CHAPTER 39: GUARDIAN ANGEL

In the medical room, Selene sat next to Hannah who was still unconscious from the beating Big Mama had given her. She had treated Hannah as far as she could. She really felt worried about her.

Like she didn’t care about herself who was also injured in the head. But what she was currently thinking about was Hannah.

To her, Hannah was like an innocent child who was sentenced to that prison. She had tried to find out everything about her from Caelum.

She was like a guardian angel who couldn’t leave her alone.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left you alone for so long for all this to happen. I will make sure that those who did this to you will be severely punished," she said.

Not long after, Caelum came and approached Selene. He noticed that there was still a wound on Selene’s head that hadn’t even been treated yet.

"You were so focused on her that you forgot about yourself." He took some antiseptic and red medicine for the wound on her forehead.

"I don’t think that’s important at all. Right now I’m concerned about her condition," Selene replied.

Sighing, Caelum forcefully turned the chair Selene was sitting on until the legs squeaked loudly. This was enough to make Selene startle at Caelum’s sudden movement.

The man finally treated the wound on her forehead, his face so close to her made her feel her heart beating very fast.

"I have already dealt with those involved in this matter. So you don’t need to do anything else after returning to your cell room later," he said with both eyes still focused on her.

"Then what about that damn big woman?" asked Selene who was still looking very upset.

"She’s in the medical room in the East wing. I deliberately ordered the others to take her there instead of this one and you’ll meet again."

She knew that Caelum had done this on purpose so that Selene would not suddenly attack Big Mama again and even worse.

She had almost killed the woman with the detergent she was about to put in her mouth. It was obvious that Big Mama could have been poisoned, especially since the detergent was a chemical.

After putting the cotton on Selene’s forehead, Caelum reorganized the medicine box.

"Come to my office tonight anyway. I have something important to talk to you about too," he said.

He could have said it right now, but he saw Hannah starting to regain consciousness.

"Selene?" she called in a low voice that still sounded weak.

"I’m here. How are you feeling?" she asked as she rubbed Hannah’s head.

"It hurts like hell, like I’ve been hit by something really hard," she replied.

"I’m sorry, I should have been by your side."

Hannah glanced at Selene with one eye swollen and her face bruised. "It’s not your fault. I didn’t do it on purpose because Stella and the others pushed me."

"They did?" asked Selene again, this time clenching her fists so hard that her knuckles turned white.

She then recounted what had happened when Selene had left all because Hannah had refused to wash the bed sheets for Stella and her friends.

Hearing this, Selene became even angrier but Caelum immediately caught her as if he was holding her back.

He didn’t want Selene to get into any more trouble, or he would have to send her to the isolation room. She had been in trouble so many times that she should have been put in isolation from the start. But Caelum never did.

Too many times, the other prisoners would rebel, feeling that what Caelum was doing was unfair.

"You don’t want to go into isolation and have to leave Hannah alone. It’s better to control yourself," he said.

Left with no other choice, Selene chose to remain silent and say nothing.

Later that evening, when Selene finally went to Caelum’s office. She asked Ronald to keep Hannah in the medical room. Because she didn’t want the girl to leave the medical room without her.

While in her office, as usual they locked the door so that no one could enter.

It was there that she saw him sitting in his chair writing something on his desk. "So why did you suddenly want me to come here? Wouldn’t we normally just do it in your room?"

Her tone was so seductive, she seemed to know what he wanted. But Caelum instead showed a video on his laptop, where people were starting a petition about Selene.

"The Siren Of Justice’s release petition? They want me to be free?" she asked, confused.

Caelum nodded his head. "Yes, many Zondalians want you to be free. Because they think you’re not a monster. You helped to get rid of the real monsters."

She never expected that so many people would sign this petition for Selene’s release. She saw that there were already 17,000 people who signed it agreeing that Selene should be released.

But she also sees that some people disagree with this and there are already nearly 15,000 who have signed that section.

"Even if there are more people who agree, I’m not sure the court will still accept this decision. I mean, do you believe Zondalian law will be easily changed just because of a petition like this?" Selene asked.

She knew that Zondalian laws were harsh enough, and were unlikely to change just because of a petition by citizens. However, what if those who agreed to let her go made a big demonstration to the government to follow what was in the petition?

Selene thought this was ridiculous, as she felt it would all be in vain.

"Who would make a petition like this anyway? I’m sure none of them know what I look like, because Siren of Justice is all they know. They don’t even know who I really am," she muttered.

She then turned her head, settling on Caelum from his laptop.

"Don’t tell me you took part in this petition either. You’re not the one who made this petition actually exist are you?" she asked playfully.

For a moment, Caelum’s office was silent, no one spoke until the man opened his mouth again.

"What if I told you I was one of the people influential in the creation of this petition?"
