CHAPTER 53: MOUNTING RESENTMENT

It had been five days since Caelum had left the prison on an errand. It had also been 5 days since the prisoners at Redboiler prison had been treated badly by their new chief.

Although it was only temporary, there seemed to be nothing they could do to fight back. Afraid that it would be reported to Caelum and they would be punished twice for what they had done.

Or perhaps one of them was waiting for the right time.

The days went on as usual, the prisoners going about their business from morning until noon. Sarah was assigned to watch over them as temporary chief for the day. In two days Caelum would return, and for some reason the intensity of Sarah’s cruelty had increased.

It was as if she didn’t want to quit her current position or leave Redboiler Prison.

"Quickly kneel down and apologize!" Veronica slapped one of the prisoners because he kept looking at Sarah.

She considered it sexual harassment by the male prisoner, which is why she and her partner beat him up in front of everyone.

Even though the male prisoner was only looking at Sarah who was passing next to him. But it was seen as a harassment that made him end up battered.

"Stop that! Don’t you think this is wrong? Just because he’s looking at you doesn’t mean it’s harassment!" said one of the wardens, Ronald.

He was fed up with what was happening lately, as all the rules were being broken by Sarah and her two female wardens.

This was in direct contradiction to the rules Caelum had made for the guard for several years.

"So you support this man who sexually assaulted Chief Sarah?" Dorothy asked. "You disgusting perverts! Normalizing something that is clearly wrong!"

"What’s wrong? He only looked at Chief Sarah for a few seconds because she passed next to him. Is that considered wrong?" asked Reina, the woman who had fought with Selene.

She herself was annoyed by Veronica and Dorothy’s glorification of Sarah, as if the woman had an extraordinary position above them.

"It was a very natural reflex movement. Even I will do the same when someone passes next to me," said Reina again.

Sarah who heard that immediately approached Reina and stood in front of her. "You know what separates the two of us? You’re just a piece of trash that even looked at for a long time, has no value at all. Unlike me."

Reina’s eyes immediately narrowed sharply when she heard Sarah say that which was very demeaning to her.

As soon as Reina was carried away by emotion, she smashed Sarah’s face. However, Sarah’s movements were unexpectedly much faster than hers. With one hand holding a stick, she dodged the blow and then struck Reina in the chest until the woman was hit enough to fall backwards.

Everyone was wide eyed in shock, seeing Sarah fight back for the first time.

Her punches were unpredictable, and her reactions were quick enough to parry Reina’s punches.

"You dare to fight your own chief? Alright then. Veronica, Dorothy! Take her to the isolation room and lock her up and don’t let her out!" she ordered.

"Understood!" The two women then dragged his body, towards the isolation room.

Sarah then turned to Ronald, and gave him a sharp look. "You’d better shut up and submit to me than I’ll throw you in the isolation room too."

GASP!

They didn’t expect that Sarah would say that when the isolation room was only for prisoners or wardens who really violated the big rules. But she used that room just because someone didn’t like the rules she made.

Selene calmly watched everything from the corner of the room, as if she was calculating something before executing her plan.

During lunch break, Selene sat together with Hannah and Ronald.

"I hope Chief Rothwell returns soon. This prison is a mess because of Chief Sarah. I don’t understand how they could make her a chief," Ronald said with a sigh.

He even had to stay quietly near Selene and Hannah so that Sarah and the others wouldn’t see him.

"I agree with that. My body hurts from doing all the things they say. Especially yesterday when Selene and I were told to take off our clothes and dance in the mud," said Hannah.

"What? Is that true, Selene?!"

The woman nodded her head, confirming that what Hannah said was true. Because of that, Selene had been silent since yesterday as she held her emotions in check. Ronald who knew about it was even more upset, and he intended to report this to Caelum when he returned.

He was sure that anything to do with Selene, Caelum would listen to him.

As they were talking, Celene saw Dorothy and Veronica entering the grounds after their lunch.

"Ronald," she called out which made him turn around immediately. "Take Hannah to the medical room right now. Just tell them that she has anemia and needs to rest in the infirmary."

"What do you mean? I don’t have anemia at all," Hannah said in confusion.

"Just do it now. Whatever it is, make Hannah stay in the medical room."

Hearing Selene’s serious-sounding voice, the two of them nodded and left the field for the medical room.

Just then, the brown-haired woman walked up to a male prisoner who was hanging out with his friends.

The man turned his head when Selene tapped him on the shoulder, then nodded his head.

Veronica and Dorothy, who had just arrived at the field, looked around. Their eyes were immediately drawn to Selene and the male prisoner who was walking away.

"What is that woman doing? She looks very suspicious and where are the two of them going?" Veronica asked.

"I don’t know either. Maybe we should just follow them," said Dorothy who was agreed by her colleague.

The two female wardens then followed Selene and the man, going to a place that was an unused back warehouse.

The one they used to make love in. They both went inside, making Veronica and Dorothy even more curious, as they didn’t know the function of the shed before.

"Perhaps they want to do something in there? We better catch them before something happens!"

The two women then ran into the warehouse, but they did not see Selene anywhere.

"What? I saw them enter this warehouse earlier. Then where are they?" asked an astonished Veronica.

"How could she just disappear like that?" Dorothy looked around them but the warehouse was quite dark and deserted.

Finally, they heard footsteps approaching and saw Selene.

However, Selene was not the only one in the warehouse, there were many male prisoners including Dargon and his men in the warehouse. There were approximately 10 people in the warehouse surrounding the two of them.

"Looking for me? Or... Them?"

The two women were wideeyed in shock at the sight of the male prisoners surrounding them, looking so hungry and eager to lunge at the two of them.

"Get them, boys."
