Chapter 310: Confrontation about the Truth
CHAPTER 310: CONFRONTATION ABOUT THE TRUTH
Dominique felt his world crumble right in front of him. His heart clenched in pain. He made up his mind that he would try to pursue Athena again to complete his family.
His best friend encouraged him to be brave. He should let Athena know about his feelings for her.
But now, Athena told him she was going to marry Vladimir. This news broke his heart into pieces.
’Should I just give up now?’ He asked himself, lowering his gaze while clenching his fists.
’I should be happy for her. But I can’t.’
Without hesitation, Dominique suddenly grabbed Athena, hugging her tightly.
"Athena... No. Please don’t marry him. Give me another chance. I love you so much. I will do everything. I can’t let you go... Please come back to me. I’ll be a better man. I won’t hurt you... ever again." Dominique said, pleading with her desperately.
His tears streamed down his face. He tightened his grip on her body. He was afraid of letting her go.
He was crying, showing his vulnerability and desperation as he clung to her as though she was his life line.
"I couldn’t live without you. Please be mine. Please accept me again. I will do my best to make you happy."
Athena slammed her eyes shut, trying to push him away. She struggled to break free from his tight hug.
’It’s too late now, Dom. I don’t want to be involved with you again. My love for you died along with Sabrina... I’m no longer the woman who was madly in love with you.’
Athena thought, feeling the lump in her throat. She didn’t want to cry. But her heart was also in pain.
"There is no ’us,’ Dom. Everything between us has always been a lie. I have nothing to do with you anymore. I’ve achieved my goals, and you mean nothing to me now. You’re nothing but garbage in my eyes," Athena said coldly, staring at him indifferently.
Her words were like daggers hitting his heart right now. But Dominique could only hold her tight, refusing to accept her words. He shook his head frantically.
"Please, Athena... give me one last chance. I want to be with you... I want to make amends for everything," He continued begging her.
However, Athena tried to strengthen her resolve. She reminded herself not to get swayed by his words.
Hearing Dominique’s desperate cry of plea, Athena could barely contain her raging emotions.
"Stop it, Dom! Just let me go. We’re already over! You killed me once. I won’t be foolish enough to let you back into my life after everything you’ve done!" Athena’s voice cracked as she erupted in a sudden outburst.
"Look at me, Dom! I am Sabrina. I am her. But Sabrina is gone... her love for you is gone. Only hatred is left." She could no longer hold back. The words spilled out before she could stop them. At last, the truth slipped from her lips, raw and undeniable.
The room was engulfed in a deafening silence. Athena’s chest heaved with every breath as she struggled to steady her raging emotions. She had believed that Dominique would finally let her go now that he knew her true identity.
But to her shock, Dominique only pulled her closer, his grip tightening as if he feared she might vanish.
"I know," he murmured, his voice low but steady. "I’ve always known you’re Sabrina. That’s exactly why I love you... more than anything."
Athena was shocked beyond belief. She had never expected that Dominique already knew that she was Sabrina.
"How did you know?"
Athena’s voice trembled, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"I investigated you," Dominique confessed. "I had my doubts from the start. I always knew you came back for revenge. Sabrina... I regret everything. I still love you. When I thought you died... every single day since then has been torture for me. I couldn’t forget you, no matter how hard I tried. I wasn’t supposed to love you, but I failed... I failed to stop my heart. I was a fool to hurt you, but I never wanted you dead."
His voice cracked, but he pushed on. "When you disappeared, I finally realized just how much I loved you. I’ve missed you every day... every damn day."
Athena’s lips pressed into a thin line before she suddenly lashed out, her fists pounding against his chest.
"Stop lying, Dom! If you really loved me, then why did you marry Sasha after I faked my death? Do you think I’ll ever believe your lies again? You betrayed me! You cheated on me! I died... and I was reborn. I am Athena now. I’m happy... with Vladimir. He’s a real man, someone who can protect me. A man who would never hurt me like you did."
She shoved him back, her voice cold and steady. "This is the last time I’ll ever see you, Dom. And you know what? I’m glad to see you suffer. This is my revenge... my justice. I don’t care if you still love me. Because we both know... we can never be together again."
Her words landed like stones, spoken with unshakable conviction. After pouring her heart out, Athena ran away from him. She stormed out of the ward, leaving Dominique behind.
Dominique could only watch her back until she vanished from his sight. He punched his chest numerous times, regretting everything while blaming himself. He cried silently in his ward.
’It’s too late. She can never forgive me. She won’t listen to my explanation. Besides, I can’t justify my actions. I hurt her. I broke her heart. I don’t deserve her.’ Dominique understood the reason why Athena hates him so much. She would never give him another chance because she finally found someone else. It was Vladimir.
Meanwhile, there was someone else who had overheard the heated exchange between Athena and Dominique. Sasha.
She had found out that Dominique was confined in the same hospital as her and, driven by a mix of worry and lingering attachment, had decided to visit him. But what she hadn’t expected was to find Athena there... locked in a tense confrontation with Dominique.
She became curious, so she stayed hidden, secretly eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Damn it!" Sasha muttered under her breath, her hands clenching into fists. "Is it true? Sabrina is still alive? And that woman... Athena... she’s actually Sabrina? She fooled all of us! She came back just to get her revenge. And Dominique... he loves her because she’s the real Sabrina!"
As the shocking revelation sank in, Sasha felt the pieces fall into place. Now it all made sense. Athena’s sudden appearance, the way she had deliberately driven a wedge between Sasha and Dominique, ruining their marriage.
It wasn’t random. It was calculated. It was all part of Sabrina’s carefully plotted revenge.
