CHAPTER 637: MOVING INTO THE NEW VILLA

"Exactly. They said we might not even get any bedding. How are we supposed to cope in this cold weather?"

Jing Shu raised her eyes, stood up, and signaled Liu to pack up. Then, she picked up her suitcase and walked out. "If you want to be good people, go ahead on your own. Don’t drag me into it. Don’t try to be a hero if you don’t have the ability."

As she spoke, she left the private room, leaving everyone with a view of her cool and impressive departing figure.

Gold Dominator clicked his tongue and shook his head. When he first met this woman, she had seemed somewhat cautious, deliberately keeping a low profile. But now, she was truly revealing her sharp nature.

"I can’t do anything about the room situation. You all saw how tight resources are this time. Either the girls give up their rooms and sleep on the cold floor, or your old Principal sleeps there. Okay, I’m not going to play around with you all anymore. I’m going to check my room first. By the way, Young Master Lan, those two pigs will be in your care for the next few days."

"Ah, got it, Brother Tyrant, don’t worry. Oh, I’ll call you at mealtime."

...

The girls discussed it briefly and ultimately decided not to give up their rooms. After all, it was too inconvenient for so many of them. Thus, they had to let the old Principal endure the hardship.

Jing Shu, accompanied by Liu, went outside to find Li Yuetian. He was sitting on the ground, wearily sipping Turtle Snake Wine. This wine had kept his rheumatism at bay ever since he started drinking it.

Around them, people had already begun digging pits and filtering water.

"I’ve arranged for your truck and driver; they’ll be under my management for now. By the way, I’ve also assigned your driver and this colleague who came with you to a two-bed room," Li Yuetian said, smacking his lips. He was thinking about how much he would rely on Jing Shu in the future.

Li Yuetian now practically wished Jing Shu would ask for his help. Sigh, is it really so hard for me to be of some use while I’m still alive?

"Thanks, I was worried they wouldn’t have a place to stay. By the way, weren’t there only fifty rooms with beds?"

Li Yuetian touched his nose and smiled. "You just set up a frame, throw some bedding on it, partition off a section, and there you have another room, don’t you? Right now, bedding is what’s really in short supply. We’ve had to distribute old curtains and pieces of cloth as well. Even so, many people still won’t have blankets to cover themselves. Luckily, our team members always carry their packs and bags when we go out. So, if you still want a ’single room,’ it’s no problem for me to spare some more. Don’t worry, I’ll use our Second Team’s own resources."

Jing Shu nodded in understanding. "Coincidentally, I was hoping for a single room myself..."

"No big deal. Just give me the name, and I’ll have my nephew, Li Chenglong, go and set up a fully equipped single room for you on the spot."

After giving the old Principal’s name to Li Yuetian, Jing Shu told Liu, "Liu, take the old Principal there first. Explain the situation and see if he needs any more help. We’ll meet back in the auction’s private room later."

"Sure thing, Boss." Liu adjusted his glasses, his admiration for Jing Shu growing. A boss who operates so calmly and subtly is the most impressive kind.

The others could never have imagined that what was a matter of desperately scarce resources for them could be arranged so simply by Jing Shu.

Li Yuetian continued to sip his wine leisurely, supervising the work. Reports on the situation on each floor came through his walkie-talkie intermittently.

The wind howled, chillingly cold, signaling that the building was moving faster and faster.

To others, only reflective surfaces revealed any scenery. But with Jing Shu’s full night vision, she could see everything around her clearly.

"Damn it." Jing Shu stood for a while before she couldn’t help cursing.

Li Yuetian cautiously asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing much." Jing Shu sighed. Li Yuetian, being in the dark, and ordinary people might not understand this feeling, but Jing Shu could see it clearly. The building, much like a ship, was advancing at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour.

The building they were in was currently wedged in a muddy, rocky river flowing between two large mountain ranges. It was surrounded by seemingly endless mountain ranges. Beneath these ranges lay an endless flow of mud, all shrouded in pitch darkness.

For any rescue team to find the New World Building in these vast, boundless mountains would be incredibly difficult, almost impossible.

If it drifted to the end of its course or collided with something, the consequences would be dire. Sigh... but at this rate, even if we wanted to hit something to stop, it’s probably impossible. It’s too desolate out here, completely bare, nothing at all. This feeling is so oppressive.

"I’m heading back." Jing Shu shook her head. Even with her abilities, she couldn’t stop such a massive building. After all, it wasn’t just a few houses. Jing Shu briefly considered getting some large stones from her storage space to see if she could somehow wedge the building to a stop. But this damn thing is like a small island!

As luck would have it, Jing Shu’s villa was placed right next to the private auction rooms!

Passing the private auction rooms, one went straight onto the display platform, and then could enter the villa’s door. Although it was right under everyone’s noses, there was currently no better place to situate the villa. The New World’s exterior parking lot had been detached, so there wasn’t much usable land left, and other areas weren’t safe.

Right under everyone’s noses then, so be it.

Her classmates watched with envy, jealousy, and hatred as Jing Shu walked into the villa alone. SLAM! The door shut.

Fortunately, the interior was a sealed, private space, designed according to pre-apocalypse standards. Upon entering, there was an enclosed courtyard. The garage was on the right, and the main hall was on the left.

It had two floors in total, with four rooms, two bathrooms, a large living hall, and two kitchens—fully equipped, much like any other typical villa. Most of the furniture was fixed in place—cabinets, the dining table, sofa, beds, and the like were all immovable.

There was no electricity or running water, so cooking was out of the question.

Upon entering the villa, it felt as if the doors to the outside world had closed. All the arguments and noise faded.

In the pitch-black interior, Jing Shu stood straight, suitcase in hand. She half-closed her eyes and began to concentrate.

Two soft gloves liquefied and slid from Jing Shu’s hands. Gripping pieces of black cloth, they began to seal every window and corner, completely closing off the villa from the outside.

Venomous snakes slithered out one by one, and countless small insects crawled out in dense swarms. They scurried over every inch of the villa, inside and out, covering the floor, walls, roof, and eaves—they were everywhere, checking for anything unusual—any tell-tale red or black lights, or any surveillance and eavesdropping devices.

Jing Shu also conducted her own thorough search. Only after confirming it was safe did she switch on the energy-saving lights in the living room and kitchen.

The entire villa instantly lit up. She started to like having light, even though it was very faint.

The quality of this villa was clearly not as good as those in the Banana District, but its advantages were its light weight and that it was foldable.

The myriad small insects vanished like a receding tide, crawling back into various nooks and crannies. The venomous snakes also disappeared, as if none of it had ever happened.

Jing Shu took out some daily necessities from her storage space. The villa was very cold, so silk quilts were essential, and a stove was also necessary.

Alright, time to set up the foldable bathtub and have a good, long soak in hot water.
