Chapter 49: Obsessed
CHAPTER 49: OBSESSED
Chapter 48
Mila paced nervously in the room as she waited for the princess to return. "Your highness you need to come quick. Your mother would behead me if she found out I let you sneak out again."
Her hands trembled slightly as she looked out the window every minute, trying to see if the princess was coming, but her face always fell in disappointed each time she looked because she was no where in sight.
Just then, a knock made her jolt in shock, and her heart began racing. Her mind reeled, wondering who was behind the door. Was it the queen? Had she finally realized the princess wasn’t in the palace?
The knock persisted, and Mila had no choice but to answer the door. With a nervous breath, she opened...but to her surprise, it was Yuval standing there.
Yuval was the son of a noble, and a potential suitor of the princess, although the Princess never liked him and never payed any attention to him.
"Where’s Isabella?" Yuval asked, smiling brightly.
"The princess is asleep." Mila answered flatly and quickly tried to close the door, but Yuval placed his hand, stopping her.
"I know she isn’t, tell her I’m here."
Mila frowned, clearly feeling discomfort from his presence. "Please come back later sir, the princess is taking a nap."
"You this stubborn maid, can you at least tell me what’s she’s really doing? I know she’s inside but refuses to see me. Bella, I know you’re in there, come out let’s talk." Yuval called out, trying hard to peak into the room. But Mila quickly used her body to block him.
"You’re clearly the stubborn one, can’t you take a hint? The princess doesn’t want you, go find someone else who’s interested."
Yuval smiled, then reached for Mila’s nose and pinched playfully, "Are you interested? Stubborn little brat."
Mila slapped his hand away, frowning... clearly irritated, "I’m not into nobles thank you. And don’t touch me."
"Ouch, I’ve been rejected by both the princess and her maid. Am I that unpleasant?" Yuval asked, placing his hand on his chest playfully like he’d been shot.
Mila was quiet for a moment, her frown disappearing, "it’s not that....it’s just, you’re too pushy." She replied with an honest calm voice. "Besides that, you’re pretty okay."
"Just okay? I’m charismatic, I’m handsome, I’m strong, I’m...."
"Yeah yeah I know, now can you leave." Mila cut in, her frown coming back. She almost warmed up to him for a moment when she forgot what he was actually like.
Yuval sighed, his bubbly smile falling into a disappointment look, "Alright I’ll stop being pushy and leave, tell her I’ll come back, I’ll keep coming back till she finally gives up and accepts me."
With that, he turned and left. Mila sighed in relief, "finally." Relived that he’d left and also relieved that it wasn’t the queen looking for her.
She rushed back inside, and right at that moment, she sighted the princess jumping in from the window.
Mila rushed to her, "Your highness you scared me. Why did you take so long today?" She asked with a low urgent tone. She kept her voice low, making sure no one heard her voice.
"I couldn’t see him today, I think he’s avoiding me." Bella replied, reaching for her hair and pulling the tread that held it up, letting it fall down her shoulders.
"Ahh my poor princess, chasing someone while another is also chasing her." Mila sighed dramatically, her mouth curving in fake sadness.
Bella chuckled, "Yuval came again right?"
"Yes."
"Goodness he’s really got a lot of free time."
"So do you princess, do you have any idea what would happen if your mom finds out you’re sneaking out disguised as a boy? And posing as a freaking hunter?"
"And do you have any idea how it feels to suddenly become obsessed with some random boy?" Bella shot back, and almost immediately, they both bursted into a friendly laughter.
"I knew you were obsessed, you finally admitted it." Mila said, and Bella sighed, falling to her bed heavily as she lay on her back, looking up.
"He...he is beautiful, his white hair, his grey eyes, and damn, his scent. I don’t know how to describe it but, I just want him. I badly want him Mila. What I feel towards him is not healthy and I know that, but I won’t fight it, I love what I feel."
Mila let out a soft breath, kneeling down beside the princess bed as she leaned closer, "what’s his name? You never told me."
"It’s Kaizen. And turns out he was born without magic. Amazing right?" Bella said, her eyes lighting up in excitement as she sat up.
Mila raised a brow, "Nothing is amazing about that princess, damn you’re clearly blinded, is he noble?"
"I don’t know, but he doesn’t seem like one."
"How old is he?"
"Eighteen."
"Isabella!" Mila called her full name, her tone scolding. "You’re into a younger guy? Seriously princess? No magic, not noble, and still younger? Goodness your highness, now I regret not shipping you with Yuval."
"Eww no, don’t compare him with that chicken."
"At least the one you call chicken is a lot better than the nobody you’re obsessed with. He’d be dead if your mom ever finds out what you’ve been up to, you know how she is."
"And you know me Mila, I wouldn’t let her lay a finger on him."
"But seriously princess, you need to snap out of it. You almost died last time in that portal, that’s what happens when you stalk someone with bad luck."
Bella’s face instantly twisted into a frown as she glared at Mila, and Mila instantly understood where she’d gone wrong. "I’m sorry." She apologized, looking down.
But Bella reached for her chin, tilting her head up to look at her, "I’ll keep doing this Mila, so please keep helped me okay?" Bella pleaded, her eyes genuinely soft as she looked at Mila’s. Mila nodded, and Bella continued.
"I want to keep seeing him, I’ve watched him from afar for a long time and finally I’ve had the chance to be close with him, I won’t throw that chance away. I’ll make him mine no matter what."
