ra’s body was limp in my arms, a thinyer of cold sweat coating her skin. I could barely breathe. Her blood stained my hands as I pressed them hard against the wound, trying ito /istop the bleeding. But nothing worked. Nothing could fix this.

“No… No!!!” I couldn’t hold it back, the desperation crawling up my throat.

Her breaths were shallow, her lips pale, her eyes barely open. It felt like I was holding onto a ghost. My hands trembled violently, and the panic wed at my chest, squeezing all the air out of me.

“ra… ra, please…” My voice cracked as I pressed my forehead to hers, my hands shaking uncontrobly. “Come back to me… God, please…”

Tears burned my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall. Not yet.

I hadn’t cried since I was seven–since I buried my parents with my own hands. But now, I felt it. That crushing, all–consuming sorrow.

And the rage. I was going to tear the world apart if I had to. Whoever did this to her would pay.

“My King!” Dario’s voice cut through my thoughts. He burst into the room with a bucket of water, his face a mask of urgency.

The fire raged in the corner, but the water he threw on it barely made a dent. The mes roared back.

“King! We need to leave! The fire’s spreading, and Princess ra–she needs treatment!” Dario’s grip tightened on my shoulder, his voice frantic.

For a second, I just stared at him, disoriented, as if his words were in anguage I didn’t understand. The world felt like it was spinning out of control. But I couldn’t afford to be lost in it. Not now.

I reached down and scooped ra into my arms, my body moving on instinct.

Her eyelids fluttered open, just a crack, and she murmured, “…Cle… Dario…”

The words hit me like a p in the face.

Why the hell was she calling for him? Was she in more pain than I thought? Did she trust him more than me

    now?

“Dario,” I growled, my voice dripping with something cold, something dangerous. “Do you want me to-”

“NO!” I snapped. Before I could even think, I had ra pressed to my chest, holding her like she was the only thing that mattered. I couldn’t let her go. Not now.

My heart was in my throat as I sprinted out of the room, barely even aware of the fire at my back. The hospital was a few streets away, and I was going to get her there. Fast.

It was already past midnight when I arrived, the silence of the empty hallways only broken by the loud crash of the hospital door mming open. The receptionist jumped in her chair, wide–eyed, as she saw me, carrying ra covered in blood.

“DOCTOR!” My voice was rough, almost feral. “She needs help. Now.”

The receptionist scrambled to her feet, fumbling for the phone, her hands shaking as she called for the doctors. Nurses rushed out with a gurney, their faces a blur as I carefullyid ra down.

My hands were still shaking as I stepped back, eyes wild and desperate.

“Save her,” I choked out, my voice hoarse. “You have to save her.”

The nurse hesitated, her eyes wide with the weight of my gaze. “We will try our best, my king.”

I mmed my fist against the wall. “Don’t fucking try,” I snarled, my fury spilling over. “You make sure you do whatever it takes to save her.”

The nurse flinched back, a pale color draining from her face. The tension in the room was unbearable. My jaw was tight, every muscle in my body coiled like a spring, ready to snap.

“She’s YOUR QUEEN,” I growled, seething with rage. “If she leaves here with even a scratch on her, every one of you will pay.”

The nurse stumbled back, her face stricken with fear.

Dario gently tugged on my sleeve, his voice barely above a whisper. “My king… They’ll do everything they can. Let them work.”

I closed my eyes, breathing heavily, trying to hold onto my sanity. But the fear was still there, gnawing at my

    insides.

I had never realized how much ra meant to me until I saw her on that floor, fighting to stay alive. That fear of losing her–it threatened to consume me whole.

I couldn’t even think about it. I refused to.

I let Dario lead me away as the doctors and nurses took her inside, mming the emergency room doors

    behind them.

1 copsed onto the bench in the hallway, my head in my hands.

I had to keep it together. I couldn’t lose control now.

But how could I not? My soul was breaking into a thousand pieces. I couldn’t imagine a world without her in it. I couldn’t breathe without her

And then the anger came, bubbling up from deep within. Whoever had done this to her–whoever had dared

toy a finger on her–would regret it. I would make sure of it. They’d pay with their lives.

Dario’s voice broke through the fog of my thoughts. He handed me a towel, his face etched with concern. “For

    the blood.”

I looked down at my clothes, realizing for the first time that I was covered in her blood. But I didn’t care about that.

    I cared about her.

I looked at Dario, my eyes narrowing. “Why did she call for you?”

Dario flinched. His lips parted but nothing came out.

“She stretched out her hand to you,” I said slowly, my voice a cold whisper. “What’s going on between you two?”

His eyes flickered, his expression tense. “I–she was lonely,” he muttered, looking away. “She had no one to talk to but me.”

I didn’t trust that answer. Not for a second.

“Since she trusts you so much,” I hissed, “did she say anything about anyone who might want to hurt her?”

Dario’s silence screamed louder than words ever could.

I took a step toward him, my voice low and deadly. “What do you know, Dario? What did she tell you?”

His face paled, and he lowered his head, avoiding my gaze.

“No,” he murmured, barely audible. “No, she didn’t say anything.”

I grabbed his cor, pulling him closer. “Are you sure?”

    “I… I swear, my king,” he stammered. “I swear I don’t know anything.b” /b

I released him with a push. “You better be telling me the truth.”

bJust /bas I turned to walk away, the emergency room door flew open. A doctor rushed out, looking frantic but

    relieved.

I jerked forward, grabbing the doctor by the arm. “HOW IS SHE?”

The doctor’s eyes met mine, and I saw the relief in his face. “She’s safe, my king. The wounds aren’t fatal

I exhaled sharply, my heart racing “Thank God”

The doctor gave a small smile, trying to lighten the mood. “And congrattions, my king. Princess ra is pregnant.”

I couldn’t even process the words, my world spinning as the reality hit me. ra was carrying my child. And despite everything, she was alive.

I sank back onto the bench, my hands trembling. The emotions were too much. Too many. Too overwhelming.

But one thing was certain: no matter what, I would protect her. Always.
