Her Marriage: The Night is Still Young
Chapter 155: That Damn Lying Bastard
CHAPTER 155: CHAPTER 155: THAT DAMN LYING BASTARD
"Henny..." Josephine Thompson paused in her steps and instinctively glanced toward the lawn.
In the sunlight.
Henry Gallagher was wearing a blue hospital gown.
Although his head was shaved bald, there wasn’t a hint of sickness on his little face.
"You two, come play soccer with me, hehe."
Henry Gallagher chased after a colorful ball, his little legs moving quickly, his laughter as crisp as wind chimes.
The nursing staff and servant nearby were frantically running in circles, trying to catch him.
Yet he skillfully dodged them all.
"Young master, be good, come back to the ward with us. If President Gallagher finds out you ran out, he’ll fire all of us."
Henry Gallagher didn’t heed the servants’ pleas, continuing to play wildly on the grass.
After all, he’d been almost driven mad by being cooped up in the hospital for so long!
Although he didn’t have leukemia,
he was still sick, but now his condition had finally improved, and he was full of energy.
Josephine Thompson furrowed her brows slightly, a sudden feeling of indescribable shock and suspicion surging within her.
Can someone with leukemia be this lively?
She was deep in thought.
Then she heard a "bang," followed by the sound of a child crying.
Henry Gallagher had fallen onto the lawn, his little hand covering his knee, tears streaming down.
The servant saw this and hurriedly ran over to help, but he pushed them away, "I don’t want you to touch me! I want Daddy and Grandma!"
Josephine Thompson’s steps seemed nailed to the ground.
She was baffled.
"President Thompson, we should go now; the follow-up appointment is soon." Ruby reminded beside her.
Josephine Thompson frowned but still walked over to Henry Gallagher, "Henny, why are you here?"
Henry Gallagher looked up and saw Josephine Thompson, his eyes instantly brightened, and his crying immediately stopped.
Following closely.
He pushed himself up from the ground, forgetting the pain in his knees, and rushed toward her with his arms open, "Mommy~, Mommy~"
The shout of "Mommy" was so crisp and sweet, like a little cannonball crashing into Josephine Thompson’s embrace.
Josephine Thompson was bumped back half a step, instinctively supporting his waist, her whole body stiffened.
"You..." She wanted to correct him but met Henry Gallagher’s upturned little face.
The child’s eyes were sparkling, looking at her with a face full of surprise.
"Henny, why did you run out here?"
Henry Gallagher tightly clung to her waist, rubbing his face on her belly, "Mommy, I miss you so much!"
Josephine Thompson’s heart felt lightly struck, both sour and numb.
She looked down at the little guy in her arms.
His breathing was even, and his cheeks were rosily healthy. He was very agile while running and jumping earlier, able to get up immediately after falling, which didn’t resemble a child with leukemia.
The servant hurriedly came forward pulling his arm, anxiously coaxing him, "Young master, please return to the ward with us."
"President Thompson, the young master must quickly return to the ward, goodbye."
Henry Gallagher held onto Josephine Thompson tightly, refusing to let go, "I don’t want to go back to the ward, Mommy, I want to go home with you."
"My illness is already better, I want to be discharged, I want to go to kindergarten, I want to play games with friends. I don’t want to be hospitalized, I don’t want..."
"..." Josephine Thompson heard this, instinctively crouched down, and looked at him in surprise.
"Young master, please go back!"
"No, no."
Josephine Thompson raised her gaze, looking gloomily at the servant, "Does Henny truly have leukemia?"
The servant was startled by her gaze, her eyes flickering as she stammered, "Yes...yes, President Thompson, don’t listen to the young master’s nonsense, he just wants to go out and play..."
"I’m not talking nonsense!"
Henry Gallagher immediately raised his voice, sticking his head out from Josephine Thompson’s embrace, his little face full of stubbornness, "My illness is already cured! Daddy insists on keeping me in the hospital! He says I must wait for Mommy to come get me before I can leave!"
Josephine Thompson heard this, her heart sinking even lower.
She stared at the servant’s panicked expression, then looked at the energetic child in her arms, her doubts surging like a tide.
How can leukemia be cured so quickly?
A child with the disease doesn’t just struggle to run and jump; even walking is difficult. But Henny’s appearance on the lawn earlier was more energetic than most children his age.
Josephine Thompson then stood up and held Henry Gallagher’s hand, "Come, Mommy will take you to the children’s hospital for a comprehensive check-up."
The servant saw this and turned pale with fright, "President Thompson, President Gallagher instructed that the young master should not leave the hospital."
Having said that.
Two servants immediately stepped forward, trying to take Henry Gallagher away, "Young master, I’m begging you, please come back to the ward with us!"
"Yes, let’s go back to the ward and play games, didn’t you want to ride horses? We can play the game of riding horses when we return."
Henry Gallagher thought for a moment but still shrank behind Josephine Thompson.
"I don’t want to, I want to go home with Mommy."
"Ruby, ask the driver to prepare the car, we are going to the children’s hospital immediately." Josephine Thompson said, instinctively bending down to pick up Henry Gallagher.
She must take Henny for another check-up today.
Was leukemia diagnosed mistakenly?
Or is Nathaniel Gallagher deceiving her again?
He is best at lying.
If he really deceived her again, she would immediately abort this child.
"President Thompson, you cannot take the young master away!" The servant blocked the way, immediately calling for the bodyguards.
Josephine Thompson, seeing this, became even angrier, "Step aside, Henny is legally my son too."
"I now suspect my son’s illness is a misdiagnosis. I want to take my son to another hospital for treatment. If you know what’s good for you, step aside."
