Her Marriage: The Night is Still Young
Chapter 2: She Really Can’t Take It Anymore
CHAPTER 2: CHAPTER 2: SHE REALLY CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE
"Let go, I’m not in the mood..."
Josephine Thompson was filled with anger, resisting being intimate with him for the first time.
But unfortunately, she had no room for resistance.
By day, Nathaniel Gallagher was dignified and elegant, rarely smiling. By night, he was like a possessed demon, insatiable and relentless.
Moreover, he stood at 192 cm tall, weighing over 80 kilograms. His hobbies were playing golf and free boxing. To oppose him in strength was akin to throwing an egg against a rock.
Tonight...
He was even more punishing and domineering.
Both fierce and overbearing.
The furious aura of Josephine was instantly scrambled by his fiery kisses.
...
An hour later.
Josephine was utterly exhausted, on the verge of sleep.
"Still angry?" Nathaniel’s sharp, handsome brows bore an aura of victorious conquest.
Josephine was drenched in sweat, but the anger in her heart still burned. "Nathaniel, I want to ask you something."
Nathaniel lowered his head to gently kiss her forehead, persistently evasive. "Let’s talk about it after we finish!"
Josephine couldn’t wait, directly voicing her confusion, "I went to the hospital today and saw our son’s test results..."
Before she could finish.
"Ring, ring, ring!" The bedside phone rang urgently.
Outside, the sharp voices of the servants could be faintly heard.
The two were interrupted.
It was so late that if it weren’t something urgent, the servants would not dare disturb the couple’s rest.
Nathaniel frowned and immediately picked up the bedside phone, "Hello."
On the other end, Mrs. Dixon’s anxious and frantic voice came through, "President Gallagher, something’s wrong. Vivian is having another episode, and she’s in terrible pain. I don’t know what to do. You need to come and see her now!"
Hearing this, Nathaniel suddenly threw off the covers and got off Josephine, "Mrs. Dixon, don’t worry, I’ll be right there."
"Okay, okay."
Nathaniel hung up the phone, didn’t bother to dress. He simply threw on a robe and rushed out in a hurry.
Josephine’s heart clenched, the anger she had bottled up for so long was now unstoppable.
"Nathaniel, stop right there."
"Didn’t you say Vivian wouldn’t stay overnight here anymore?"
Nathaniel looked impatient, "Vivian hasn’t been back in a while. Mrs. Dixon and Uncle Shaw miss her. Even Henny can’t bear to see her go, so she’s staying tonight."
"Vivian’s having a heart attack. I need to go check on her right away..."
Josephine was even more enraged upon hearing this.
Every time Vivian stayed at the Gallagher Family home, she conveniently had a relapse. And each time, in the middle of the night, she would call Nathaniel to take her to the hospital.
And every time they quarreled or had a conflict, it was always because of Vivian.
She was truly at the end of her tether.
"You’re not a doctor. What good can you do there?"
"You should call an ambulance now or have the servants take her to the hospital."
"No, I can’t be at ease." Nathaniel had no patience to explain further, leaving her behind as he walked out the door.
Josephine’s breath caught, and her heart ached faintly.
The thought of getting a divorce grew even stronger.
She finally realized that Vivian and Nathaniel’s relationship wasn’t just simple sibling affection. She was his sweetheart, the moonlight he couldn’t forget.
Four years ago.
She and Nathaniel met on a blind date arranged by their respective families.
He was the only son of Audenburg’s top financial empire, and she was the only daughter of a family of antiquarians.
Their families were well-matched and decided to unite forces.
So, under the pressure of their elders, they got married within three months. Before marriage, she wasn’t aware of his emotional history.
Downstairs.
Nathaniel was already carrying Vivian out of the house.
He hurriedly walked towards the garage, urgently instructing the driver, "Quick, start the car, and take Vivian to the hospital immediately."
Vivian’s pale face was filled with pain and frailty. Her thin arms were tightly wrapped around Nathaniel’s neck. Her head rested weakly on his shoulder, tears brimming in her eyes as she sobbed softly.
Josephine stood by the upstairs window, watching the scene coldly, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
If... if she had known before the marriage that he had a lingering sweetheart, she would have chosen to stay single. She would never have agreed to marry him.
In matters of love, she was never someone who would muddle through or make compromises.
At this moment.
She was very aware that her marriage to Nathaniel had reached its end.
...
The entire night.
Nathaniel did not return.
She was already accustomed to this.
In the past year, whenever it involved Vivian, he would act like a completely different person. He would disregard everything, fiercely defending her like a chivalrous knight.
If Vivian hadn’t come from a humble background, chances are, the title of Mrs. Gallagher would have been hers.
At 8 AM.
Josephine got up early and printed the divorce papers.
Before the marriage, they had both signed a prenuptial agreement.
Each of their assets remained their own, and post-marriage income was not considered shared. Thus, there was no financial division between them.
The only thing to divide was the custody of their son.
Though her son wasn’t close to her, he was still her flesh and blood, a life she had risked half her life to bring into this world.
So, she would not give up her son’s custody.
After signing the divorce agreement.
Josephine grabbed the car keys, ready to head to work.
Seeing her come downstairs.
Auntie Linton looked at her with concern, "Miss, are you going to The Antiquarian Market today?"
"Yes~"
"Miss, you’re too lax. I’m not gossiping, but... you really need to be more mindful."
Auntie Linton had come from the Thornton Family.
Josephine’s parents passed away early, and Auntie Linton was like half a mother to her.
"What’s going on?"
Seeing her so calm, Auntie Linton became more worried on her behalf, "Oh my, my silly girl. Your husband is about to be taken away, and you still have the mind to go to work?"
Josephine appeared indifferent, not intending to hide it from her, "Auntie Linton, I’ve already made up my mind to divorce Nathaniel."
