Chapter 1943: Chapter 1937: Junction

The notion that enemies and allies share the same origins is quite a subtle design, but sometimes reality is just that straightforward—the cycle of avenger and victim creates an entanglement of cause and effect.

After a brief evaluation, a most likely version of the story was reconstructed.

From the records of the Tomb Guardian, the ancient giants were just one link in many epochs. After losing their era… if they hadn’t been completely eradicated, they would naturally choose to leave.

And the descendants of those ancient giants, or perhaps even the giants themselves, if they recorded this history, would naturally never forget it.

Whether for revenge or for a mere nostalgia for this land, if conditions allow, they would try to return.

As for whether those invaders from the Foreign Domain were brought in by them… Lu Ping’an feels it’s hard to say, considering the vast Multi-universe. This world has always been hidden so well, but now it’s suddenly besieged by myriad Gods Above Gods, with one even holding a deep grudge against it. It’s somewhat problematic.

“This is really an encounter with ghosts… Intelligent creatures can actually take revenge on the world one day or even destroy it.”

What lies before Lu Ping’an now, however, is this piece of information, which seemingly doesn’t hold much practical value.

No one knew the descendants of the giants would transform into such “brainless” beings when they were once recorded as ordinary intelligent creatures.

On the other hand, in the records, these giants were all Masters of Martial Arts, possessing not only incredible destructive power but also the ability to summon Elemental Power with their fists and feet…

“The records are consistent; they eat people…”

Chris’s reminder made Lu Ping’an pause.

This trait of “Soul Devouring” used for self-growth could be the root of why the giants were so enormous, but looking at it another way, it might also be the reason their ancestors were driven out.

“Tsk, in that sense, it’s not unjust. How many Wisdom Life forms does it take for a giant to grow?”

Whether the legendary giant martial arts can be found remains unknown. The murals and such have all been utterly destroyed, and the unintelligent and uncommunicative “Stone Monster” offers no useful intelligence.

Lu, knowing that high-level Extraordinary Martial Skills from the Otherworld were powerful, was actually looking forward to it.

Just like his own Wave-Cutting Axe Skill, martial skills involving the foundation and rules of various worlds are copyable power-ups, significantly enhancing Legion combat power.

Especially in understanding rules, which is very enticing for the generally struggling Battle-professionals. Many in the team are focused on this area.

“Clues seem to be cut off…”

Worse than not finding clues is finding the target only to discover it’s completely unrecognizable.

The descendants of the giants have turned into purely thoughtless killing Stone Monsters, with their malice glaringly obvious.

Time is limited for Lu Ping’an in this place. He couldn’t possibly dig thoroughly, only hoping that within the area taken away, enough secrets could still be hidden… Lu Ping’an himself estimated this possibility to be low, given that the ruins of Cloud City were not only severely damaged but bore too many exploration marks—as it is, anything left would have been taken by visitors from several past generations.

But while his “archaeology team” produced no results, those tracking down the Tomb Guardian’s information from the research faction did come up with some findings.

“Giants actually have many subspecies—Cloud Giants residing in the Cloud Realm are just one. It’s said they excel at summoning storms and thunder… other subspecies also have their own fortes and can mostly utilize martial arts to drive Elemental Power.”

This is undoubtedly good news, especially when locations of other “ancient ruins” are being deciphered.

And Lu Ping’an finds it somewhat subtle in that aspect… he even feels the courtyard is getting too full, and before he makes further progress, the expansion of the courtyard may have to halt.

Even without this constraint, time probably only allows him to visit one or two more places.

“The capital city of Fire Giants in the volcanic region, huh, there’s even an Iron Giant… An arsenal? Then there must be a lot of treasures. Cloud Giants as artists… forget it, with Cloud City having fallen, not much should have been preserved until now.”

If possible, Lu Ping’an naturally hopes to find the ruins of “ancient beasts” and “ancient dragons,” but according to the data, these epochs often involved powerful individuals living primarily in solitude.

Communal living leaves more traces, requiring at least a city area to support tribal development. Finding specific ruins of ancient beasts and dragons seems unlikely.

Better to locate the habitats of intelligent creatures; at least there might be some heritage… In this regard, “giants” are clearly the most enticing.

At the moment, the local area (地块) has already disintegrated, with not much time left for hesitation.

But the targets still available to Lu Ping’an for selection number at least four… if taken the wrong path this time, there might not be another chance to search.

“Why don’t we ask someone?”

“Ask who? Ancient records won’t mention this part.”

“Not from a book… how about asking the people involved?”

“Those involved… oh, that’s a good idea!”

With the support of related information, some seemingly unrelated past events directly turned into a causal chain.

Since we don’t know where in this world holds value… wouldn’t the invaders from the Foreign Domain know? Those “giant descendants” with links to ancient history in this world should have clear target priorities, right?

“Having completed intelligence exchange with other forces… Among the recorded eleven giant ruins, and within the three capitals of the Fire Giants, in one of them, the number of Stone Men is astoundingly high—more than ten times that of other places, and reportedly, the conflicts continue.”

It sounds like that place holds a special status?!

Lu Ping’an contemplated the area marked as A117.

There, it seems to feature a complex terrain, but at least half the region is densely covered with deep mountains, even volcanoes.

Given Lu Ping’an’s own qualities and the Burning Legion, this seems to be quite a fine choice.

“Complete reorganization within two days… Let’s set off. This should be our last trip in this world.”

Too many “areas” have been eroded and disintegrated; time no longer favors Earthlings.

But this time, Lu Ping’an is quite interested.

And just after arriving in the area, it was not the giants that reacted first.

“All the ‘lamps’ reacted simultaneously… There’s a Great Graveyard here; from the reactions, it should be the world’s largest scale.”

Seems there’s no more room for doubt; this flame-filled volcanic region is indeed quite special.

More special places, however, appear to still lie ahead.

“That Dragon Egg fossil suddenly reacted… showing signs of resuscitation!”
