CHAPTER 43: THE TAKEDOWN

Within minutes, Zach’s communicator chirped and it was Ty—he wanted to know what was up. Sonia had been turned away at the gate and not allowed entrance. She was worried sick.

"I’ll take care of it. I’ll call her and I’ll explain, but as of right now this place is on lockdown. Everyone that’s here is under my protection and no one is coming in until the GBI clears us and a certain event takes place. This is meant for everyone—there are no exceptions," Zach told his grandson firmly.

Ty understood his grandfather was doing what was best for everyone. He didn’t know what was going on, but it would be okay.

Zach called Sonia and explained the situation. "There’s a situation that involves individuals at the ranch that need the most protection ever. When the event is over and everyone is safe, then we’ll come out of lockdown. No one is going to be harmed by anyone from any damn corporation."

Martin kissed Hanz tenderly. "Be safe, and we’ll all be waiting on your return. Take care of Angela as she’ll take care of you. Wear your vest because no one is bulletproof—you might be a big SOB, but no one is bulletproof."

Hanz kissed Martin, Kieran, and Roy. He hugged Kirk and William also, promising them with conviction, "I’ll be back to protect you. No one will hurt my family—not at all."

Angela and Hanz met at the office where Tony had already assembled a strike team. This place was going down, and going down hard and fast. The whole office was on lockdown—calls were screened doubly, and no calls were going out unless Tony approved and made them. One thing about the operator: she was good at her job and following orders.

Tony held a war room meeting where everyone was assigned certain areas. Angela and Hanz were with Tony going into the facility. This would be quick and precise—no one would be allowed to get away. This place was going down and Tony was on a mission.

It didn’t take long to reach the Harrison Ranch. Jonathan’s maps were spot on. He was to wait inside the vehicle until after the mission was complete.

Exits were cut off, entrances were blocked, and all communications were halted by radio frequency interference. Tony was the first one through the door—he didn’t need Hanz, he busted it down like it wasn’t even there. They went through the hallways of this poorly lit place. There was one door that was locked. Hanz kicked it in and it was full of young Genmen who scattered and screamed—they were terrified.

"I’ve got this. I’ll get a couple more agents in here. Hanz, you and Angela go to the breeding center—straight ahead to the right. Take it down," Tony commanded with authority.

No door stood a chance against Hanz, and Angela wasn’t bad herself. Hanz got his first glance at what he saw, and it sickened him. There were young Genmen laying in breeding chairs with their legs spread wide in the air, and in one of them a Genman in his early to mid-20s had just finished breeding a very young-looking man. Hanz grabbed him by his nuts, jerked him back, and threw him across the room.

This shocked the Genman. He was rolled over and handcuffed by Angela, who lifted him up by the head of his hair and set him on a bench. She looked over and what she saw was disgusting—she grabbed a blanket and covered up the knocked-out young man.

"But I don’t want to go back to the dark place! The handler made me do it!" the young Genman cried out desperately.

Hanz turned to look and locked eyes with the only human in the room. He took three strides, grabbed him by his throat, and demanded, "Who are you and what the hell are you doing to these people?"

"They’re just Genmen—they’re not people, they don’t count. I just got a job to do and my job is to make sure he breeds them for the Harrison Ranch," the arrogant man replied coldly.

Angela approached the young man still shaking from his recent trip across the room and knelt down. "What’s your name, son, and how long have you been here?"

"My name is Frankie. I’ve just returned from another branch. I started out here when I was young, but I’ve had to leave and do things I didn’t like. After I got rid of the virus the third time, I now have to help the young ones that have the virus. They tell me since I’m cured, only my seed will help them. They’re too young to do anything else, but I can’t let the virus eat their insides," Frankie explained with genuine concern.

"Do you remember a friend that you had here named Martin?" Angela asked gently.

Frankie’s eyes lit up. "He was my best friend growing up! We did everything together till I caught the virus and the kind human told us that he better leave quick before he caught it. I helped him escape. Is he still okay?"

"Yes, he is. He’s great—he doesn’t have the virus. In fact, he’s my best friend and I hope that you can meet again soon. Why did you do what you did to this young Genman? What did he do?" Angela continued carefully.

"He had the virus and only my seed can stop it. I do this to different ones once a day, five days a week, to help them get rid of the virus. After six months I go to another ranch and do it there. I make a cycle between five different ranches," Frankie explained earnestly.

"So you don’t know what you’re doing to these young Genmen?" Angela pressed.

"Well, I’m helping them so they don’t get swelled belly, and if they do swell, my seed protects their body and then one day it’s gone. They’ll swell up again if they get the virus three times like I did, but then they have the antivirus in their bloodstream and they can help others," Frankie responded with innocent conviction.

Angela and Hanz could not believe what they were hearing. Frankie had no idea what he was doing—he was just following instructions. He didn’t know that he had just gotten this young Genman pregnant with his child.
