peace offering from a rival corporation?

Byakuya held out a formal document with both hands.

“Kael… Ahem, Mr. Kaelith, please take a look at this.”

Kaelith took the document and skimmed the contents.

He gave a low chuckle.

It was a marriage application—Byakuya requesting permission to wed Hisana Yurei.

As a noble, marriage required heaps of red tape.

The most crucial of which: the blessing of Hisana’s adoptive father—Kaelith.

Smiling slyly, Kaelith shook the papers.

“A decision of this magnitude—and they send a kid alone?”

“Where’s your father? As head of the Kuchiki Clan, he’s trying to dodge the whole proposal?”

Byakuya quickly shook his head.

“I asked my father not to come.”

“My relationship with you is mine to build. I don’t want this engagement to happen because of his influence—I want to earn it on my own.”

“Oho…”

Kaelith rubbed his chin.

He had no objections to the marriage. If it were anyone else, he might be skeptical.

But as a transmigrator, Kaelith knew—this kid was absolutely head-over-heels for Hisana.

Still, that didn’t mean he couldn’t mess with the kid a little.

Smiling deviously, he said:

“All right, lil’ Byakuya. If you want my approval, you’ll have to prove your courage.”

“Courage?”

Byakuya frowned.

Kaelith grinned darkly. “Simple. Challenge any squad captain to a duel. Defeat them. Take their birdseat.”

“Do that, and I’ll consent to the marriage.”

Byakuya’s face grew serious.

He quickly ran through the current captains in his head.

After a few seconds, his eyes lit up.

“I understand.”

“Just wait, Kaelith. I won’t fail.”

Without waiting for a reply, he turned and dashed off.

Kaelith watched him go, a bit puzzled.

Where’d this kid get all that confidence?

Later that afternoon, a report arrived.

Byakuya Kuchiki, heir of the noble house, had formally challenged Squad 9’s captain, Kensei Muguruma.

The match took place under full observation.

Byakuya won.

Kaelith: “…”
