Chapter 127 Twin’s!!!
CHAPTER 127: CHAPTER 127 TWIN’S!!!
When it seemed the truck would surely hit the car, it jerked to a halt as the driver got a call.
"Stop the vehicle now and wait. If my calculations are correct, they would be coming back. That is the perfect time to get them." The masked driver grunted in response, then discreetly parked the truck at the side of the road, blending in with the other vehicles.
The car they had been following continued on, unaware of the eyes watching them. It stopped at the city hospital and parked right in the middle of the gate, the driver not bothering to move it to the proper park. Alex got out with Xylander, and together they helped Daniel from the car.
His stomach was hurting worse than ever, the pain forcing him to clench his hands, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"We’re here already, just breathe, Daniel. Breathe," Xylander whispered. At this point, he had discarded all his own worries to focus solely on Daniel. His future was in pain; the past could be settled later. What had happened, had happened. So, together, they began to lead Daniel into the hospital.
With just the two of them supporting his weight, their progress was slow. Alexander knew that at this rate, something would happen to Daniel before they even reached a ward. He dropped Daniel’s arm from his shoulders.
"Xylander, take him to the ward. I’ll be right behind you," Alex commanded. Xylander didn’t hesitate, immediately scooping Daniel into his arms and running towards the nurses at the receiving room.
The nurses recognized them instantly—this definitely wasn’t their first time here.
"Emergency, nurses! He’s pregnant—" Before Xylander could finish, Alex slammed a palm over his mouth, stopping the next words.
He leaned in close to whisper, "They can’t know Daniel is an Omega. It will cause trouble." Alexander’s revelation made Xylander understand instantly. The knowledge angered him—that Omegas were treated so poorly that now his groom would pay the price. How were they supposed to explain his predicament? At least he was lucky that they didn’t hear him because they were waiting for him to finish what he was about to say.
"Xyle, my stomach... I really can’t take this agony," Daniel groaned, the pain nearly choking him.
Two nurses rushed over. "Let us help treat him. You’re only worsening his condition," a shorter nurse insisted. But Xylander didn’t let them lay a finger on Daniel. When the taller one attempted to reach out, a single glare from him made her quickly comport herself, awkwardly straightening her gown.
"Mind where you keep those filth you call hands," Xylander said, his distasteful expression making the entire group shift aside. One nurse who had been about to ask for an autograph quickly retracted her foot, not wanting to draw his sack-worthy notice.
Alexander was already on a phone call. He needed Ruth; she was the only one who knew their secrets, so it was safe for her to come.
"Is she coming already?" Xylander was growing impatient. Daniel was straddling his neck, writhing and rolling his hands. It seemed to be getting worse, Daniel now crying heavily.
"Shhh, please don’t cry. You’re hurting me with those precious tears," Xylander murmured, rubbing his back in a futile attempt to soothe the pain.
"Yes, Ruth, I need you now. No, we need you. It’s about Daniel’s situation. Come this minute and leave whatever you’re doing," Alex commanded, cutting the call before the poor woman could even process what was happening.
Just as Alex had demanded, Ruth arrived in under five minutes, running in her high heels which dug into the marble floors, nearly pulling her down. The urgency of the situation didn’t allow her to slow down.
"If this is a prank again, I am blocking him from calling me permanently," Ruth muttered as she arrived at the waiting room. She took one look at the confused and worried men and gestured for them to follow her.
The two nurses moved to join, but Ruth held up a hand. "Not you both. Stay where you are. Let me handle this." The ladies returned to their posts without another word.
"What are they hiding?" the short nurse whispered.
"I wonder, but if we’re not allowed to pry, it’s best if you truly mind your business," the taller one warned, going back to the files she had been filling out earlier. Despite her own advice, the shorter nurse made a mental note to investigate later.
Ruth led them into a private ward, closing all the curtains and doors with windows before letting the two men lay Daniel on the bed in the center.
"See, Ruth? We need you to check what the issue is. You’ll be fine," Xylander said, rubbing Daniel’s hands in assurance. Alex stood to the side, watching as Ruth brought out her stethoscope and checked Daniel’s heartbeat.
She frowned. Something wasn’t right. How...? She stepped away and went to a set of drawers, searching for something. Xylander, seated beside Daniel on the bed, saw the confused look on Ruth’s face and started to panic. Was it serious? Was Daniel’s life in danger? The thoughts came pouncing on him.
After a minute of searching, she brought out a form and began to write. Then she wheeled a scanning machine over.
"Draw him closer so I can reach." Xylander followed her instruction, dragging Daniel forward so the scanner could be placed on his stomach. Ruth’s eyes went to the monitor, which displayed the position of the baby. And there, in the womb, Daniel—whose eyes were half-open—saw two little figures. Two tiny beings taking form. Twins. He was carrying twins.
Xylander, too, was speechless at what his eyes were seeing. Alex wasn’t left out; he gawked as if it were a heavenly revelation.
"But how? Didn’t you run checks to see if he was pregnant? You said a baby," Xylander accused her.
Ruth immediately defended herself. "I did! And trust me when I say this is the first time something like this is actually happening. I am as surprised as you are. The heartbeat I felt was two—that of the father and the baby—but now I can feel three heartbeats." Ruth’s face was that of a scientist who had just cracked a newfound theory.
Xylander took Daniel into his arms, hugging him and patting his hair. This was the greatest news of all time. Not one baby, but two at once. A double blessing.
"Daniel, this is great! The more the merrier," Xylander smiled.
Daniel pinched his face after that statement. "’The more the merrier’? As if you’re the one carrying the baby on your stomach! Do you think it’s easy that you’re declaring how many babies you want?" Daniel attacked, talking despite his wavering energy.
"Dan, my sweetheart, don’t worry. After this, I don’t want any more. Two is perfect," Xylander announced.
Finally, Ruth sighed. At least there were no casualties. She was happy it was just the babies moving and nothing critical. She recommended drugs and foods Daniel should take and strictly warned against stress.
"So the pain he was feeling is the babies moving?" Alex asked, surprised. How wicked of the babies—even as little as they were, couldn’t they pity their carrier?
"Affirmative. It’s all the kicking. Daniel is healthy and strong, so don’t worry. Let him rest, and you can take him home tomorrow morning. And I’m serious—don’t go anywhere. Stay here till morning if you don’t want your Groom affected. I know how stubborn you men can be." Ruth gave them a thumbs-up and walked away.
"So that’s why Daniel’s scent changed. I noticed it yesterday but decided not to bring it up," Xylander revealed. Alexander nodded; he had noticed it, too.
Well, thank God Daniel was confirmed okay. Now, he would go and get him something to eat.
"Give me some minutes; let me get him some dinner." Alex walked out. The day had slowly been stolen away, the sunlight beginning to set. He took a straight road, attempting to turn and leave the ward corridor, when he saw the short nurse snooping around.
"That bitch..." Frowning, he took out his gun and set the bullet, sneaking up beside the nurse.
