I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 577 - 575: The Sun
CHAPTER 577: CHAPTER 575: THE SUN
Several days later, Wei Tianyang set up a temporary research base around the blood pool. Meanwhile, large quantities of construction machinery were successively transported to this deserted desert oasis.
During this time, he brought many more people, having them enter the blood pool to complete the transformation, but the results were the same. As soon as they left the blood pool, these giants, standing more than 3 meters tall, would dissolve from the inside.
In the end, he allowed only the last person to enter the blood pool. After transforming into a giant, this individual stayed inside while the surrounding research team began their studies.
At this time, the giant sat in the center of the blood pool, quietly allowing the researchers to manipulate him. His body was covered with patches, and cables connected him to machines on the shore as generators roared, providing power for the entire camp.
Wei Tianyang had never felt such urgency as he did now; after all, in his many years of research, none came closer to success than this.
But he also knew, the closer he got to success, the more patience was required.
He stayed in this desert camp, employing his own power to expedite the construction process, digging foundations, freezing the fine sands, and transporting hundreds of tons of building materials from the distant port of Felda.
A month later, the entire blood pool was encased within a triangular, tower-shaped building.
This building had four stories, with a hollow center. The blood pool area was covered by a glass canopy, with research equipment on the first floor, and laboratories on the second to fourth floors. The researchers observed the giant through the central glass shaft and operated experimental machinery via remote control.
Next to the tower was a residential area, connected by an aluminum walkway.
Heading the research was not the team left by Johnny; this time, it was a kinship summoned by Wei Tianyang through Helena Mina.
This female doctor was named Olino, about Lin Yan’s age, a Caucasian. She had been transformed by Wei Tianyang during a scientific forum on life engineering.
Wei Tianyang’s motive at the time was merely to obtain some potentially useful research findings in the future. He had not anticipated that these individuals could be utilized today.
Wei Tianyang had searched through Olino’s memories, learning about her background. She had grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her father was a bigwig in the Federation’s medical circles, and her mother held a government post—a genuine golden child.
It was no surprise that Olino had become an expert in any field she chose, with her mother’s political career dictating that she would be matched with those in power.
Olino was not the absolute top in life engineering but was a rising superstar. Wei Tianyang was not fussy; as long as she was useful, that was all that mattered.
At the moment, he stood with Olino, who had already transformed into a kin and held tremendous respect for Wei Tianyang—a respect that stemmed from a genetic foundation, akin to a sense of hierarchy within the food chain.
All who became Wei Tianyang’s kinship had, in their deepest subconscious, acknowledged themselves as a subordinate species at Wei Tianyang’s beck and call. To put it more dramatically, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration for Wei Tianyang to consider them as food.
"Why do they dissolve after leaving the blood pool?" Wei Tianyang asked.
With utmost reverence, Olino responded, "We have compared the DNA differences before and after evolution..."
"Keep it short; I don’t understand the technical details," Wei Tianyang said.
"Uhh... simply put, the very basis of their existence is the blood pool; they can only survive in a specific environment," Olino said.
"Does this align with... the scientific logic of your life engineering? There’s no such creature on Earth," Wei Tianyang said.
"The Heavenly Falling Objects also don’t fit scientific logic, but science merely falsifies, never confirms. If a phenomenon exists, we seek to explain it. You could think of them as fish that cannot live without water," Olino said.
Wei Tianyang nodded and said, "Is there a way for them not to rely on the blood pool anymore? After all, there are amphibious creatures that live in water."
"I think what they can’t do without might not be the blood pool," Olino said.
"How so?" Wei Tianyang said.
"What they can’t leave behind is whatever your blood brings with it. As long as they can stay under this power, perhaps they can leave the blood pool. We’ve studied the blood pool; it emits a certain kind of radiation energy field. I’ve also been exposed to the radiation; this power has altered the DNA structure in my body, but I haven’t entered the blood pool, so the changes aren’t substantial," Olino explained.
Wei Tianyang was satisfied and said, "Does this radiation energy come from my blood?"
Olino nodded and said, "Your blood is like a liquid radiation source which can affect those around it. However, the radiation dosage is very small, and it’s also wrapped under your skin. So, under normal circumstances, not many people can feel its effects."
Wei Tianyang thought for a moment and said, "Perhaps humans don’t feel much of an effect, but the Heavenly Falling Objects could be more significantly affected."
This was how Baphomet grew larger.
Although he had come to a conclusion, it virtually told Wei Tianyang that the blood pool was a dead end.
After all, Wei Tianyang could not possibly have every inch of the world, every cubic meter of water, steeped in his blood.
Leaving aside whether he even had that much blood, the very notion was highly impractical.
"This is unrealistic," Wei Tianyang shook his head and said.
With a thin smile, Olino said, "However, there is another possibility."
Wei Tianyang looked up slightly and said, "Go on."
"Perhaps your blood isn’t a radiation source but has, after being impacted, acquired radiative properties," Olino said.
Wei Tianyang pondered and said, "Are you suggesting that I am the radiation source?"
Olino nodded and said, "It’s just speculation. I don’t know if you have the ability to actively emit such radiation. If possible, humans could evolve through the blood pool and then survive under this radiation source."
Wei Tianyang did not speak; he was deep in thought. The changes in Baphomet proved that he had the ability to affect others, and Baphomet had indeed mentioned that it only slowly changed by staying close to him and consuming living prey.
Humans are frailer and denser; they need to go through the Witch’s womb, dissolving into a more dispersed state in the blood pool, heavily influenced by him, transforming their form of life. Then they rely on living prey to reassemble...
It is a biological reconstruction, akin to how single-celled organisms emerged from the sea onto land millions of years ago, evolving into new forms of life...
But ultimately, they need to survive under the sun.
This world, however, was without their sun.
Wei Tianyang said, "I think I have an idea of what that radiation source could be..."
Wei Tianyang turned to leave. The final step of human evolution rested on him to complete.
"I will become... your sun."
