CHAPTER 417: CHAPTER 417 THERE WAS NO MAN LUCKIER THAN HIM
The moment they left the office and stepped into the shopping district, Bella had slipped out of her Isaac disguise and returned to her soft, glowing self. Her hair fell in gentle waves around her shoulders, her cheeks were bright with excitement, and her hands kept tugging Leo’s sleeve as if she couldn’t wait a single minute longer.
Leo had planned to take her to the women’s section first. He had even thought of calling the designer ahead of time. But Bella had her own agenda. Before he understood what was happening, she had taken his wrist and marched straight toward the men’s section with full confidence.
"We should buy your dress first..." Leo said helplessly, almost tripping over her enthusiasm as she dragged him forward. "Bella, at least look at your dresses—"
"No!" Bella declared firmly, grabbing his arm with both hands and hugging it tightly against her chest. "I want to buy a suit for you first!"
Leo blinked as if she had just spoken in an unknown language. "You?" he asked, genuinely shocked. "You want to buy my suit?"
"Yes!" Bella nodded excitedly, her eyes sparkling like warm honey. "Yes, yes! With my own money!"
Leo had no idea when he started smiling... but he did. A slow, warm, disbelieving smile that softened everything sharp about him. Seeing her hug his arm, wearing that proud little expression, made something melt inside him in the gentlest way.
She stood there, cheeks flushed from excitement, tiny fingers tangled around his sleeve, waiting for him to respond like a child waiting for praise.
He chuckled softly, lowering his head to look at her properly. "Thank you, bunny," he said, his voice deep with affection.
Bella puffed her chest slightly, as if she had achieved something grand. "You’re welcome!" she said in a small, proud voice.
Leo reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her cheek, his fingers lingering for a moment. His chest swelled with a feeling so warm and full it almost surprised him. She wanted to buy something for him with her own money, something as special as a ballroom suit.
She was thinking of him first.
She wanted him to look good.
She wanted to choose something special with her own hands.
He hadn’t expected it... and it touched him so deeply he didn’t know how to express it.
Damn, he thought, a soft rush of emotion flooding him. I’m lucky.
Lucky in a way he never thought he deserved.
His hand slipped around her waist gently, pulling her just a little closer as they walked.
"Alright," he murmured, his voice warm and proud. "Your wish."
Bella beamed, tugging him forward again. "Come on! We will pick the best one for you!"
Leo let himself be dragged, helplessly amused, watching the way her excitement bounced in every step she took. The world around them blurred, and all he could see was her—his little bunny, eager to buy him something with her own savings, proud as if she were gifting him the crown of a kingdom.
And Leo felt it again.
There was no man luckier than him.
The moment they stepped inside the luxury menswear section, the soft lighting reflected off rows of hangers, mirrors, and neatly arranged colors. A saleswoman hurried toward them with her best professional smile, but the second her eyes landed on Leo, her smile shifted into something brighter, almost sparkling.
"Hello, sir," she said, her voice softening, her posture straightening. "How can I help you today?"
Her gaze wandered too long, especially on his face, his height, the elegance of his clothes.
Bella didn’t notice. She was too busy scanning the suits with excitement.
But Leo noticed.
Immediately.
His expression tightened, his eyes sharpening like ice forming over still water.
Bella, completely innocent, pointed at the nearest rack. "Show us some latest suits, please."
The saleswoman nodded, but her attention remained on Leo..dragging slowly from his jaw to his shoulders, then down to his hands. Leo felt her stare like dust he wanted to wipe away. His palm twitched lightly, sliding to Bella’s waist, pulling her a little closer without saying anything.
The woman didn’t get the message.
"Right this way," she chirped, leading them to a display filled with sleek black suits..sharp, elegant, expensive.
Bella walked straight toward them and pouted. "Not those," she sighed. "He wears black all the time. I want something different."
Leo shrugged lightly. "Those are fine."
The saleswoman immediately stepped beside him, almost too close, flipping her hair and smiling. "Yes, I agree. Sir will look very hot in these."
She lowered her voice slightly, thinking she was helping him reject Bella’s opinion. "Sometimes classic is better, sir. You must be tired of constant fuss."
Bella froze.
Her smile faded.
Her hands lowered.
A heaviness settled in her stomach as she turned to look at the woman.
Leo’s hand shifted around Bella’s waist instantly.
His eyes darkened.
The saleswoman didn’t understand the danger. She leaned forward again, still focused on Leo.
Bella finally found her voice. "No," she said firmly, standing straighter. "I want something different. Show me other colors."
The saleswoman blinked, then gave a small, dismissive laugh. "But I think sir likes black. I’m only thinking of what will make him—"
Before she could finish, Leo finally turned his full gaze on her.
"I didn’t ask for your thoughts," he said coldly, his voice sounding like frost. "Your job is to assist my wife. Not contradict her."
The woman’s face paled. "I—I didn’t mean—"
"And don’t assume I’m tired of her," he continued, his arm tightening around Bella’s waist until she fit perfectly against him. "If she wants a different color, you will show it."
Bella stared up at him, stunned, a soft warmth blooming across her cheeks.
The saleswoman swallowed. "Y–yes sir. My apologies. Right away."
She quickly stepped to the side, pulling out racks with navy, charcoal, emerald, wine, and slate-gray suits.
Bella’s eyes sparkled again.
Leo kept his hand on her waist.
As the woman fumbled with hangers, Bella whispered, still blushing, "Leo... you didn’t have to scold her like that."
He leaned down, his voice low and firm near her ear. "I won’t let anyone disrespect you. Ever."
Bella’s heart fluttered and she squeezed his arm softly.
Leo’s eyes softened for her... and then hardened again whenever the saleswoman accidentally glanced his way.
He was going to make sure she never looked at him like that again.
He took out his phone with his free hand, moving with the same calm a man uses before pulling a trigger. He forwarded the shop’s name along with the saleswoman’s name, which he had noted from her nametag, to Assistant 6, his expression cold as stone.
Leo: Fire her.
And teach her how customers are supposed to be treated.
