CHAPTER 55: DON’T MESS WITH US

At the same time, Sarah was in her office, more specifically Caelum’s office in the prison. She was looking around the office as if looking for something she might be able to use or perhaps find something interesting about Caelum.

She was still upset about what the man had said when they met at the harbor. And when she got a taste of being a chief in that prison, where everyone bowed down to her. Sarah didn’t want to quit and she wanted to stay on as chief.

However, she had to realize that soon the original chief would return and she would have to go back to the mainland.

"Maybe I can find something to bring him down, that way I can take his current position."

She muttered as she opened every document available, including the files on the bookshelf. However, she did not find anything interesting to ruin his reputation.

She only found the data of the prisoners, as well as Selene’s special documents. As soon as she saw the woman’s name, Sarah became curious as to what case she was involved in and why the Caelum had such thick documents on Selene.

"When I look at it, why is that woman’s document so much thicker than the other prisoners’? Was that much information given to her?" Sarah asked in confusion.

She didn’t know that the documents contained information that Caelum had gathered from his men in the mainland. And that was all the information he had put into the forum.

Her curiosity was heightened because she had no idea that the documents would be so thick just to talk about Selene’s case. The first time she met her, Sarah felt that there was something different about the female prisoner.

As her curiosity grew, Sarah decided to sit down and open the document to read it.

"Let’s see what that strange woman did. She’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m so sick of her," she muttered.

However, before she could read the contents, the door to the chief warden’s office suddenly opened. Two women dressed as wardens ran in crying and their faces were pale with fear.

Their bodies were trembling, making Sarah surprised and immediately approached them who were her colleagues.

"What’s wrong with you two? Why do you look so scared!" she asked with concern but they didn’t answer.

They looked like two people who had been severely traumatized, and asked to leave the island right now.

"We want to leave! We want to leave this island immediately, please take us away quickly!" they said, looking shocked.

Those who had just woken up after the revenge operation incident. They remembered so well what had happened in the warehouse that they were scared and wanted to return to the mainland right now.

Sarah tried to calm them down, but none of them wanted to look calm. Even when she gave them a glass of water they were terrified. She didn’t understand what had happened, but seeing some bruises, she thought that they had been bullied.

"So they have the nerve to fight us? I won’t let this go on!" said Sarah angrily but the two women held her back.

"We want to go home! We don’t want to be here anymore. Do something!" said Veronica.

They were both too scared and traumatized to explain what happened. Especially to the point of having to remember such a horrific incident.

"But we can’t leave this island until Rothwell returns!"

Hearing that, they both looked even more scared and just sat there, staring blankly as their hysterics stopped.

She wanted to reprimand and blame the other prisoners for what had happened, but she could not leave them.

Because of their continued desire to return to the mainland as soon as possible, he finally decided to contact someone who could pick them up.

"Alright, I’ll call someone to pick us up right away. You guys just sit here quietly," she said.

In the midst of the chaos, she suddenly heard footsteps at the door. Thinking someone was there, Sarah immediately got up from her seat and opened his office door.

However, there was no one there and she closed the door again. Unknown to her, Selene was hiding behind the wall near Caelum’s office door with a satisfied smile.

She felt very satisfied with what had happened. Especially hearing how scared Dorothy and Veronica were.

"That’s the reward for daring to play games with us."

She walked away and returned to her cell.

Later that evening, Caelum returned to the prison as soon as he heard that Sarah had asked for someone to come and pick her up that night. He didn’t understand why Sarah and the two female wardens suddenly wanted to go home.

When they met at the harbor at the end of the island. Caelum saw Veronica and Dorothy hugging Sarah in fear.

"What’s going on here? You’re supposed to have two more days to go, but you’re asking to go back right now."

Turning to Caelum, Sarah looked furious and spoke coldly to it.

"Why don’t you ask your subordinates and prisoners. What are they doing to my two colleagues!" she snapped and left the island on a boat.

His eyes sharpened, he turned to go to his office. He wondered, what on earth was going on?

But seeing Sarah’s reaction made Caelum sure something bad had happened.

As soon as he entered his office, he was greeted by a woman who sat waiting on his desk.

"You’re finally back. I’ve been waiting for you. In fact, I haven’t been able to sleep for a few days because I kept thinking about you," said the woman, who was none other than Selene, as she walked up to him.

Seeing her in front of him, Caelum instantly forgot what had just happened and dropped the things he was carrying.

He quickly walked over to her, hugging her tightly as he had not seen her for five days. Once he saw her again, he felt like he had come home.

"You missed me too, didn’t you?" asked Selene as she rubbed Caelum’s back.

"You don’t know what you’ve done to me that I can’t get away from you," he whispered as he continued to hug her tightly.

Inhaling the scent of her body before finally pulling away and looking into her eyes to reunite in a kiss.

A smile spread across Selene’s face as she returned the kiss.

"Welcome home, love."