As she spoke, she gestured for the bodyguards behind her to come over.
Having suffered several losses in succession, she was especially cautious about safety.
So, now she never leaves home without at least eight bodyguards.
Eight tall and burly bodyguards immediately stepped forward, holding down the two servants.
"President Thompson, you really can’t take the young master away, someone help!"
The servants were in a panic.
During Henry Gallagher’s hospital stay, it was relatively safe since he stayed in the hospital.
Therefore, there were four bodyguards with him, while the others were just servants and caregivers.
"Don’t come over."
Josephine Thompson held Nathaniel closely.
Under the escort of the bodyguards, she headed straight for the hospital entrance.
The Gallagher Family’s servants were anxious, stomping their feet in frustration, but were firmly blocked by Josephine’s bodyguards, unable to get close.
Henry Gallagher lay against her shoulder, his little arms tightly hugging her neck, excitedly shouting, "Mommy, are we really going to the children’s hospital? Will there be cartoons there?"
"After the check-up, can I go home?"
Josephine Thompson didn’t speak, just quickened her pace.
Sunlight shone on her face, highlighting her tense jawline, cold as ice.
Her mind was filled with the deceitful face of Nathaniel Gallagher. If she really discovered that Henny wasn’t sick, she would never forgive him.
"President Thompson, be careful."
Josephine Thompson crossed the garden, then the hall, heading straight for the main door.
However.
Just as she reached the revolving door at the hospital entrance, she collided with a solid chest.
The servants following closely behind turned pale upon seeing Nathaniel Gallagher, "President Gallagher."
"President Gallagher, Miss Thompson is taking the young master to the children’s hospital, we couldn’t stop her."
Nathaniel Gallagher listened, frowning slightly, blocking Josephine Thompson’s path from above, "Josephine, where are you taking Henny?"
Josephine looked up, meeting Nathaniel Gallagher’s deep, unfathomable eyes.
His expression was cold, clad in a black shirt topped with a camel coat, both stern and noble.
"Nathaniel Gallagher, step aside."
"Daddy!"
Henry Gallagher saw him, slipped from Josephine Thompson’s arms, ran to his side, but quickly turned back to tug Josephine Thompson’s hand, "Daddy, Mommy wants to take me for a check-up, she said I can go home once I’m better!"
Nathaniel Gallagher’s gaze fell on the servants, his tone heavy as if about to drip water, "Why haven’t you taken the young master back to the ward?"
"Oh, oh, okay."
Seeing this, Josephine Thompson immediately shielded Henry Gallagher, "Nathaniel, is Henny really suffering from leukemia?"
Nathaniel Gallagher was slightly startled, his face unchanged, "Josephine, do you think I would joke about a child’s life?"
"Ha, keep making up lies then!"
Josephine Thompson sneered, bent down, and picked Henny up again, "I’m taking him for a check-up at the children’s hospital. Whether he has leukemia or not, we’ll know after checking."
Nathaniel Gallagher reached out to stop her, "The doctors have shown you so many diagnosis papers, what are you still doubting?"
Josephine Thompson glared at him coldly, "I suspect you’re lying to me."
"I want to take Henny to a different hospital for a check-up. If he indeed has leukemia, then I’ll keep my promise and have the baby to save Henny."
"But if he doesn’t, Nathaniel, don’t expect me to have this baby."
Nathaniel Gallagher furrowed his brow, looking at her with disappointment and helplessness, "Josephine, do you really have to be so ruthless?"
"Don’t forget, you carry your own flesh and blood, a living life."
Upon hearing this, Josephine Thompson became even more convinced that Nathaniel Gallagher was lying.
"Don’t talk to me with all this nonsense. If you won’t let me take him, it proves you’re lying to me."
Nathaniel Gallagher’s expression instantly darkened, his throat moved as if to say something, yet he remained silent.
Having deceived her too many times.
She grew wiser, harder to fool.
"... Do you really have to go?"
"Yes, this check-up must be done today." Josephine Thompson tried to sidestep him, "Whether it’s true or false, we’ll know after checking. If you have nothing to hide, then don’t stop me."
Nathaniel Gallagher let out a heavy sigh, "Josephine, stop making a scene. I wouldn’t deceive you, so let’s stop this, alright?"
His voice softened a bit, carrying a barely noticeable hint of pleading, "Henny’s body is frail, he can’t handle the stress. If a check-up is needed, I’ll have an expert come to the hospital to do it, okay?"
Nathaniel shook his head vigorously in Josephine Thompson’s arms, "I want to go to the children’s hospital with Mommy! Daddy, you’re lying; I’m not sick!"
"Henny!" Nathaniel Gallagher’s tone deepened, carrying a hint of sternness.
The child recoiled slightly from being scolded yet stubbornly clung to Josephine Thompson’s neck, "I’m telling the truth!"
Josephine Thompson’s heart turned completely cold.
She saw the flash of panic in Nathaniel Gallagher’s eyes, along with the child’s candid confession, and understood everything.
That damned bastard liar.
He was deceiving her again.
"Move aside." Her voice was devoid of warmth as she proceeded straight ahead with Henny in her arms.
Nathaniel Gallagher’s bodyguards moved to intervene but paused when he raised his hand.
"Fine, if you want to go, then go ahead! But, I detest being wrongfully accused."
"If after the check-up at the children’s hospital, it’s confirmed that Henny has leukemia, how are you going to make it up to me? Spend a night with me?"
Hearing this, Josephine Thompson was so furious she almost spat blood, "... Nathaniel Gallagher, you’re truly sick!"
