CHAPTER 78: 78

"What a mess?" Walking towards his residence, Yang Ze could only let out a helpless sigh. He just couldn’t understand why everyone would keep him captive. He wasn’t even showing his true face and cultivation. To others, he was just an ordinary man in his thirties with no redeeming qualities. Even his size was half that of the women of this world.

What were they even thinking? First, it was Lin Wan, but she did it because she saw his face and knew about his physique.

Then it was Lin Yue, who, for some god forsaken reason, dragged him to the Duality Sect. And when he was captured, it was Cang Yue who became the one in charge of him.

And now that they had managed to escape from there, he was once again under the so-called Grand Elder whom he had never even met.

The more he thought about it, the less sense it all made. It was as if there was an invisible hand at work, tampering with his life and fate and forcefully making him stay with these women.

"I need to find a way out of this place." He didn’t want to stay here any more. He wanted to escape and roam the world all by himself. He wanted to be free... he wanted to make his own decision and not live in fear of having the secret of his physique exposed.

He didn’t believe that the guards of the Sword Sect won’t make any mistake. Now that the war between the two sects has ended, security isn’t going to be as strict as before.

It might take one week or perhaps two, but he would definitely be able to get out of this place. It was just a matter of time.

Thinking like this, he felt a sense of relief.

But this didn’t last long. By the time Yang Ze reached back to his residence, there was already a figure waiting for him there.

"You are back!"

Listening to Xiao Ruolan’s soft, emotionless voice, Yang Ze nodded awkwardly. He was worried that she was going to ask him where he was or what he was doing, but to his surprise, she didn’t. She just gave him a nod before speaking in a soft voice.

"Come... Accompany me for sightseeing." Without waiting for him to reply back, she turned around before heading in the opposite direction.

Yang Ze, on the other hand, was left speechless.

"This woman..." He thought for a moment before deciding to accompany her. Unlike Lin Yue and Lin Wan, who treated him like dirt and always had that lofty expression, Xiao Ruolan was rather meek. She might appear emotionless and cold on the outside, but after spending one night drinking with her, Yang Ze had a rough idea about her gentle nature.

His opinion of hers only improved when she decided to accompany him to the market and even paid for the butterfly out of her own pocket.

Taking a deep breath, Yang Ze could smell the faint fragrance of flowers before he followed behind her.

She seemed to have anticipated his arrival, so after realising Yang Ze was following her, she purposefully slowed her speed, letting him catch up with her.

Yang Ze noticed this small action of hers but didn’t say a thing.

The two of them slowly walked side by side. This time, they weren’t going down the mountain; instead, they were travelling to the top.

Throughout their journey, they also met a handful of Sword Sect members, but most of them just gave a weird gaze to the two of them. Xiao Ruolan ignored them while Yang Ze was thinking about the reason.

Last time the two of them went to the market, the people in the sect kept on looking at the two of them with a weird gaze.

’Is it because they are jealous of her looks?’ Yang Ze couldn’t help but mutter to himself. This seemed to be the only plausible explanation that he could come up with. Not only was Xiao Ruolan’s appearance extremely beautiful, but even her breasts were twice the size of the women around her. Perhaps this was the reason for their jealousy.

In a daze, he didn’t even realise that the two of them had reached their destination.

"Beautiful... Isn’t it?"

It was Xiao Ruolan’s voice that brought him out of the stupor.

"Umm!" Looking around, Yang Ze even forgot to breathe.

He was already awe-struck by the scenery of Heavenly Sword Sect when he first arrived here, but now that he was at the top of one of the peaks, the view was even more breathtaking.

The entire mountain seemed to be covered in a layer of fog, but unlike the regular fog, it didn’t obstruct his vision. Instead, this fog was more like a water flow. It circled from the top of the mountain towards the bottom before stopping in the middle and then rising again.

He peeked towards the bottom of the mountain only to see that he could only see the top half of the mountain, while the lower half was obstructed by a thick layer of fog, acting as a blanket.

In the distance, he could see the other sword mountains too. Their area was constructed like a staircase with streams of water falling from different places, and on every small ’step’, was an exquisite pavilion, which acted as the residence of the members of the sect.

Even from such a distance, he could clearly see the bright flowers and constant movement of people.

Looking at his awestruck face, Xiao Ruolan just nodded in satisfaction. She wasn’t any better than him when she first saw this scene. On the contrary, she even fought with her grandma to take her to one of those sword mountains.

But those memories have long since passed, and what was left now was the cruel reality that her life will never be the same. Her act of sneaking into the Duality Sect wasn’t without consequences. Not to mention the humiliation she received there, the fact that she was the young lady of a major family was what made it worse.

By now, both her and Lin Yue’s family would have received the news about Heavenly Sword Sect rescuing them from the Duality Sect and yet even after such a long time, they didn’t come here, nor did they send someone for the two of them.

It was clear that the two of them had been abandoned.

