CHAPTER 128: CHAPTER 128 BLOOD IN THE WARDS.

Poking her head around the corners of each corridor, the nurse glanced toward the one where the patient had been admitted and smiled to herself.

"Let’s see you hide it this time around," she muttered.

It was lunch break, the perfect chance for her to sneak out unnoticed. Bringing her hands forward to open the door handle, she grinned triumphantly—until a dagger pierced straight through the middle of her palm, digging deep into her flesh.

A sharp, sizzling pain tore through her arm. She tried to scream, but before a sound could escape, Alex appeared behind her and clamped a hand over her mouth.

"A sneaky thief, huh? Welcome to our world."

In one swift motion, Alex dragged her inside one of the empty wards and locked the door behind them. The nurse’s muffled screams filled the air as blood trailed across the floor. She was dragged like a rag doll, her body limp and trembling, until Alex tossed her into a corner like discarded trash.

She gasped, strength fading, the pain unbearable as blood poured freely from her hand.

"Why did you stab me? If this gets to the police, you’ll be sorry!" she spat weakly, trying to reach for her phone. Her fingers fumbled, unlocking it, but before she could go live, Alex’s palm connected brutally with her cheek.

The slap echoed. The phone fell beside her, and she staggered.

"I hate disobedient, snooping bitches who can’t mind their business," Alex growled, voice dripping with venom. "Didn’t we warn you all not to follow us?"

His blue eyes burned—cold, merciless, and void of warmth. The nurse saw nothing human in them, only a deadly glint that promised suffering. Her face stung, swelling under the mark of his slap, and her lips bled as fear overtook her.

"Don’t kill me, please..." she whimpered, realizing that death was the only fate waiting for her. No one would rescue her from this hell she’d foolishly walked into.

Alex crouched low, his voice steady but cruel. "You really think I’d let you near him to discover our secret? Foolish girl. Now, I’ll have to silence you forever."

He held up the dagger, its silver edge glinting ominously in the dim ward light.

The nurse swallowed hard, crawling backward until her back hit the wall. No escape.

"Bye-bye, you little pest."

Alex lunged, fury blazing. The blade flashed. She tried to dodge, but the cold steel caught her face, tearing a jagged line across her cheek. Her scream barely left her throat before the dagger came down again—clean, swift, and final.

Her head rolled across the floor, stopping at Alex’s boots. With a smirk, he gave it a violent kick, sending it crashing into the wall. It burst against the hard surface, leaving behind nothing but blood and ruin.

"Any more scapegoats will be treated the same," he muttered darkly, wiping the blade clean. Then he stepped out of the room, his aura cold and deadly.

Outside, he headed to get food for Daniel.

He bought noodles—extra hot and spicy, just how Daniel loved them—and a bottle of Nutri drink. By the time he returned to the hospital, Daniel was already asleep.

"I don’t know if we should wake him or let him rest," Xylander said quietly from behind.

Alex paused at the doorway, watching Daniel’s peaceful face. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he walked closer.

"We’ll wake him. It’s important he eats; it might affect him if he sleeps on an empty stomach," Alex said softly. He leaned down and gently tapped Daniel’s arm.

"Daniel," he whispered, tapping again until Daniel stirred.

"I want to sleep more..." Daniel mumbled cutely, his voice drowsy.

Alex chuckled. "You must eat, for you and the baby. I know it’s not easy, but your health comes first."

Scooping a spoonful of noodles, he blew off the steam. "Open up."

Daniel obeyed, parting his lips, and Alex fed him carefully.

Xylander couldn’t help smiling at the scene. He quietly took out his phone and snapped a photo.

"One day, Alex, we’ll tell the kids that the stone-hearted bodyguard once fed his love during pregnancy—and they’ll praise you for it," Xylander teased.

Alex shot him a glare, but Xylander only shrugged and admired the picture proudly. Alex’s lips twitched into a smile before he continued feeding Daniel.

"I’m stressing you too much, aren’t I?" Daniel asked softly, his tone small and sad, like a scolded schoolgirl.

Alex smiled warmly, eyes glimmering. "Don’t ever think that. I’ve always wanted to feed you like this. You don’t know how long I’ve dreamed of this moment—and now it’s real. I couldn’t be happier."

Daniel’s eyes softened. "I’m glad, Alex. Please... bring Draven back. I miss him so much. Don’t let him drown in loneliness. He needs people who understand him—please, give him that chance."

Xylander leaned in and kissed Daniel’s chin gently. "Draven’s been located. We’ll bring him back soon. For now, eat and rest."

Daniel nodded, chewing slowly, though his eyelids fluttered with sleep. By the time Alex lifted the last spoon, Daniel had already drifted off.

"It must be the drug Ruth administered. She said it was strong and would help him rest," Xylander murmured.

Alex nodded. Together, they adjusted Daniel’s position, placing a pillow under his head. Daniel slept soundly, glowing even more in slumber—his radiance in diminished by the pregnancy, if anything, enhanced by it.

The Next Morning

It was the final day of their honeymoon—and Daniel’s birthday. He was still fast asleep when a sharp chirp startled him awake.

He shot up instantly. "What the—?!"

Blinking, he turned toward the sound. It was a cuckoo bird—or so he thought. Then he noticed the small clock beside him.

An alarm.

"What the hell is a cuckoo bird doing in here?" he muttered irritably, before realizing the truth. Furious, he snatched the clock off the nightstand and slammed it to the ground, smashing it to pieces.

"You idiot! Perish!" he barked, kicking it again until the fragments scattered across the floor.

Once his temper cooled, he took a deep breath and looked around. That’s when he noticed the hospital gown he was wearing.

"Wait... what’s going on? Where am I?"

His mind was a blur, fragments of memory refusing to align.

Then suddenly—BEEP! BEEP!

The alarm’s shattered voice blared again, this time shouting, "Happy birthday!" as colorful petals began raining from above, filling the room with the scent of fresh flowers.

Daniel blinked in disbelief, eyes widening. Behind him stood Alex and Xylander, each holding enormous bouquets of vibrant, freshly cut blooms.

It was too much—too beautiful. His chest swelled, emotions flooding him. He’d never had a birthday celebration before. Overwhelmed, he ran toward them, jumping into their arms, laughing and crying all at once as he hugged them tightly.

For the first time, he felt truly seen—truly loved.
