Chapter 624: Impossible Man
“A whole twelve Unmentionables?”
Each hand that held the real name radiated the presence of the Unmentionable that couldn’t be viewed or smelled. If Gao Ming hadn’t had the protection of the God of Flesh and Blood, he would have lost his mind already.
“No wonder the Dream Priest chose to run after coming after me. He saw the karmic strands that bound me.” The blood mist in the priest’s eyes dissipated. This scene faded like it had never happened. However, Gao Ming and the God of Flesh and Blood saw everything. The giant body bent down. The God of Flesh and Blood’s four faces moved at the same time. This was very rare. Eight eyes stared at Gao Ming as the giant hands touched the Blood City tattoo. He was trying to warn Gao Ming.
“What does he mean? My body is covered in the Blood City tattoo. There are thirteen bloodred cities. There were twelve hands that held my name. Does the God of Flesh and Blood mean to say that I now represent the thirteenth city? Was the thirteenth city once ruined by the cooperation between the other twelve cities?” Gao Ming didn’t think there could be another explanation. He was born with a target on his back. He didn’t think he could offend twelve Unmentionables on his own.
“It looks like I not only inherited the thirteenth city’s power but also its bloody history.”
Gao Ming put away the Dream Priest’s left eye. Immortal Pharma would be warned if he killed the priest so he didn’t squash the man’s consciousness.
“Dream Break Town’s new God, perhaps you can use your power to simulate the Dream Priest to read his memory. You can pick our memories to verify it! We are willing to be your loyal hounds and followers. We are willing to surrender our souls and hearts.” The water ghost pressed his brother’s head and took several steps forward. After they walked past the human bear, they knelt down. They were placed at Dream Break Town for various reasons. The town had been fully changed. Immortal Pharma would shove them into the test chambers, dissect their memories and turn them into living cans. To avoid that, their only path was to worship the God of Flesh and Blood and pray that the New God was not a cruel owner.
The human bear glanced at the water ghost brothers and cursed them for their shamelessness. However, it silently moved forward so that it was closer to Gao Ming than the brothers. If Gao Ming didn’t say anything, they would kneel there forever.
The taboo game players knew the truth from Zhang Mingli. After they reunited, they started to compare their notes on Gao Ming. The more they did that, the more confused they became. Neither party knew how Gao Ming managed everything.
“Gao Ming…” When Ah Chong saw Gao Ming, his gaze coloured with admiration. He could sense the difference in Gao Ming, “Thank you for saving Zhang Mingli and creating a path for us. We’ll never forget the things you’ve done for us!”
All the taboo game players regarded Gao Ming with respect and appreciation.
“It’s a mutually beneficial trade. I got far more than you did.” The fleshy tree and the God of Flesh and Blood sealed up the town. Gao Ming was slowly assimilating the nightmare.
“The Dream Priest is not a good person but his words were not wrong.” Zhang Mingli maintained a safe distance from Gao Ming. “You have inherited Dream’s remains. Be careful that he might be reborn through you.” Zhang Mingli took a deep breath and said seriously, “You mustn’t let your guard down. There are levels among the Unmentionables. Dream is the scariest one I’ve met.”
“You seem to be wary of me a lot.” Gao Ming stepped on the fleshy steps and toyed with the priest’s left eye.
“Dream has left behind many back-ups, and I don’t know anything about you.” Zhang Mingli asked the question in his heart. He looked at Gao Ming before his eyes wandered to the God of Flesh and Blood, “Where did you come from?”
Gao Ming walked up the steps to reach the centre of the divine figurine. He sat down on the ruins of the temple. The red buildings formed a bench under him. This city was his flesh.
“We came from a city that is not on the map. You should have heard about that from Fu Shu and Immortal Pharma already.”
As he said that, endless ghosts crawled out of the torture room to look at Zhang Mingli. The faceless disciples prayed with their heads lowered. The mutated monsters slowly approached. The red raincoat regained her rationality and appeared beside Gao Ming. The flood carried a head to Gao Ming’s other side. Everyone’s shadow formed a giant hound.
“That city is called Han Hai.”
“Han Hai!” Zhang Mingli remembered something as his lips fell open. Disbelief crossed his eyes.
Outside the ruins, Fu Shu on Bai Feng’s back had the same expression. He shook his head in refusal. “Impossible. No living human should exist in that town…”
“Tell me.” Bai Feng flung Fu Shu over her shoulder and pressed him to the ground, “Have you tricked my son and daughter into that town? Why wouldn’t that town be conducive to the living?”
“That city has been turned into a testing arena. It is a dead town. It has been cleansed endless times. No humans can survive there!” Fu Shu didn’t care about the pain. Even if he fell into the bloody mud, he glanced up at Gao Ming defiantly as if he wanted to brand Gao Ming’s appearance into his mind. “I’ve never seen that face before. Impossible. Impossible!”
Bai Feng stopped hesitating since this was related to her children. She picked up Fu Shu and hurried to Gao Ming. The monsters and ghosts frightened her, but her concern for her kids pushed her through.
“He knows more than he is telling.” Bai Feng impolitely dropped Fu Shu on the ground.
“I almost forgot about him. He’s a big reason why I was trapped in Dream Break Town.” Zhang Mingli swept a glance at Fu Shu. He yanked him up rudely, but in reality, he was trying to shield Fu Shu. “Fu Shu has seen the real saviours. He was once a vessel of hope, but he became too extreme.”
“Me? Extreme? What do you understand? Immortal Pharma wanted to perform so many more experiments on you. I was the one who convinced them to move you to Dream Break Town.” Fu Shu knew Gao Ming was in the control. All the spies from Immortal Pharma had been eliminated, so he stopped hiding. “All of you want to blame me, but if you were me, what would you have chosen? I’ve tried my best to help you. Without me, all of the taboo game players would have died!”
Fu Shu looked pitiful without his limps. He was once a powerful man, but he struggled like a worm in Zhang Mingli’s arms.
“I’m trying to save you. Do you want to have your head cut off?” Zhang Mingli whispered.
“I don’t need your help.” Fu Shu stopped struggling. He stared right at Gao Ming’s face as if he were making another confirmation.
“Can you see something in me?” Not that many people dared to look right at Gao Ming. Fu Shu was an exception.
“Even though I didn’t participate in the Han Hai project, I know something about that city.” Fu Shu’s wrinkles folded together. “I can confirm there’s no one alive in that city. No living humans can leave that city. Perhaps you died many years ago but you have forgotten about it. That’s why you believe you’re still alive.”
