CHAPTER 63: CHAPTER 63: HOW ABOUT WE SEE IF I’M ACTUALLY UP TO IT?

The girl, who had been asleep, pouted and let out a soft hum, clutching onto Adrian Jennings’s shirt sleeve.

"Are you awake?" Adrian Jennings leaned slightly, with his hands supporting either side of Talia’s body, his eyes lowered as he looked at her.

"Sto..." Talia’s eyes remained closed, she moved her lips and murmured a low word, "Sto..."

"Ethan?" Adrian Jennings squinted a little, his deep eyes as dark as ink, with a cold glint flashing at the bottom.

Ethan?

Ethan Grant?

Even when drunk, she still calls out Ethan Grant’s name?

It’s bad enough that she babbled nonsense while drunk outside saying he wasn’t capable in that area, now she dares to call Ethan Grant’s name?

Oh right, he had forgotten the reason he initially went to the bar!

He originally went to settle the score with her.

She hasn’t even tried it, so how would she know he can’t?

Adrian Jennings furrowed his brow, feeling a chill wash over his heart.

She’s really a little heartless.

He stood up straight, his gaze falling on Talia, looking down at her from above, "Are you still thinking about him?"

Even though the girl couldn’t hear him, Adrian Jennings still asked.

The air was thick with jealousy.

Whose jar of vinegar got knocked over?

"Talia Rhodes." Adrian Jennings’s voice was low and seemed threatening, "Think about it before you speak..."

The next moment, the girl’s eyelashes fluttered, and she restlessly turned over on the bed, burying her face in the pillow, muttering in a playful tone, "Story, I want to hear a story..."

Adrian Jennings: "..."

Story?

So it was "story" not "Ethan".

Adrian Jennings smirked, the tense chord suddenly relaxed.

He leaned closer with a doting tone, "Talia, let me take you for a bath, and after that, I’ll tell you a story to lull you to sleep, alright?"

His Talia liked cleanliness, if she woke up the next day to find herself still in yesterday’s clothes, smelling of alcohol, she’d definitely be disgusted with herself.

The room was quiet enough to hear the girl’s long breaths.

Talia was sleeping soundly, unable to respond to him.

After waiting silently for a few seconds, Adrian Jennings exhaled, turned around to the bathroom to fill the tub, then came back to lift Talia up.

"Let’s go for a bath, and after that, sleep cleanly."

He undressed Talia, placing her in the bathtub.

Talia sensed the movement, opened her eyes, her gaze dazed, "Adrian..."

"Talia, be good."

Adrian Jennings gently and cautiously wet Talia’s hair, squeezed shampoo onto his hand, lathered it, and then massaged it into her hair.

Talia leaned against the bathtub, still dazed but relaxed completely in the warm water.

She exhaled comfortably, enjoying Adrian Jennings’s service.

After the bath, Adrian Jennings dried the water off Talia and wrapped her entirely in a towel, carrying her into the bedroom to dry her hair.

After drying her hair, Talia woke up.

"Stay with me." She grabbed his collar tightly.

Adrian Jennings lowered his eyes, coaxing warmly, "Okay, I’ll stay with you."

"Tell a story." Talia murmured softly.

Adrian Jennings nodded compliantly, "Alright."

He opened his phone, found some bedtime stories, and started telling them to her in a deep, gentle voice.

Gradually, Talia stopped fussing.

The hand clutching his collar fell away.

Adrian Jennings finally lulled Talia to sleep.

He originally planned to leave, but as Talia was drunk with no one to care for her, he was worried and decided to stay overnight.

There were no toiletries or change of clothes for him here.

Adrian Jennings made a call asking the Jennings Family maid to bring some change of clothes and toiletries, and he used Talia’s bathroom for a shower.

The girl on the bed was sleeping peacefully.

Adrian Jennings chuckled indulgently, his deep, gentle gaze fixed on her fair and pretty face.

After staring for a few minutes, Adrian Jennings walked over, tucked her in, and planted a gentle kiss on her face, "Good night."

After confirming Talia was soundly asleep and no longer restless, Adrian Jennings softly tiptoed to the living room.

The apartment had two bedrooms and a living room, but the other room had no bed.

Tonight he would have to make do on the sofa in the living room.

As night fell, calm sleep embraced him.

...

At dawn.

Talia usually followed a routine of going to bed early and rising early, waking naturally at the usual time.

After the hangover, her head was splitting with pain.

Talia took a moment to gather her thoughts and slowly regained her senses.

She only recalled going to a gathering with colleagues last night, then going to a bar and having a few drinks.

Her alcohol tolerance wasn’t great, she didn’t drink much before blacking out.

Talia vaguely remembered a man coming over later, she clung tightly to him and spouted a bunch of nonsense.

Thinking of this, Talia shivered with panic, suddenly wide awake with a surge of anxiety, oh no, oh no, how could she have tangled with a man? How would she explain this if Adrian Jennings found out?

Would he be jealous?

It wasn’t that she feared Adrian Jennings’s anger, she was just afraid of his misunderstanding and feeling upset.

She cared about Adrian Jennings’s feelings, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.

Talia lifted the covers, got out of bed, and suddenly noticed her clothes.

Pajamas?

When had they changed?

How did she get back last night?

Talia opened the bedroom door, intending to wash up in the bathroom, looking up abruptly to see someone lying on the sofa.

The man had a blanket over him, his feet dangling over the sofa edge, eyes closed with his chin slightly raised, displaying a smooth and distinct jawline.

Adrian Jennings!

Why was he here?

Oh my gosh!

Did he come to the bar last night to bring her back?

Would he have seen her pulling and tugging with that man last night...

She carefully tried to recall but couldn’t remember the man’s face at all from last night.

Talia was at a loss, feeling unable to face Adrian Jennings.

The man on the sofa lay with a proper posture, his sleeping face strikingly handsome.

Talia was captivated by her gaze.

In the tranquil morning, the room was devoid of any noise, Talia could even hear her heartbeat.

Seeing the man’s tall body curled up on the sofa, Talia couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

She walked over, stood in front of Adrian Jennings, and extended her finger to poke his cheek.

The man was unaware and slept soundly.

Talia bravely squeezed his face, and this time Adrian Jennings reacted.

He opened his eyes, drowsily looking at Talia, "Talia, you’re awake."

Talia paused, lightly pursing her lips, "Adrian, go and sleep inside."

Adrian Jennings got up, rubbing his hair, "What time is it?"

There was a clock on the living room wall.

Talia glanced over, "Seven-thirty."

Adrian Jennings pulled Talia into his arms, wrapping his hands around her, his chin resting on her shoulder.

"It’s Saturday, aren’t you sleeping a bit more? Getting up so early." His voice carried the alluring rasp of just waking, sensual and inviting.

The warm breath softly brushed against Talia’s ear, causing her to involuntarily shrink, making half her body feel numb.

"No, slept enough, drank too much last night, head hurts a bit."

"If your tolerance isn’t good, don’t drink so much." Adrian Jennings chuckled lowly, "Do you know how much trouble you cause when you get drunk?"

Nearly made him lose his composure in public.

Talia suddenly recalled clinging to the man last night, her face flushed with embarrassment, "I... I’m sorry, Adrian..."

Adrian Jennings’s voice carried a gravelly charm that was intoxicating, "Hmm? Just sorry and that’s it?"

He curved his lips, "You haven’t experienced it yet you were telling people I had a problem in that area? Should we see if I’m really capable or not?"
