Hero or Villain, Both
Chapter 191: Teaching them
CHAPTER 191: TEACHING THEM
"That’s how you use the Soul Search spell."
Though I had just finished teaching them what I knew about the Soul Search spell, it really didn’t seem like they understood what I was talking about.
Over the past few days, after taking some time to settle in the village, I had been teaching the villagers necromancy as they had requested.
I had wanted to take some more time to settle in the village, but they just wouldn’t give me that time.
I really had completely underestimated how much they cared about learning necromancy. Or it was better to say that I had underestimated how crazy they were about it.
So in the end, I had to teach them the two spells that they cared about the most.
They cared about these two spells the most since they had felt how it feels to have these two spells cast on them. That made them want to learn how to use it as well and they pestered me to teach them.
Today was actually the third day that I was teaching them, but it still didn’t seem like they were making any progress.
I already had a guess that this would be the case after seeing the talent that they possessed when it came to necromancy.
Or it was better to say that they didn’t exactly have the right personality for it.
There was no problem when it came to mana or their control of their mana, they had developed this over the years while trying to learn necromancy. It was just that they weren’t aggressive enough when controlling their mana to use these spells.
I tried pointing it out, but they seemed to refuse to listen.
When they refused, there really wasn’t anything that I could do about it.
So I just taught them what I knew and hoped that they would give up once they were tired.
Other than this, there was something else that I taught them based on what they already knew.
"Let’s spar today!"
"My skeletons are much stronger than before!"
"You won’t be able to defeat my Shining White!"
I couldn’t help shaking my head when I heard them like this.
All the people of this village knew how to create undead, that was the one basic thing that they had all learned when it came to necromancy. It was just that the technique that they learned was a bit outdated and a bit inefficient.
Once I helped them revise their technique, the skeletons that they raised with this spell were much stronger compared to before.
That was what had kicked off a craze of villagers sparring with each other with their skeletons.
When I saw them like this, it reminded me of my past life where people dueled each other with toys. Whether it was a certain brand of spinning tops or a certain brand of dueling cards, they just enjoyed playing against each other.
Though it certainly was strange seeing these skeletons fight against each other like this.
After the lesson was over, I went to a certain part of town with Tucker.
As I stood over this pit, I asked him, "How are things going with animating them?"
Tucker’s eyes lit up as he said, "We’ve already cleared out half of this pit and we’re getting ready to move onto the second and third pit."
After he said this, his voice filled with even more excitement as he said, "I never thought that we would be able to clear out these pits. When we brought these bones back, we thought that it would just be to use them as spares. But now we have the chance to turn all of them into skeletons as well."
The pits that he was referring to were the pits filled with bones that were in front of us.
Since this village went out to find corpses that they used as materials for their necromancy, they would naturally have a surplus of skeletons like this. After all, there was only a limit to how many undead they would be able to raise.
The ones that were in these pits were the ones that they hadn’t been able to turn into undead.
Part of it was that they were weaker than the undead that they already had.
The other part was that they had gathered too much sometimes.
The one other thing that the revised technique that I taught them had was that it allowed them to use less mana when it came to creating the undead and controlling them. That meant by using this technique, they were able to create and control even more undead.
That allowed them to contract even more undead and clear out these pits.
After hearing what he had to report, I said with a satisfied nod, "Keep it up."
Tucker gave a firm nod when he heard this before revealing an excited look.
In the mind of these villagers, all they were thinking about was getting as many undead as they could.
But in my mind, I was planning on using them for a fight.
First was the task of conquering more villages and towns in the wilderness to establish myself here.
With the undead, it would be easy to do something like this.
The second reason that I wanted as many undead as possible was because I wanted to create a force that would be able to face the Undead Society.
I had already confirmed that this village didn’t have a single thing to do with the Undead Society.
That meant that this was the perfect place to create a group that would take down the Undead Society to become the authority when it came to necromancy on the continent.
But this wasn’t something that I had told them yet...
"I have something that I want to discuss with everyone tomorrow. I hope that you will all gather in the square tomorrow morning so I can talk about it with you all."
Tucker’s eyes lit up when he heard this.
It was clear that he thought that I was sharing some necromancy knowledge, but I didn’t correct him.
It would help to gather people.
