HSR: Villain Simulator - I Wiped Out the Astral Express Crew
Chapter 214: The General's Gambit
Inside the Divination Commission, the air was thick with the scent of old scrolls and the low, oppressive hum of the Matrix of Prescience operating at full capacity. Fu Xuan was handling a mountain of official documents, her usual pristine appearance marred by a visible layer of fatigue. You stood beside her, masquerading as her loyal subordinate Jiang Xuan, skillfully organizing the endless stream of data files.
Just then, the jade abacus on her desk, her private communication line, rang with a sharp, insistent chime.
"It's Jing Yuan," she said, her voice tight, before answering.
Normally, Fu Xuan would ask you to leave during such confidential communications, ensuring no one, not even her most trusted aide, overheard a discussion between generals. But now, after months of your careful infiltration and the intimate, late-night "divination lessons," she merely glanced at you and continued. After these days of interaction, she had come to completely, foolishly trust you.
"What?" Fu Xuan's voice was sharp, all fatigue vanishing, replaced by pure shock. "The Xianzhou Alliance is sending an investigation team? On what grounds?"
Jing Yuan's tired, static-laced voice came through the receiver, "Feixiao reported me. She has submitted evidence alleging I colluded with the Alchemy Commission and the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus."
"This... how is that possible?" Fu Xuan frowned, her mind clearly racing. After a few more tense, clipped sentences, she ended the call. Her expression was grave. "Reporting Jing Yuan? Accusing him of treason? What exactly is General Feixiao's intention... This is madness."
You watched from the side, your face a perfect mask of subordinate concern, while inwardly, a faint, cold smile touched your lips. Everything is going according to plan.
"Master Diviner..." you began, your voice hesitant, as if afraid to speak out of turn. "Forgive my bluntness, but... shouldn't you be... pleased? This is a political storm."
"Pleased?" She scoffed, turning her sharp, orange-pink eyes on you.
"If General Jing Yuan is dismissed..." you let the words hang in the air, heavy with implication. "With the General's position vacant... who else on the Luofu would be more qualified to fill it than you, Master Diviner? The one who has truly been protecting this ship."
Fu Xuan paused, a dangerous glint flashing in her eyes. She stopped halfway through a retort and shook her head, though her ambition was now plain to see. "No, no... Now is a turbulent time for the Luofu. Jing Yuan still has his uses."
At this point, her lips curved upward into a small, sharp smile. "Of course, if he is truly found to be a traitor... the Luofu will need a strong, decisive leader. And the next new General will definitely be me."
"You have great vision, Master Diviner," you flattered smoothly. "The Luofu is fortunate to have such a clear-sighted leader."
"It's just..." she sighed, the ambition fading, replaced by that bone-deep weariness. "This timing... my head is splitting."
"Jiang Xuan," her voice suddenly softened, her gaze becoming dependent. "My... my massage. It helps me think clearly."
"Of course," you replied, your voice gentle.
She sat in her chair, and you moved behind her, your hands skillfully finding the pressure points on her temples. She let out a soft, unconscious sigh as your fingers began their work, her entire body relaxing under your touch. Her guard was completely down, her mind open and vulnerable to your influence.
"Thank you, Jiang Xuan... You're the only one who... understands..." she murmured, her eyes fluttering closed.
After a long, silent moment, she whispered, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Tonight... come to my room again. The official duties are too much here... I need you to... help me relieve this fatigue."
A few days later, the Alliance's investigation team arrived. The atmosphere in the Seat of Divine Foresight was so thick with tension it was almost hard to breathe. The leaders were General Huaiyan of the Zhuming, a stern, older man whose face looked like it was carved from granite, and General Feixiao of the Yaoqing. She stood with a cold, impartial expression, her silver-teal hair tied back, her green eyes unreadable.
Inside the grand hall, Jing Yuan sat composed, sipping his tea as if awaiting casual guests. "Please, investigate as you wish," he said, his voice calm. "I act with integrity and can withstand any investigation. I have nothing to hide."
The meticulous search began. Cloud Knights, under Huaiyan's and Feixiao's supervision, began to scour the General's public and private chambers.
"General Huaiyan," Feixiao finally spoke, her voice clear and professional. "To ensure a thorough investigation, we must also inspect the General's private study and his hidden archives. It is a necessary, if unpleasant, part of our duty."
Jing Yuan merely nodded, gesturing for them to proceed.
The search of the study was long and fruitless, until one of Feixiao's own trusted Cloud Knights, whom you had contacted days before, suddenly "noticed" an anomaly behind a heavy bookshelf.
"General!" the Cloud Knight shouted, his voice filled with practiced shock. "There's a secret room here! And... and we found these!"
He held up a bundle of sealed, secret letters.
