I Am Cultivating in the Apocalypse
Chapter 101: Arrangement
CHAPTER 101: ARRANGEMENT
Mrs. Jing and Mr. Jing couldn’t believe it for a moment, as they couldn’t figure out why in the world someone would specifically use a bomb to target their villa.
"Where did they get the bombs from? It can’t be just to scare us, right? Where did you get this information, Jing Shu? Is it reliable?" Mrs. Jing anxiously asked.
Jing Shu then briefly explained what happened with Wang Dazhao and asked, "Who would want our country to descend into chaos the most? It’s definitely the United States. The more chaos, the better for them. All the American spies they placed before have been exposed. Now, they are using our own people and have secretly brought in lots of bombs to stir up unrest. Otherwise, how could such things appear with our country’s regulations?"
Of course, a bomb’s greatest power is unleashed when ignited, but what about an unlit one...?
"Jing Shu, how are you planning to stop them? We are just three people and we don’t have any traps at the villa. Shouldn’t we wait for Yang Yang of the Armed Police Battalion to bring his men?" Mr. Jing suggested.
"Dad, you drive to South Alley. If you run into a group of people there, it’s definitely them. Just run them over, back and forth a few times. Some of them came by car, others by bike. I’ll set up some large stones and traps on the other side to impede them. Don’t worry, I won’t show my face. It’s so dark that they won’t be able to see me."
After some thought, Jing Shu still decided to deceive her parents into going to a safe place. Even though her parents had drunk from the Spiritual Spring for half a year, at most, they were just a little stronger.
Furthermore, once the fighting started, she wouldn’t have to hold back. In this life, she wasn’t planning on telling her parents about the Magic Cube Space. It was better to let them live safely in the apocalypse, unburdened by such dangerous knowledge.
The way Jing Shu put it, Mr. Jing had a great responsibility while her own danger was minimal, making him feel as though Jing Shu had successfully placed her hopes on him. Carrying this mission, Mr. Jing dropped Jing Shu off at the place she requested, then the BYD car sped away. "Jing Shu, be extremely careful, and don’t try to be a hero! We’ll stay in touch and contact each other immediately if anything happens!"
Jing Shu and her parents agreed to send a number in their group chat every three minutes to signify that everything was normal, which finally put them at ease.
Jing Shu, panting from the heat, watched as her shared location on WeChat with Wang Dazhao drew closer and closer. She quickened her pace and walked two more streets to find the intersection.
This place was very remote; even before the apocalypse, it had been a junction with sparse human traffic and few vehicles.
There were no stars in the sky, only darkness pierced by a hint of red light. Wu City was now like a dead city, devoid of light. Perhaps the scientists were right; it was the darkness that had saved the Earth. Otherwise, it would be hard to imagine how humanity could survive under sunlight at temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.
The opponents had crammed about a hundred people into two medium-sized buses. These vehicles were overloaded by nearly half their intended capacity, so their speed would likely be slow.
So, my earlier idea of just setting up big stones in advance won’t work. Even without sunlight, the vehicles still have headlights and high beams; they definitely wouldn’t be foolish enough to crash into them.
The only viable tactic is for me to crouch in their blind spot. As the vehicles approach, I’ll launch those cone-shaped lethal weapons to cause a collision and give the people inside a nasty surprise.
But this alone was still far from enough. Letting even one escape today would mean future trouble! Jing Shu narrowed her eyes. Anyone who dares to target me—not a single one of them will escape today.
Jing Shu found tree saplings planted before the apocalypse by the desolate roadside; of course, now only withered stems remained. After collecting over a dozen saplings, Jing Shu cleared a little space in her Magic Cube Space to place them aside.
Then, Jing Shu began a series of detailed preparations. An individual’s strength is weak, but wisdom is limitless, she had always believed.
"I’m in the vehicle up front. The one with the bombs is Zhetian’s third brother, in the vehicle behind. He’s two meters tall, very sturdy, and carrying a black box—be careful! We’re almost there!"
"Once the vehicle is hit and stops, you jump out of the window and run fast. If you’re slow, you might die," Jing Shu said.
Jing Shu could see a faint light approaching from afar. They were almost there!
Her heartbeat began to speed up again. Her body started to secrete large amounts of adrenaline, and she began to feel a surge of excitement. As the lights drew closer, her eyes grew brighter and brighter.
"I might die if I run too slowly?" Wang Dazhao didn’t quite understand, but since Jing Shu had said so, he decided he would jump out the moment the vehicle stopped. Conveniently, every window of the minibus was open, and he happened to be sitting right beside one.
Having made all her preparations, Jing Shu hid behind the prototype stone. The focus in her eyes sharpened, becoming as fine as the tip of a needle. Two vehicles, one after the other, were approaching at approximately 50 kilometers per hour. Now!
「...」
"Old Zhang, drive faster! And you guys in the front vehicle, speed up too! Is this a snail’s pace? We’ve been driving for so long, how much further is it?!" Zhang Qiang complained impatiently from the passenger seat, holding a walkie-talkie and shouting, while muttering under his breath:
"I don’t know what that woman Shangguan Jun was thinking so hard about. Is some rundown villa really harder to handle than the Armed Police at the oil base? She had to suggest to the Boss, for safety’s sake, that we bring so many people to bomb that villa. If you ask me, a few of us could have snuck in and bombed it. Who would’ve known? This damn weather is killing me with the heat!"
"Hey, I know there are undercover cops among you bastards, but so what? We won’t give you time to set up an ambush for us in that neighborhood now."
Master Zhang slammed the accelerator. "Brother Qiang, this is as fast as it gets! We’re already twenty people over capacity in this vehicle."
Just then, many conical boulders suddenly appeared in Master Zhang and Zhang Qiang’s field of vision, shooting toward them!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Then came the piercing sound of brakes, but it was clearly too late. Several huge rocks struck them, with one even piercing through the front windshield. The already overloaded vehicle was suddenly struck by a conical stone, instantly killing five or six people.
"What is that? Damn it, where did all these stones come from?"
Because of the sudden, hard braking and the impact of multiple stones, both vehicles flipped over and skidded for some distance.
Zhang Qiang’s legs trembled. A stench of shit and urine streamed down his pant leg as he shook. He stared in horror at the people beside him, now crushed beyond recognition by the stones. Master Zhang’s entire upper body was gone!
Chaos erupted inside the vehicles, with screams all around; many people were unable to move at all.
"Shit, don’t press down on me, I can’t get out!"
"Damn it, let me crawl out first!"
Due to the overloading, when the vehicles suddenly braked hard and flipped, people on one side were piled on top of each other. Those at the very bottom suffocated under the weight, while some were flung out.
"Did you think it was over?" In the darkness, Jing Shu laughed joyfully. I’ve really gone all out today; I hope the results don’t disappoint me.
