CHAPTER 387: CHAPTER 387 REPORTS

Bella stepped out of the bathroom a few minutes later, her soft green top draping gently over her frame and her wide cream-colored pants swaying around her ankles as she walked. She looked fresh and rested, her damp hair brushing her shoulders, eyes a little shy as they flickered toward Leo. She preferred cute dresses and frilly outfits, he knew that, but when he chose clothes for her, he always picked minimal tops and bottoms. She liked his choices though; they were casual and minimalist.

Leo’s eyes softened for a moment before he cleared his throat and reached for his shirt, slipping it on as if trying to hide whatever had just flashed through his mind. "Let’s go," he murmured, and Bella nodded quickly, clutching her small purse, her cheeks still holding a faint pink hue.

They left the palace together, and as they walked down the steps toward the car, the air around them was filled with the soft scent of roses drifting in from the garden. A hint of that sweetness lingered around Bella’s clothes and hair even after they settled into their seats. The drive to the private airport was peaceful, the sun already high and the world unusually calm after such an intense night. Bella leaned her head against the window, her eyelids slowly growing heavier, and before Leo even noticed, she had fallen asleep beside him, her breathing quiet and warm. Seeing her curled up beside him made his chest feel warm in a familiar, comforting way.

On the plane, she curled up on the wide seat beside him, her head leaning toward his shoulder until it gently rested against it. He adjusted her position without waking her, settling her cheek more comfortably on him. She didn’t stir. She trusted him too much, and the warmth of that trust made something heavy settle in his throat.

While she slept, he opened his phone, scrolling through the emails that had arrived.

Full Body Checkup: Bella Moretti

He skimmed through the report with sharp eyes. Heart rate, blood pressure, organ function, hormone analysis, deficiencies, allergies. Everything was clean. Stable. Normal.

Except one thing.

His gaze paused on her blood group.

It matched his.

Then another email caught his attention, Jay’s report. He had asked Jay to have a full body checkup from Sahravine; he had a personal medical team there too.

Full Body Checkup: Jay Moretti

He opened it quickly, half expecting chaos because Jay never behaved. But aside from the injuries on his hands, everything else was surprisingly normal.

Leo exhaled slowly, leaning back in his seat. His little brother was fine. Bella was fine.

He looked down at the girl sleeping beside him, her fingertips curled delicately near his sleeve, her hair soft against his shoulder. Her breathing was steady, and every rise and fall of her chest reminded him how small she truly was, and how much power she had over the calm or storm inside him.

His hand floated for a moment above her head before he finally gave in and brushed her hair away from her face, letting his fingers graze the softness of her temple.

She didn’t wake.

Leo’s thumb slid across the screen again as another wave of notifications arrived. Three more emails, each labeled with a familiar name.

Full Body Checkup: Lina Moretti

Full Body Checkup: Alessandro Moretti

Full Body Checkup: Victoria Moretti

He opened each one carefully, his eyes scanning with the same quiet intensity he gave to business contracts.

His mother’s report was clean.

His father’s was healthy as ever.

Nonna’s was better than half the young people Leo worked with; she would outlive them all, he thought with a faint smile.

He let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding, his shoulders relaxing.

Then the final report came in.

Full Body Checkup: Leonardo Moretti

He tapped it open.

Heart: normal

Blood pressure: normal

Cholesterol, hormones, organ function: all within perfect range

His body was fine.

His health was perfect.

He lowered the phone and looked at her again, her breath warm where it brushed his sleeve, her cheek faintly pink even in sleep. One of her fingers twitched, brushing his hand lightly as if reaching for him without meaning to, and his heart did a slow, heavy turn in his chest.

Everything was normal.

Everyone was healthy.

He felt relieved.

The afternoon sunlight spilled gently through the entrance hall as Leo stepped inside, Bella still fast asleep in his arms. The house was almost unnervingly quiet, so quiet that even his footsteps felt louder than usual. He glanced around with mild amusement. Of course it was empty. At this hour, it always was.

Jay was definitely curled up in his room, probably snoring and drooling on his pillow after exhausting himself with drama. His parents were most likely attending some charity luncheon or visiting one of their business circles.

And Nonna, well, she was probably terrorizing volunteers at her clubhouse with her "miracle oils."

"Peaceful for once," Leo muttered under his breath, shifting Bella gently against his chest.

He carried her upstairs, moving with a softness that didn’t match the hard lines of his body. When he pushed open their bedroom door, a familiar warmth settled over him. The curtains fluttered slightly, the bed looked impossibly soft, and Bella’s sleepy breath brushed against his collarbone as she stirred faintly.

"Still sleeping?" he whispered with a small, helpless smile.

He lowered her carefully onto the bed, her small hand slipping from his shirt to the blanket. She curled instinctively into the pillow, her hair tumbling across her face like dark silk. He brushed it back, his fingers pausing on her warm cheek.

She had slept the whole night.

She slept through the flight.

She slept through the car ride home.

Meanwhile, he hadn’t even blinked.

"You really are my little sleepy bunny," he murmured, unable to keep the fondness off his face.

He leaned forward and pressed a slow, lingering kiss to her forehead. Bella breathed out softly, almost as if kissing him back in her sleep.

He stepped aside and pulled a small notepad from the drawer. With quick, neat handwriting, he wrote a simple message:

Rest well. I’ll be back soon.

—Leo

He placed it beside her hand, knowing she would reach out and find it the moment she woke.

Before leaving, he stood there for a moment, watching her gently rise and fall with her breaths, his expression warming in a way no one else ever got to see.

Then he straightened, slipped into his suit jacket, and left the room silently.
