CHAPTER 89: USE SOME HELP

’Megan it’s too risky to continue with the plan like this.’ I texted agreeing with Mike unfortunately.

’Guys this is our one and only chance to stop Gatwick if we don’t do it now and try later were just adding more victims to the list in the meantime whilst waiting. I dont want to wait and possibly go through what I went through with him again, it might even turn out worse.’ Megan responded.

I was touched by Megans’ enthusiasm and completely agreed with her. However, her safety was just as important.

’I hear you Megan but we can’t go forward with the plan just yet. Not recklessly. I’ll think of something I the meantime.’

She didn’t say anything after that. In fact the chat went quiet.

I began to think of what to do as I sat in the cafe. My bodyguards were seated on a table behind me. After about half an hour of contemplating and a cup of coffee I had ordered I still hadn’t come up with anything.

’Gatwick is here.’ Mike then texted.

Fuck. I still hadn’t figured out what to do next.

Perhaps I could just have them. The longer I waited the more time I wasted.

About 10 minutes passed later I received another message from Mike.

’Jasmine, I can’t find Megan.’ his text read.

My expression. What! I texted back.

I’ve looked around the dining area and kitchen I can’t find her anywhere.

I’m on my way to the basement. Hopefully she’s not doing what I think she’s doing.

I called Mike immediately after hearing this. There was no way Megan had decided to carry out the olsn on her own.

As I waited for him on the phone. He picked up the phone. ’Im in the basement. The recording equipment is gone," he told me. ’She really wants to do this on her own! I’m going to stop her."

"Wait Mike wait for me—" I started but then he then hung up the phone.

This. This was bad. Whatever was going to transpire with Gatwick was going to be bad.

I quickly opened Louis’ contact.

’Louis, I need you to come to the restaurant now." I texted him. ’It’s an emergency. I further explained.

I didn’t wait for him to reply before I got up from the table and turned to the bodyguards that were seated at the table behind me.

"Call the CEO now and tell him to come to the restaurant," I told them. "Preface to him that it’s an emergency."

One of them immediately took our their phones.

If Louis received the message from his men as well I felt it would add to the urgency of the situation.

I rushed to the restaurant entrance where I found security waiting outside. From the manager’s order earlier I knew they were told to keep me out.

I approached the entrance and the security guards took one look at me before they blocked my path.

I turned to Kyle and Henry. "Look I need to get inside. Can you get them to move away or something?"

I hated to encourage violence but I had to get inside. I had to get to Megan and Mike.

Kyle then stepped forward and showed the security guards an ID. The security guards eyes with widened and they moved away opening the oath for us to enter.

My mouth gaped open in shock. "Wait, you can do that?" I asked them.

"Our orders directly come from the CEO we hold a higher status than his other employees," Henry explained.

I hadn’t realized they had that kind of authority. Now I felt dumb. If I realized they could do that I wouldn’t have wasted all this time trying to find a way back in. Kyle and Henry didn’t know what I was up to so they couldn’t extend their help. These past few days I’ve been working quietly without telling them anything.

That meant earlier I could have proven I was working with the CEO to the manager if I had introduced him to Kyle and Henry. I had been thinking of them as the silent presence that was protecting me from Diana, I hadn’t considered what else they could help me with. I let out a sigh. There was no point crying over spilled milk now. Better to rectify the situation.

"Kyle, Henry, please help me," I then asked them.

"What do you need us to do, ma’am?" Kyle asked me.

"I need help stopping Executive Assistant, Andrew Gatwick, whilst we wait for the CEO to arrive," I explained to them.

"Andrew Gatwick is the CEO’s assistant...," Henry started and the two looked at each other surprised.

"You can’t touch him?" I asked wondering if that was the issue.

"Not necessarily, CEO Acland instructed us to protect and extend our help if you need it. Meaning we in turn are supposed to follow your orders, however we don’t know how the CEO will react to this," Kyle explained.

"I will take responsibility for it then. I will explain to the CEO why I resorted to that," I assured them.

The two then accepted my request.

I wasn’t sure what to expect inside but I knew Megan and Mike were in trouble. My initial plan had ultimately failed but there was nothing I could do about that now. I would just have to make sure and present the evidence I had so far to Louis. I just hoped he would be convinced and believe me.

I rushed into the building and began looking for Megan and Mike. I passed through the dining area which was full of diners during lunch service.

I didn’t find Megan or Mike anywhere among the employees working. I then went into the staff area. Kyle and Henry following behind me. I checked the basement no was there. Checked the other rooms on the main floor and didn’t find them. The one place we hadn’t yet checked was the manager’s office and we began to make our way there.

Upon arriving, the three of us slowly approached the closed door and began to hear voices.
