How to Tame a God and the Lucky Beasts
Chapter 19: The Farce Comes to an End
CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: THE FARCE COMES TO AN END
Li Li was stunned by Ruan Xingwen’s words, and now she’s feeling very anxious. She doesn’t know how Ruan Xingwen found out about her and Shi Mu, but she has no choice but to pretend she knows nothing.
"Xingwen, I know you’re feeling really upset right now, but you can’t just say whatever you want. We’re talking about the fact that you hit someone!"
After Li Li said that, she paused. Shi Mu, beside her, tugged on her arm, signaling her to stop talking.
Indeed, Ruan Xingwen did hit someone. What was his discomfort about? They knew the truth, but the others present were unaware.
Now that she mentioned it, the others weren’t foolish; they naturally understood that Ruan Xingwen had a reason for hitting someone, though the specific reason was intriguing.
"Ruan Xingwen, just you wait! You dared to hit me? I’ll make sure you never become famous in your life!"
Producer Zhang got up from the ground, beaten black and blue, but his tone remained menacing.
"If you agree with me, I guarantee you’ll live a life of luxury. I’m giving you a chance!"
Did this dirty old man hit his head or something?! Everyone present seemed to think in unison.
Now, everything was clear. Producer Zhang thought the person was a little lamb who couldn’t fight back and tried to take advantage but ended up provoking a little leopard.
Li Li and the others seemed to have forgotten one thing—rabbits bite when cornered.
"Let’s call the police and let them handle it."
Ruan Xingwen spoke softly, looking at the manager behind him. Then he froze upon seeing the man beside the manager.
Even though the man seemed casual, leaning against the door with an air of dignified aloofness, it didn’t change the fact that he was watching the drama unfold with amusement in his eyes!
Ugh, hypocrite.
Complaining inwardly, he had no choice but to greet him with a seemingly innocent smile.
"Mr. Yu, sorry about this mess."
The man he referred to as Mr. Yu was none other than the famous movie star—Yu Xiaozhe.
Yu Xiaozhe nodded at him and spoke, addressing Li Li, his voice low and husky yet devoid of warmth.
"Is this why you rejected my invitation on his behalf?"
Shi Mu got anxious and hurriedly jumped in.
"Mr. Yu, please don’t be angry. Sister Li had no choice. You don’t know, Ruan Xingwen he..."
Yu Xiaozhe raised his hand to cut off Shi Mu’s explanation, turning to Ruan Xingwen to inquire.
"And what’s your reason?"
Though he already had some understanding, it was essentially the agent blocking the little leopard’s opportunity. But surprisingly, the little leopard didn’t seem resentful. That’s quite interesting.
Ruan Xingwen looked up at him, eyes flashing with confusion, as if asking, "What are you talking about?"
"We arranged with your agent to come here and discuss an endorsement deal today," said the young man from the adjacent booth.
"Your agent told us before you arrived that you rejected us and recommended another candidate. I was surprised to see you in that booth afterward. Before I could ask further, you answered a call and ran off."
Ruan Xingwen understood, pieced things together with Shi Mu’s words, and roughly figured out the reason for today’s incident.
Essentially, Li Li feared her bad luck might affect collaboration with Yu Xiaozhe, so she handed the endorsement to Shi Mu. As for Producer Zhang, she was unwilling to give up and wanted to try again.
If Ruan Xingwen compromised, she would benefit, but if he didn’t cooperate, it was his problem, not hers.
But she never expected Ruan Xingwen would erupt and hit someone.
And on another note, Shi Mu, who thought the endorsement was secure, now seemed empty-handed.
Producer Zhang, bruised and swollen, attempted to speak again, but as soon as Ruan Xingwen slightly lifted his leg, Producer Zhang instantly backed away, desperately trying to minimize his presence.
Ruan Xingwen finally spoke to dismiss them, "Sister Li, I’ll be going to the company tomorrow. Please prepare the termination contract, and you should leave now."
Li Li was speechless; it was irrevocable, so she let it go.
"Xingwen, sorry." She said, turning to leave.
Shi Mu was still unwilling, sarcastically mocking.
"Ruan Xingwen, do you have the courage to accept this endorsement? With your bad luck, aren’t you afraid of ruining it?"
Just as Ruan Xingwen intended to retort, "It’s none of your business!" Yu Xiaozhe spoke on his behalf.
"That’s our matter to discuss, not yours; it’s no longer relevant to you."
The young man beside him looked at Shi Mu with disdain, warning him with a methodical threat.
"For Xingxing’s sake, we won’t sue you for breaching the contract, but if you continue any antics, don’t blame us for being merciless!"
At this point, Li Li and Shi Mu had no face left to stay, so they grabbed their bags and coats and left quickly.
Ruan Xingwen looked at Producer Zhang in the corner, who was still trying to keep a low profile, and somehow found the energy to joke.
"Producer Zhang, do you still want to try biting this tough bone of mine? You can give it another shot."
Saying that, he shook his foot as though shaking off the dust on his shoes.
"No, no, no, I made a mistake, I didn’t recognize greatness."
Seeing the two men behind Ruan Xingwen, Producer Zhang dared not be brazen anymore.
Unlike Li Li and Shi Mu, who were foolish enough to swap endorsers without understanding the situation.
Besides being a star, Yu Xiaozhe was the mastermind behind YX International, and the young man beside him was the CEO of the popular gaming company Godslayer—Yu Yue.
Producer Zhang might not fear Ruan Xingwen, but the two men behind him were not to be offended, so he could only swallow his pride and leave.
Watching Producer Zhang leave quickly, as if a ghost was chasing him, Ruan Xingwen couldn’t help but laugh.
Watching him laugh heartily, Yu Xiaozhe’s lips curled into a content smile, whereas Yu Yue, witnessing this, widened his eyes as if seeing a ghost! The smile instantly disappeared from Yu Xiaozhe’s face.
The manager stepped forward again, looking at the two owners and Mr. Yu, understanding how he should handle things now. He bowed apologetically and spoke.
"Mr. Ruan, I’m terribly sorry that you had to experience this at our restaurant. We will offer you appropriate compensation, which I hope you will accept to ease our conscience."
Seeing his sincere demeanor, as if refusing would torment the manager forever, Ruan Xingwen could only choose to accept.
The manager suggested again, "Mr. Ruan, let me escort you to another booth."
"No need, I damaged the table and cutlery in this booth. Please evaluate the cost and I’ll pay for it."
The manager was flustered, shaking his head repeatedly.
"Rest assured, you don’t need to compensate for these. We will contact the three who just left. After all, you were just defending yourself, and they are the real culprits behind the damage."
Seeing him so frightened, Ruan Xingwen didn’t insist. Instead, he thanked the two men standing there, as he wasn’t foolish and knew the manager was being accommodating due to those two.
Yu Yue waved, addressing the manager.
"No need for other arrangements. He’s coming with us to Shuo Ri. Get someone to clean up here while we head there, and I’ll call if needed," he said, dismissing the manager.
Ruan Xingwen followed Yu Xiaozhe and Yu Yue to Shuo Ri, the booth he had mistakenly entered earlier.