But she wasn’t worried about it. On the contrary, for the first time in her life, she felt like she was free. For the first time in her life, she didn’t have to worry about the crushing burden that came with her role.

Though she felt lost, she was sure that she would make a life of her own.

Thinking like this, she just let out a soft breath before focusing back on the man beside her, who was still looking around with a dazed expression.

"Have you seen enough?" Her voice was still soft, but it was still cold and emotionless. This wasn’t purposeful, but after years of living like this, it had become a habit. It would take a long... long time for her to change this, or perhaps it might not even be possible.

"Hmm." Yang Ze nodded with a smile. The earlier gloom from his face disappeared upon looking at the breathtaking scenery around him.

"So, tell me." Raising her chin, Xiao Ruolan asked in a whisper. "What is worrying you?"

"Excuse me!" Yang Ze was taken aback by this sudden question. For a moment, he even believed he had heard it wrong. Why would someone like Xiao Ruolan ask him this question?

It wasn’t his fault. After all, when was the last time someone asked him about his well-being? Usually, it was the other way around, and even then, he would be met with cold replies.

Now, for the first time, someone genuinely asked about his worries. How could he not be moved?

"Nothing, I was just thinking about..."

Halfway through his sentence, Yang Ze froze. He wanted to give a random answer, but looking at her gentle red eyes and the genuine expression on her face, he swallowed those words back in before letting out a heavy sigh.

"...." Xiao Ruolan didn’t interrupt him but waited patiently for him to speak.

And sure enough, after five minutes of inner struggle, Yang Ze gave her an honest answer.

"I was thinking about escaping from this Sect."

"Oh!?" His answer was something Xiao Ruolan wasn’t expecting. In her eyes, this man should feel honoured to stay in one of the mighty sects. How many mortals and loose cultivators wish to enter the sects, but can’t? How many mortals would give up their entire life-saving just to be able to spend a minute here?

In their eyes, spending a day in the sect was a supreme honour. Something that they could brag about their entire life.

And yet, there was someone in front of her who didn’t care about it at all and was even thinking of ways to get out of this place.

"Why?" She couldn’t help but ask. "Why would you want to leave the sect?"

"Now that the war is over and the Heavenly Sword Sect has formed an alliance with the Duality Sect, why do you want to give up such a safe haven?"

She just couldn’t understand how his brain worked. On one hand, she and Lin Yue were trying their best to find a way to join this sect, and on the other hand was this man who wanted to get out of this place.

She just couldn’t understand why...

"Do you not like my company?"

Her words, which were spoken as a matter of fact, sent tremors in Yang Ze’s heart.

He didn’t know how to answer the question. On one hand, it was exactly because he was afraid of these two women that he wished to leave, but on the other, the past few interactions with Xiao Ruolan had been nothing but pleasant.

If it were only her, he would definitely choose to stay here. But the problem was Lin Yue.

He didn’t know what she was thinking or planning. Even though it was Cang Yue who humiliated her, he was equally responsible. Even if he refused to violate her later, the damage was already done.

It was a miracle that she didn’t immediately kill him.

Even though she appeared calm, Yang Ze could feel the deep hatred in her eyes every time she looked at him. Even when she was drunk and poking his penis, the hatred didn’t diminish. On the contrary, it only got stronger.

"It has nothing to do with you." Yang Ze shook his head in response. Compared to Yun Lin, Xiao Ruolan was a million times better. Even after getting her butt spanked by him, she didn’t show any hatred or murderous rage toward him. On the contrary, she was rather calm and composed.

"Is it because of Lin Yue?" Speaking till here, she took a step forward, directly standing in front of Yang.

Her body was almost touching his, with Yang Ze’s head just a hair’s width away from her massive breasts, which were swaying back and forth.

Because of his height, Yang Ze had to look up to meet her gaze, but it was often interrupted by her large, milky breasts.

The two of them gazed into one another’s eyes for a long time.

"If that is the case, then you don’t need to be afraid of her." Xiao Ruolan muttered softly.

"I will keep you safe from her. I will keep you safe from everyone. Just follow me."

Her voice grew increasingly soft as she spoke, and by the time she was finished speaking, her face was just a few inches away from Yang Ze’s.

Yang Ze seemed to be in a daze as he heard her voice.

When was the last time someone said these words to him?

After he lost his father back on Earth, he shouldered every responsibility, every debt and every harm. How many times he wished to just lie down and hope for some comfort. How many times had he dreamt that he, too, had people looking out for him?

And now, for the first time in both his lives, someone finally said these words to him.

Without him even realising it, he was already leaning towards Xiao Ruolan.

The two of them could feel each other’s breath on their lips. The heat, the fragrance and the sound of a rapid heartbeat... they could feel it.

Their faces grew closer and closer and closer...

And just when their lips were about to touch, the surprised sound of a woman pierced the air.

"Eh! Is this your child? When did you give birth to such an old boy?"
