CHAPTER 77: DIFFERENT KINDS OF SPELLS

Olivia walked closer to Johan, her eyes curious, "What’s that?" She had never heard of something like using God’s energy to cast a spell.

Orihime, finally noticing an opportunity to change the topic from the previous conversation of Sebastian, and Johan, chimed in, "There are many different kinds of spells. Some say you can’t even put them in numbers, but what’s most known to us humans, and other mammals are just four..."

Olivia turned to Orihime, her eyes widening at the infinite possibilities of spells.

Orihime smiled, "Verdant Weave, Celestial Edict, Whisper Pact, Aetherflow—these are the four basic types. Simpler names for them are nature magic, divine magic, spirit magic, and finally the most commonly used and simply categorized as Aether or mana, referring to our body’s natural mana and Aether reserves," she explained calmly.

Their names were enough of an explanation for Olivia. She instantly understood—Verdant Weave (nature magic) used natural Aether present in nature, dimensions, or even elements, like using a river’s water to cast a [Hurricane] spell.

Celestial Edict (divine magic), from the way Johan described it, seemed to borrow its energy from the Gods of different legends, which also made her wonder if those legends were all true.

Whisper Pact (spirit magic) was something she was using right at this moment. Her soul was connected with the God Tree, which led to her body being in a constant state of a weird kind of spirit magic.

So the definition was clear to her—a magic that lets you make contracts with different kinds of monsters, spirits, or even Gods, and then, using your body to output the contracted being’s powers. It also posed heavy negative effects to the body if there was no agreement between the parties. Most common: corruption.

These three could only be used with specific chants or rituals that one had to learn through reading ancient books on magic, Aether, etc. There were myths of some mantle being able to use spirit magic chantlessly, so maybe it was possible, but the easier way was to just use chants.

And finally, Aetherflow (mana, or Aether). Every living creature had Aether and mana inside of them. It was what made them "living." People with royal blood (the direct blood of the creator) could control their Aether, meaning even their mana would be transformed into pure Aether inside their Aether cores.

Olivia, after being able to use both, understood: the difference between them was just density. If one had a palm full of melted Aether on a weighing scale, mana would weigh 40 kg while Aether would weigh 200 kg. And this little difference in density changed the output by almost a hundredfold.

Also, if you poured enough mana, you could theoretically make it as dense as Aether—something done by Kirin and many manabeasts.

Johan, looking at their thoughtful faces, smiled mysteriously. "You missed two more, Orihime..." instantly getting all three of their attention.

This information was supposed to be learned in the Doomsday arc of the original story, known to everyone after that, but Johan chose to tell them now as it wasn’t anything world-shattering, and maybe Olivia and Sebastian could benefit from it.

"Rune Script, and Fell Hex."

Johan then turned his head towards Orihime. "Sealing magic also comes under Rune Script," which made her widen her eyes to the limit. Why hadn’t they heard of this? Velmire had researched magic his entire life, and the Crimson Empire was the most focused on the research of magic.

"Can you explain clearly?" Orihime asked seriously, her real body instantly pulling out a notebook. Humanity hadn’t had a breakthrough like new kinds of magic in more than seven hundred years. This could change everything.

"Yeah, no shit, that’s why I brought that up in the first place!" Johan blurted out loudly, instantly regretting the way he said it, startling all three of the people around him.

"...I am sorry?" Orihime said hesitantly, wondering if she had done something to anger him, but let it pass as the information was more important.

Johan sighed, looking at Sebastian, Orihime, and Olivia’s confused, and a bit scared faces, wondering if the old Johan was coming back after all the big talk.

’Melodis!!! I need you right now, your holy aura is diminishing...’ Johan screamed to himself, getting no reply. Melodis must have been fighting someone, going all out, and the holy aura had started gathering to his own body instinctively.

Even though the amount lost was negligible, it still moved away from equal. Like it was 50-50 holy aura from both sides, now it’s 48-50, Johan sensed.

’This will definitely cause so many problems, especially with trying to comfort Acier, and others... maybe I will...’ Johan thought of something, rubbing his hands on a blue ring in his pocket.

’The seal was still active, if I could just go inside it... No, I won’t be able to use [Defuse] from outside, maybe Sebastian could... but, yeah, definitely not possible, the real body of the God Tree is still inside it...

I will just have to work my way through till I can teleport Melodis back here with Kirin using Orihime’s technique, then he can fix this.’ Johan made up his mind, pulling his hand out from the pocket.

Johan smiled apologetically toward the group, especially Orihime. ’Sorry, I was just tired’—to which she nodded calmly, not really bothered by it.

Johan then flashed the blue ring to Sebastian and Olivia, and their eyes instantly brightened, understanding what had happened, and what could happen due to this...

"Anyways, Rune Script is the magic that uses different kinds of ores which are rich in mana or Aether through an output vessel like a wand or a robe. Then after using them, the users charge up these rune stones, or get new ones," Johan explained calmly, making sure not to let anything he would regret saying slip by.

Orihime’s eyes brightened. "So, by Velmire being a user, you meant that his spells are the runes in this case?"

"Yeah, but it’s a mix of both Aetherflow and this. And also, the magic circles that we draw to get the magic out of the body—technically being Aetherflow—still count as Rune Script."

Orihime nodded thoughtfully, taking notes of everything. *’Then staffs count as Rune Script too?

It’s interesting... I can increase the search for these stones in dungeons, but our technology also needs reform.

This has too many possibilities... maybe even commoners will finally be able to use Aether, after millions of years...’* a soft smile appeared on her face, sending the information to Velmire instantly with her technique.

"As for Fell Hex..."

A.N.= I am starting a new book, wrote first Chapter today, not published yet, but yeah it’s gonna be peak too, though my workload definitely increased, but once I get in a comfortable system, I can publish 3-3 Chapters of both right? But yeah, I will need to give up on this stupid laziness and procrastination. One day, I will be a platinum author with a seven figure income. This is my goal for now with the goal of bringing these worlds to life.

And finally some worldbuilding and magic lore. Sigh. People asked so many questions. I was cooking smth gang, it’s a story telling style, you know, the less u know of something the more you want to know it, but I finally gave in, enjoy.
