High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 1606 - 350 After Breaking the Window
CHAPTER 1606: CHAPTER 350 AFTER BREAKING THE WINDOW
It was like a house deep in the wilderness.
Though the corners of the house were covered in moss, the walls pierced with holes from insects, and the thatched roof leaked when it rained, such a house standing in the open wild, with solid walls wrapped around, and a stove burning with smoky fire, would give travelers staying inside an inexplicable sense of warmth and safety.
The Guardian Array of the First University was just like that house.
Admittedly, this Array was sensitive and paranoid, always freaking out when young wizards and witches played slightly outrageous games, while turning a blind eye to the lazy bugs and red chain snakes sneaking onto campus. But with such an Array overhead, it was like the witches were wearing safety shorts; no matter what they did, the students of First University would act with boldness and confidence.
And now, this house had been overturned.
The golden web in midair was pierced by a fu bullet under everyone’s gaze.
Jiang Yu was stunned.
Nikita was stunned.
Forty-one and Master Baoyangzi were stunned.
The Hunters in the Lakefront Corridor, the students from the four academies rushing over, and the teachers maintaining order by the lake all stood there dumbfounded.
The small Mount Tai Stone in Sepulano’s hand slipped and fell to the ground with a slap. Augustus stood with his mouth open, staring at the sky, seeming to want to say something, but couldn’t. Lei Zhe stood like a statue, even as a parrot, its wings frozen in surprise, crashed into his face.
The parrot screeched as it fell to the ground, feathers flying, yet the controller of the Sacred Will didn’t even think to brush off a few stray feathers from his shoulder.
Among everyone, perhaps only the ’perpetrator’ in midair maintained the ability to think.
"It’s not... over!"
Zheng Qing couldn’t calm the shock in his heart. After firing a shot, the surging magic power rushed in crazy, compensating for the pressure just vented. In just a blink, the windmill symbols on the charm gun stabilized, and the magazine was filled with magic, ready for a second shot.
"Bang!!"
The angle of the second shot was slightly lower than the first, with a gust of hot wind, passing through the no longer obstructive Guardian Array, skimming the tall treetops in the distance, and vanishing into the silent depths of the Silent Forest, becoming a dazzling gleam.
Zheng Qing could faintly see a trail of black dust following the direction of the fu bullet, swirling in midair, like a horizontal tornado.
Though it was far away, Zheng Qing felt as if he had already smelled the dense, burnt scent of wood carbonizing.
He didn’t have time to ponder whether this was synaesthesia or illusion.
Because in the charm gun, the third bullet was poised to launch.
And his arms trembled, unable to hold the increasingly heavy barrel. The charm gun’s muzzle lowered slightly, almost aiming at the academy’s front courtyard teaching building.
Zheng Qing seemed to see dozens, even hundreds of students, caught unawares, turn into a plume of black ash, or leave a shriveled skeleton huddled in a corner, with milky-white ghosts imprisoned on the bones howling for a hundred years.
"Ah!!"
Zheng Qing gritted his teeth, his face reddening, veins bulging on his neck, exerting all his strength, gripping the charm gun like lifting a massive stone.
Finally, at the moment the trigger was pulled, he shifted the muzzle away from the direction of the teaching building.
"Hoo!!"
After three shots, the thief was gone, and the massive magical power originally accumulated in his body was mostly discharged. The magic energy mass over his heart lake stabilized again. The magic conduits inserted into the energy mass calmed down, beginning to draw energy from the mass again to refill a new fu bullet in the charm gun’s magazine.
Zheng Qing could clearly feel that the influx and outflow of magic within him maintained a fragile balance. For the short term, he wouldn’t easily explode.
But he didn’t feel like smiling at all.
Because the third fu bullet that was just fired, though it didn’t land on the teaching building, it struck Lin Zhong Lake—a deep green fu bullet, enveloped in scorching heat, heavily hitting the tip of the small white tower at Lake Heart Island.
Point meets spike.
Such words suddenly popped into Zheng Qing’s mind; it was the first time he saw a fu bullet containing forbidden curse power being intercepted head-on. A deep green met a spot of pure white in midair.
It was like pressing a light button.
The originally quietly standing seven-story small tower on the island suddenly changed color, the tower turning from white to red, then to yellow, then green, and the green kept deepening until it was pitch black.
Crack!
The sharp sound of shattering sounded in the warlock’s ear.
The seven-story tower standing on Lake Heart Island wobbled slightly, and cracks appeared on the tower body, spreading from the top to the base.
Crack! Crack!!
Like wood breaking, or glass shattering.
The cracks on the tower quickly expanded, in a moment spreading like a spiderweb across the entire small tower.
Crack! Crack! Crack!!
Pieces of white jade slid off the tower body, shattering on Lake Heart Island, into clusters of fine white dust. The seven-story small tower began collapsing layer by layer from the top.
In just a moment, it became a faint mushroom-shaped cloud of dust.
Zheng Qing felt the whole Buji Island tremble.
He looked around helplessly yet with a hint of hope, hoping that those sensations were an illusion, hoping someone would tell him it was just a nightmare.
But it wasn’t an illusion.
The earth trembled underfoot, rocks fell from the artificial hill by the lake, waves several meters high rose in Lin Zhong Lake, and the white buffaloes hiding in the bay corner screamed, tumbling chaotically in the surging waves as if they were out-of-control balls.
The sound of shattering came from the sky.
A clear halo circled the sun, the clouds churning wildly. At the point where the White Tower tip and the deep green fu bullet had collided, light twisted and coiled, slowly forming a vortex.
The vortex’s center was pitch black, like a black moon, echoing with the golden sun higher up.
"Hoo!!"
A three-headed black flood dragon dozens of yards long abruptly appeared under Zheng Qing, its tail curling to scoop up the Faceless Demon who was holding its head and playing dead, and at that moment, a tall figure also ’whooshed’ down onto the back of the black flood dragon.
"Thanks!"
Nikita turned back, giving Zheng Qing a sweet smile and a gesture of gratitude, then clamped her legs tightly. The black flood dragon roared with its head high, swung its tail, transformed into a wisp of black smoke and rushed out of the school bounds, diving deep into the endless Silent Forest.
With the threat of the fu bullet gone, and without the school’s Guardian Array restrictions, in addition to Lake Heart Island’s White Tower being destroyed, its aftershocks resonating, the school’s wizards were still in such extreme shock that they hadn’t fully recovered, allowing Nikita to escape unimpeded.