Huaiyan took them, his expression thunderous. He broke the seal on the first one, and his face turned ashen as he read. His hands trembled with rage. He angrily shoved the letters in front of Jing Yuan.
Jing Yuan's calm expression finally broke as he read the contents. His face, usually relaxed, turned to stone. The letters detailed a secret, treasonous plot with Dan Shu and the Lord Ravager Phantylia, promising him a path to avoid the Mara-Struck state in exchange for his full cooperation in the Ambrosial Arbor's revival.
Even more damning, the bottom of each letter bore his personal, secret seal—the one known only to the Arbiter-Generals.
"This is impossible!" Jing Yuan's voice was sharp, his form rigid as he suddenly stood up. "I have never seen these things! They are forgeries!"
"Forged?" Huaiyan scoffed, his voice a low roar. "The secret seal is genuine, confirmed by General Feixiao and myself! They were found in your hidden room! How do you explain that, Jing Yuan?!"
Jing Yuan opened his mouth but was speechless. The evidence was absolute, irrefutable. He had been perfectly, flawlessly framed. His mind raced. The seal is real, but the letters are false. Someone with access to my personal effects... and the authority to create such a... His gaze swept across the room. Huaiyan was too rigid, too honorable for such a plot. Feixiao... she refused to meet his gaze, her face a mask of cold, professional "regret." And Fu Xuan, the one who controlled the Matrix of Prescience... was conspicuously absent.
"Guards!" Huaiyan's voice was heavy with the weight of judgment. "Take General Jing Yuan to the Shackling Prison. He is stripped of all rank and authority, pending further investigation by the Alliance!"
As he was taken away, flanked by guards, Jing Yuan's mind raced. How could this happen? The only ones who have been in my study recently were... Yukong... and Fu Xuan... He was utterly at a loss.
Back in Fu Xuan's office, a Cloud Knight rushed in, bowing deeply. "Master Diviner! Report! General Jing Yuan... he's been locked up! They... they said they found irrefutable evidence of his secret communications with the Disciples!"
"What?!" Fu Xuan (Phantylia) slammed her hand on the desk, her face a perfect picture of shock and betrayal. "The General... arrested? How... how could he..."
She paced the room, her small fists clenched, her "anxiety" palpable. "I understand. This is... a dark day for the Luofu." She turned to the knight, her voice trembling slightly. "I... I must see what I can do to save him… but if the evidence is truly irrefutable... I fear even I am powerless."
"Understood, Master Diviner." The Cloud Knight bowed again, his heart filled with respect for her loyalty, and reluctantly left.
The door hissed shut.
Phantylia maintained her worried, distraught expression for a long, silent moment.
"Stop acting; they've already gone," you said, stepping out from behind a data screen, your voice laced with amusement.
Hearing your words, her expression instantly, magically changed. The severe solemnity and worried frown vanished, replaced by a captivating, almost giddy smile.
"Oh, what's the rush, Jiang Xuan?" she chuckled, her voice shifting back to its true, melodic, layered tone. "What if the walls have ears? A good performance requires a proper curtain call, doesn't it?"
"They won't. My informants have already confirmed the area is clear," you said, walking over to her.
"Heh heh... You're always so thoughtful," Phantylia chuckled. She stretched, a long, languid, cat-like movement that was entirely out of place for Fu Xuan's petite body. "How was my acting just now? Was I like her? 'Jing Yuan still has his uses...'" she mocked, perfectly imitating the real Fu Xuan's stern, sharp voice.
You scrutinized her. "Far from it. The real Fu Xuan wouldn't have been so openly panicked. She would have been calculating, her mind already on the political vacuum, not on saving him."
"Really?" Phantylia pouted, her borrowed face looking strangely cute. "It seems my observation isn't detailed enough... After all, how could I possibly know the real Master Diviner as well as her... bedmate?" She trailed a finger lightly down your chest, her eyes glinting with playful malice.
"It's alright," you said indifferently, taking a small step back from her touch. "Her personality is simple enough to mimic for the puppets. The difficult part was getting you inside her."
"Indeed..." Phantylia purred, her gaze appreciative. "If it weren't for that night, when you made her drop her every last mental guard... when she was so completely... open... I wouldn't have been able to possess her so smoothly." She walked closer again, a predator enjoying her partner. "You're very capable, Jiang Xuan... I truly like your type."
She stood on her tiptoes, trying to caress your cheek, but due to Fu Xuan's short height, she had to strain and could only just brush your chin.
"Tsk... I really don't know how this person lives normally. So short, it's terribly inconvenient."
You took another step back. "Enough with the jokes. The General is down. The Divination Commission is ours. It's time to contact Feixiao and proceed to the next step. The Luofu is in peril... just as we planned."
