Chapter 396: Dastardly Charming

“Don’t move!” Gao Ming was just flipping through the photo album when Xuan Wen’s voice rang from behind him. She rushed over to snatch the album away from him.

“What’s wrong?” Gao Ming was confused. “The photos look normal. They record this family’s daily lives.”

“Why would you touch the stuff inside a coffin house? This place is an altar meant for ashes and urns. Everything tainted by the owner’s memory is cursed. You haven’t recovered fully. If you’re cursed by the original owner of this place, only death awaits you.” Xuan Wen closed the album and placed it back on the bed.

“Are you concerned about me? I can see that you showed real worry for me at that moment.” Gao Ming experienced despair in so many rooms and heard so much bad news, but he didn’t sink into despair. In fact, he had a big smile on his face.

“I’m worried about the real Gao Ming. You just happen to have his face.” Xuan Wen blocked the bedroom door as if unwilling to let Gao Ming explore it further.

When Gao Ming gave up on searching through the bedroom, Xuan Wen sighed in relief. She looked down to study the photo album in her hands. In the pictures, the parents had a sunny and cute daughter. The album recorded her life from a baby to an adult. Back then, these incidents captured in the lens meant nothing, but looking back, her eyes couldn’t help but tear up. Xuan Wen’s emotions were fraying. At that moment, a siren rang inside the building. Xuan Wen’s expression instantly returned to normal. Fear appeared in her eyes. She put the photo album back and ran to the corridor.

“Stay here! I’ll go take a look!” Xuan Wen told Gao Ming. “Do not touch anything here! The curse will torment you forever!”

Gao Ming nodded silently. Xuan Wen’s departure was definitely related to the siren. Gao Ming hadn’t done anything, so this could only mean that Xuan Wen had triggered something that summoned her away.

Xuan Wen entered a different room. The siren came from the clock. She adjusted the needles with her hands. The decor and layout of the room started to change. When the room turned fully red, Xuan Wen’s heart trembled. She was pierced by an invisible force and collapsed to the ground. She resisted the pain and looked around. She realised everyone related to Gao Ming was standing inside the bloodred room. Among them were his parents, best friends and greatest enemies. They were all roles played by ghosts!

They stared at Xuan Wen. A male voice came out of their mouths, “Gao Ming’s future is not despairing enough. If he still hasn’t reached a mental breakdown in an hour, I require you to murder your own soul right before his eyes.”

“Do you feel better now?” Gao Ming looked into Xuan Wen’s eyes. Their faces were inches away from each other. They could feel each other’s breathing. Xuan Wen turned her face away. After a while, she nodded slowly. She had never felt something like this before.

Everyone inside the surveillance room in Building Five widened their eyes as they looked at the monitors.

Gao Ming hugged the bloody female ghost that was three metres tall. He was as gentle as lapping waves.

The two faces were very close. They kept on getting close until the extremely scary ghost turned her face away. After that, she nodded slightly, promising Gao Ming something.

This whole scenario and development made everyone inside the room speechless.

After a long time, Wang Chenyi frowned. “What did Gao Ming tell the ghost? Why hasn’t he lost his mind even though he has been in the worst future for so long? He doesn’t even show any signs of corruption.”

“I have no clue, but it seems like the ghost has really fallen for him. She doesn’t look like she is acting.” Situ Cheng couldn’t believe the words that came out of his mouth. One of the most unique ghosts at Building Three, the Girlfriend, showed a new attitude towards Gao Ming.

“The few special ghosts are selected by the God of the Future. They are strong and inherit part of the God of the Future’s power. They play specific roles in the worst future, leading humans towards despair. However, this special ghost appears to have lost herself in her role.”
