How to Tame a God and the Lucky Beasts
Chapter 98 - 99: The Uncle Driver
CHAPTER 98: CHAPTER 99: THE UNCLE DRIVER
"Okay! Sister Xiao Yuan! You guys go quickly, sign early, and come back to pick me up soon!"
An Qi, who had been reluctant to part just now, was now pushing the three of them toward the hotel entrance.
This action earned her another forehead flick from Andy.
"Ouch, stop flicking! It’ll make me stupid!" An Qi cried out in pain.
Andy laughed and said, "Don’t worry, An Qi is silly as it is."
"Hurry up! Go!"
Thanks to Andy’s words, Ruan Xingwen and the others were successfully ushered out by An Qi.
Andy touched his nose and changed the subject, "Let’s go, let’s get a taxi."
Ruan Xingwen shook his head helplessly and said to Wang Xiaoyuan, "Let’s go."
After speaking, he turned towards the roadside, with Wang Xiaoyuan following.
It was just the right time to miss the rush hour, but there were still many vehicles on the road, and lots of taxis.
The three of them had just reached the roadside when they flagged down a taxi.
After getting in the car, the vehicle started, and the driver enthusiastically asked, "Where are you headed?"
"Zerui Real Estate, please," Ruan Xingwen replied, as he was the only one who knew where they were going.
The driver was a man in his forties and, seeing how handsome the guys were and how pretty the girl was, he assumed they were stars from some entertainment company.
When he heard Ruan Xingwen mention Zerui Real Estate, he became curious, "Do you work there?"
"Not really, we’re just going to take care of something."
"Oh haha, alright then. It’s a bit far, and there’s slight traffic, don’t worry too much!" the driver explained.
Ruan Xingwen smiled and nodded, "No rush."
The driver was dazzled by his smile, and his initial suspicion returned, "Young man, are you a celebrity?"
Hmm? Have I met a fan? Do I actually have a fan?
"Cough cough," Andy choked on his own saliva upon hearing the driver’s words.
Ruan Xingwen glanced at Andy through the rearview mirror and discreetly straightened his slightly wrinkled jacket,
"Why do you say that? Are you..." The words ’my fan’ were not yet out of his mouth when the driver spoke,
"Hey, young man, you’re so handsome, aren’t you aware of it? My daughter is one of those star-chasers, always going on about her favorite celeb! I think the male star she likes is not as handsome as you!"
Ruan Xingwen didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
He really was a celebrity now. But he didn’t have any fans. He had thought the uncle was his rare fan; it was so awkward, fortunately, he didn’t finish his sentence, or he’d want to find a hole to crawl into!
"Pfft hahaha, haha, oh my stomach," Andy couldn’t hold it in anymore and was laughing so hard his stomach hurt.
"Hey, young man, what’s wrong?" the driver was puzzled.
Sitting in the front passenger seat, Ruan Xingwen glared at him, knowing Andy was mocking him!
Andy waved it off, replying, "It’s nothing, uncle, I just suddenly thought of something funny!"
The driver, still driving, asked, "What’s so funny?"
"Well, someone was taking a taxi and thought they met a fan..."
Seeing that Andy was about to spill the beans, Ruan Xingwen quickly changed the topic, "Uncle, you said your daughter chases stars? Who does she like?"
Bringing up his daughter, the driver’s attention was immediately redirected, "Let me think, what’s the name again? I think it’s Xu? Or Xu?"
Ruan Xingwen was confused, even if the uncle said the full name, he might not recognize it, especially since he hadn’t been doing anything in the entertainment industry for three years.
Ruan Xingwen didn’t know, but someone did.
Little Yuan, who had been quietly listening in the back seat, spoke up, "Xu Yang?"
The driver immediately nodded, "Yes, yes, that’s him! Girl, you chase stars too?" Otherwise, how could she guess at once!
Little Yuan shook her head, "I just happen to know him." And this person happened to have a little history with Ruan Xingwen.
"Xu Yang?" Ruan Xingwen found the name somewhat familiar.
"Director Wang’s audition..."
Ruan Xingwen even forgot the guy who had taken his resources. How worrying would it be if he didn’t have someone beside him!
Ruan Xingwen suddenly realized, "Oh, it’s him."
There had been too many resources taken from him over the years; he couldn’t remember them all.
Listening to their conversation, the driver seemed to catch on, "Young man, you’re really a star, huh?"
"Not really, I don’t have any works yet," Ruan Xingwen felt a bit embarrassed, as he had been in the industry for three years without producing anything.
But the driver misunderstood, thinking Ruan Xingwen was being modest. With Ruan Xingwen’s looks, he should definitely become popular.
If he wasn’t driving, the driver would have certainly given Ruan Xingwen a reassuring slap on the shoulder.
For now, the driver only comforted him verbally, "I believe in you, young man. You’re going to be famous!"
Andy in the backseat winked at Ruan Xingwen, "Uncle, why not ask Ah Wen to sign an autograph for you? In case he gets famous, you’ll have a keepsake, or you could sell it for a lot of money."
His comment amused the driver, "Hahaha, you’re quite business-savvy, young man!"
Andy received another eye-roll from Ruan Xingwen.
"Uncle, don’t listen to him talk nonsense."
"Why not give me a signature for real? Haha," even the driver started to joke.
Fortunately, Ruan Xingwen spotted the Zerui Real Estate sign nearby.
"Uncle, we’re almost there, right? Just ahead?"
"Yes, yes, we’re almost there."
The driver slowed down, asking, "Will you be on time?"
Ruan Xingwen nodded, "Yes, the timing is just right! Thank you, uncle."
After the car stopped, he glanced at the meter, forty-five yuan.
He was just reaching for cash when the driver said, "No need to pay, just remember to give uncle a signed photo when you’re famous! Then I can brag to my daughter!"
Seeing the driver hadn’t forgotten about the autograph, Ruan Xingwen didn’t know what to say. Watching Andy and Little Yuan get out, he followed them.
He promised, "Sure, I’ll definitely remember. Thank you, uncle!"
After getting out, he swiftly placed the cash on the seat through the window and dashed towards Zerui Real Estate’s entrance.
The driver poked his head out the window and yelled, "Hey, you young man, uncle doesn’t need you to save on this fare!"
Ruan Xingwen turned back with a cheeky smile and waved, "Goodbye, uncle!"
The driver waved helplessly and retracted his head, muttering to himself, "A good kid, he’ll definitely make it big."
Unaware of the driver’s blessing, they walked into Zerui Real Estate’s entrance, greeted by the spacious first-floor lobby, shiny floors, and the pretty receptionist.
The receptionist saw them too, stood up, and approached with a perfectly timed smile, "Hello, how may I assist you?"
