Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen
Chapter 503: How can you be so cheap!
CHAPTER 503: HOW CAN YOU BE SO CHEAP!
By the time the sun was directly overhead, everyone was both exhausted and thirsty. They found an open grass field and stopped to rest.
Daisy Ginger could no longer walk either, leaning against a tree trunk, breathing lightly.
Emma Magus was lost somewhere in the crowd, already out of sight.
Sweat stung her eyes as she wiped the heat from her face, watching Edward Stephens smoking and talking to someone on his wireless phone.
A moment later, he walked over to her and said, "The rescue team is here."
Daisy nodded, "They’re professionals, should be more efficient than us."
Edward took a drag from his cigarette, furrowing his brow, remaining silent.
The man’s profile, like white jade, showed no redness under the sun, but he was also affected by the heat, beads of sweat rolling down.
Daisy handed him a tissue, signaling him to wipe off the sweat, when Ryan Smith came running out of the woods, calling to Edward, "Edward!"
Daisy and Edward looked over together.
"Emma twisted her ankle," Ryan said, "It’s badly swollen, she can’t walk anymore."
Edward exhaled, furrowed his brow, "Let’s go have a look."
Ryan led them, taking about ten minutes, to find Emma Magus sitting under a tree, crying.
Seeing Edward, she cried out with tinges of sobs in her voice, "Edward, my foot hurts so much, I want to see a doctor!"
In a place like this, where would there be a doctor for her? Did she hurt her brain from the pain?
Daisy secretly cursed a few times, walking over with Edward to check Emma Magus’s sprained foot.
Her high heels were already off, and her well-maintained feet were now swollen and bruised, her calves covered in scratches.
Being a woman too, seeing her cry like this, Daisy couldn’t help feeling slightly sympathetic.
This girl probably never suffered such hardships in her life.
Edward squatted down to check her swollen ankle, then said to the red-eyed Emma Magus, "No bone damage. When the rescue team arrives, you go back with them."
"Edward..."
Edward looked at Daisy, his eyes slightly deep, "You can’t hold on either, stay here with her and go back with the rescue team."
"Edward..." Daisy pressed her lips.
"You’ve been walking all morning, I know you’re out of strength." Edward rubbed her hair, "This has nothing to do with you, no matter what happens to him, you don’t need to feel guilty."
Looking at his gentle eyes, Daisy couldn’t help but want to ask, what about you?
If George Stephens fled home because of your slap, if he isn’t found, would you be guilt-free?
She knew she couldn’t say those words, so she nodded slightly, "Okay."
Upon hearing this, Emma Magus started whining beside them, "Edward, I don’t want her to stay with me, you stay. I’m scared being here alone!"
"Shut up." Edward finally had enough of her. He turned around to face her, his gaze somewhat cold and his tone harsh, "If you keep acting insane, I’ll leave you here alone!"
"..." Emma Magus had never seen him speak in such a cold manner, startled, she trembled all over, not daring to speak again.
"..." Ryan discreetly touched his nose, turned his head away, pretending not to see.
He liked beauties, but such an annoying beauty made him lose all thoughts of chivalry.
"Alright," Daisy spoke up, "I’ll stay with Miss Magus, you guys go ahead. Once the rescue team joins us, I’ll call you."
Edward acknowledged, reaching out to hug her.
"Be careful on the way." Daisy said, "Regardless of whether you find him or not, make sure to return before dark."
"I know."
He exhaled gently, then released her, leaving with Ryan.
Once the men were gone, tranquil silence surrounded the area.
Daisy found a spot two meters away from Emma Magus and sat under a tree, stretching out to rub her stiff calves.
She too spent her days in the office, her physique pretty much same as the average person, walking half a day really wore her out.
"Hey, I’m out of water, do you have any left?"
A voice in an entitled manner broke the silence.
Daisy pretended not to hear and continued rubbing her calves.
"Hey!" A small pebble was tossed over, landing lightly on Daisy’s shoulder, prompting her to look up.
Emma Magus was red-eyed with anger, "I’m going to complain to Edward, you’re targeting me!"
Daisy leaned against the tree, her face expressionless, replied indifferently, "I have a name."
"Obviously you’re married and still entangled with Edward! Are you being fair to your husband?"
"My affairs are none of your concern."
"Daisy, you’re selfish. You won’t take responsibility for Edward, yet you’ll keep him hanging! You know he can’t let go of you, yet you don’t reject him. Are you just enjoying this ambiguous relationship?"
"..." Daisy leaned against the tree, her expression gradually silent.
Actually what Emma Magus said seemed indeed not wrong.
She nodded lightly, "You’re right."
Emma Magus was almost beside herself with anger.
"You’re so cheap!"
Daisy pulled out a box of pills and a bottle of water from her bag.
"I brought painkillers, but I’ve already drank the water, do you want any?"
Emma Magus widened her eyes in disbelief, "Why did you bring painkillers? You’re tricking me, it’s poison isn’t it!"
Daisy rolled her eyes to the sky, putting them back into her bag, "If you don’t want it, then forget it."
Emma Magus hesitated a while, "Hey..."
"Daisy."
Daisy opened her eyes.
"Does those pills really work?"
"I brought them for treating menstrual cramps." Daisy gave her a sideways glance, "If you want them, take them, if not, stop talking nonsense."
Pain finally outweighed her pride, Emma Magus spoke up with a buzzing tone, "Then... can you give them to me."
Daisy tossed both the water and pills over.
Emma Magus took the pills, waited ten minutes or so, then felt much better as the effect kicked in.
No longer in pain, she started bossing Daisy again.
"Daisy, come over here, and help me up! I need to use the bathroom."
This time Daisy was truly impatient, "You can’t do it here?"
"Are you mad?!" Her eyes widened, "What if someone sees?"
In this place, besides her and her, who else was around?
"Daisy, quick, help me up, I can’t hold it anymore!"
Her voice carried a sob, seemingly both ashamed and distressed.
Daisy was annoyed to death, but thinking about Emma Magus peeing beside her seemed quite disgusting too, she reluctantly stood, helping her towards a corner in the woods.
"Alright, I’ll do it here." She found a spot in the weeds and squatted, "You, you walk away."
Daisy gave her a glance, was about to say something when she heard the "splashing" sound of water coming from under Emma Magus.
"..." Daisy silently walked several steps away.
A few minutes later, Emma Magus finally finished, dressed, stood up, and looked towards the direction Daisy had moved, "Daisy, I’m done, help me back..."
Her voice abruptly stopped.
Where was Daisy’s shadow?
