Chapter 287 - Ashes III(Third Person POV)

    Viserra was rummaging about in the King''s Chambers, searching for a clue as to where Maegor''s shield would be. She had heard from somewhere that it was stored in the armory of the Red Keep, but after some time, the King himself had removed it and placed it elsewhere.

    She stood in the middle of the room, looking around, "Where could it be?"

    "What are you doing?" Jaehaerys asked as he stood in the doorway, causing her to jump up

    "F-Father!" She exclaimed

    The King slowly walked over as she stood there, looking at him with surprise, "I''ve heard word that you''re scurrying about in the Keep." He said with a serious look on his face, "Care to inform me what this could be about, daughter?"

    "N-Nothing." She said, "I was just....you know, searching for something."

    "For what?" Jaehaerys walked over to a table with wine on it, "If you don''t mind me asking....."

    "W-Well...." Viserra said, "Well, the thing is....I have been doing a lot of reading...."

    "I know. Your Mother keeps telling me..." Jaehaerys poured some wine in a cup, "What were you reading about?"

    "Targaryen Kings." Viserra said, "You are the Fourth King in the history of our Dynasty."

    "I know." Jaehaerys said as he looked at her, "What of it?"

    "Your.... predecessor...." Viserra said, "Maegor.....what was he like?"

    Jaehaerys took a sip from his cup, "What did you read about him?"

    "T-The usual...." She said softly, "That he was....a terrible person....."

    "The descriptions of Maegor Targaryen did not lie." Jaehaerys said seriously, "He was known as The Cruel for a reason. He was not a good man...."

    "Right...." Viserra said, "A Monster...."

    "That is right." Jaehaerys said, "One who usurped my brother''s throne....and killed him above the God''s Eye....and tortured our other brother to death. Maegor Targaryen may have been my Uncle by blood, but that man was not my Family. Family does not do what he did.....He was a Monster."

    "A Monster..." Viserra said, "Like....Drakken...."

    "Drakken....and Maegor...." Jaehaerys sighed, "You are right. You could say that the two are similar, in a way. But the difference between them is that Drakken had power that far surpassed Maegor. And when it comes to cruelty....I believe that Maegor has Drakken beat....at the very least, Drakken is a reasonable individual....or so I''d like to believe."

    "Right..." Viserra said

    "Why do you ask about Maegor?" Jaehaerys asked her

    "Well, the thing is.....I noticed that in his descriptions, he wielded both Dark Sister and a shield..." She said, "I know Dark Sister is in Baelon''s possession....but his shield.....I believe it said that it was stored in the Keep. And I swore that as a child, I could have seen it somewhere...."

    "It is not here." Jaehaerys said, "Why do you want it?"

    "N-No reason...." Viserra said, "I just wanted to see it...."

    "Hm." Jaehaerys walked over to her, "What are you planning, daughter?"

    Viserra shook her head, "N-Nothing, Father."

    "Your sister was spotted flying to Dragonstone." Jaehaerys said, "And.....well, I''ve heard some rumors about you."

    "Rumors?" Viserra asked

    Jaehaerys took another sip from his cup, "As your Father, I advise you to be careful." He said seriously, "The last thing I want is for one of my daughters to be hurt. And you....you are young...."

    Viserra nodded, "Right...."

    "The Shield...." Jaehaerys said, "Is in the Tower of The Hand. For whatever reason, Aemon wanted it as well. If you want it, steal it from him."

    Viserra blinked, "You..." She said, "You don''t mind?"

    Jaehaerys turned around, "It''s just a damned shield." He said and walked back to the table, "One that belonged to Maegor Targaryen, someone I was definitely not fond of. Aemon wants it as a reminder of the cruelty that our House suffered.....to tell him that we can endure Drakken. But.....I really don''t care what happens to it. Not anymore."

    "Alright...." Viserra said, "Thank you, Father."

    [The Following Day]

    "Good...." Ezra said as Viserra placed the shield in front of him, "Well done, Viserra....."

    Viserra stepped back, "Thank you." She said softly, "I do things for the Trinity, after all...."

    Ezra then looked at Alyssa who had a bag in her hand, "And you...." He said, "Have you done it?"

    Alyssa set the bag down, "Yes." She said, "It''s there."

    Ezra crouched down, opened the bag, and saw that there was a large dragon tooth and a piece of dragon skull in it.

    He could not help but smile, "Ah..." He said, "This is wonderful.....Lord Drakken would be pleased....He will reward you personally when he comes for the Ritual."

    "Ritual?" Alyssa asked, "What....what ritual?"

    "The dragon bone and tooth will be used for something else." Ezra stood up, holding the bag in his hand, "But the Ashes.....and the Shield....that will be used soon. I expect the two of you to be present. It will be held in the Street of Silk....."

    "What?" Viserra asked, "What are you going to do there?"

    Ezra placed the bag atop the table, "Well.....Blood Sorcery is used for rituals." He said, "As a Priest of the Trinity, I''ve learned a few of them. I will shed the blood of the impure....and use it to filter the ashes of the Cruel....."

    "What...?" Alyssa asked

    "Mixing it with the Dragon''s Blood....to create a resonance..." Ezra pulled out a paper from his pocket, "I believe that is you two.....from what Our Lord''s instructions state...."

    "Wait...." Alyssa took a step forward, "Y-You''re not doing what I think you''re...."

    "The Shield was a personal attachment of The Cruel...." Ezra said, "So it will be medium to retrieve his Soul from wherever it ended up in....and once the body is restored....Our Lord will appear and he will do what he intends to do...."

    Viserra''s face hardened, "So....it is true...." She said softly, "Resurrection...."

    Alyssa looked at her, "N-No..." She said, "Why does he want to do that?! Why would he bring him of all people back?!"
