CHAPTER 91: LEARNING MORE ABOUT MYSELF?

Johan felt like this was genuinely stupid, if they were that unbeatable, why was he trying to beat them?

"Ah, the irony..." Nolan chuckled, schooling his expression, "Are you not trying to do the same with Leor, Lucifer, and Radhaan? You have no chance against them. Even I would struggle in a physical fight without using my ability, and who are you?"

Johan went silent. For him, those three were like a natural disaster too—something that he should run away from, as fast as he possibly could. It was extremely stupid to make an enemy out of someone like Leor.

But he was actively charging toward them, ignoring all and any kind of fear, even his survival instinct.

’Why?’

Johan grinned as if finally solving the puzzle of Nolan.

"I see, so they are that powerful, huh?" He finally believed Nolan’s description about them being invincible, gaining a bit of understanding of the scale of the world too.

’Maybe the endgame Vivi, endgame Leor, or Ymir also counted as outer Gods technically.’

Nolan’s expression darkened, a trace of unease flickering in his eyes. "But there is something even more concerning."

He looked off into the void, as if trying to measure infinity itself. "There are infinite universes, countless being formed every second as the fabric of it all keeps spreading further and further."

His voice dropped a tone, heavier now, almost reverent. "And every universe gives birth to its own laws of reality, physics, and... these creatures. Let’s call them outer Gods." Nolan’s voice dimmed.

’Born like the creator Ymir’s myth told by the church? So it was really true. Every time a universe comes into existence, a creature as powerful as Ymir is born... And there are infinite numbers of them...’ Johan’s breath shook. He finally started to understand the true horror of what Nolan was talking about.

He was just a speck of dust... no, just a molecule in a vast, vast universe that was constantly expanding, making him smaller, and smaller.

Suddenly, a question popped up in Johan’s mind. *’Will we be in danger?

If there are so many of them, and our universe is not weak at all, with creatures like Ymir, the Goddess of Death who should still be loyal to Ymir, and hundreds of other Gods...

There’s no way they will all attack us together, right? So if some do, we can certainly defend.’* Johan asked genuinely, scratching his mind filled with battle experience.

This didn’t make any sense. Then why was Nolan so scared?

Nolan’s face grew strange, his voice lowering. "No, the situation is quite different. Goddess Ymir is not a normal outer God. Her ability is something never seen, even in the infinite multiverse."

Johan’s eyes grew curious at the sudden change of topic. He knew what the ability of Ymir was from the game. It was... imagination.

Definitely overpowered—like anything she imagined became real. She imagined her Aether reserves were infinite, then they were.

She imagined the Goddess of Death didn’t exist—she wouldn’t. Even her history would be removed, all that with just a thought.

Even though both were technically at the same level, the difference was obvious because of how overly powerful Ymir was, even among her peers.

Only a man with an ability like Leor’s could’ve defeated her.

"Her ability is imagination," Nolan repeated Johan’s thoughts.

Then Nolan’s voice reeked of admiration. "The moment she was born—the moment our universe was born—hundreds of outer Gods, the ones who could peer into the future, hastily rushed to our fresh universe. To try to kill a future threat, Ymir, right then and there at her birth, destroying our universe in the process too..."

Johan’s eyes widened. If the outer Gods were just as Nolan described them, and the Goddess of Death was endgame—then the just-born Ymir should have been a toddler in front of them.

"No matter how special she was, she couldn’t have survived them all. We all would’ve never existed as well," Nolan said softly, his voice turning grateful as he looked at the skies.

Then, his voice shook a little. "So... she imagined that every universe had a barrier between them and was an entirely separate dimension that couldn’t be entered no matter what.

And what we describe as infinity in science... be present between them," Nolan said with a smile, his voice turning deeper then.

"The distance between each universe became infinite. This wasn’t a barrier, but a new law, and it literally applied to the fabric of all universes," Nolan added the explanation with a frown.

Johan’s entire body trembled, his heart beating so fast that it could fly out of his chest.

This was something new. Something never mentioned in the game before. ’Maybe it would’ve been in the DLC, but that doesn’t matter anymore.’

Just as Johan was about to say something, Nolan’s face turned serious—indicating he wasn’t done. It also made Johan suspect that this wasn’t going to have a happy ending.

"This wasn’t without cost for Ymir.

She had to make a contract with the fabric itself. No one knows the details of that contract, but it was probably about making her technique effective at a higher dimension than the one she was present in.

And when she successfully applied the law, and survived, her soul was too fractured, and very badly damaged to even move for centuries.

The result of radiation, and the damage to a lower-dimensional creature melding with a higher dimension.

But at least she—and we all—survived." Nolan sighed, now staring at Johan as if asking him to finish what he started.

"The beings who liked to conquer as much as they possibly could were locked in a prison against their will...

Even though Ymir’s enemies were just a hundred, she effectively made an enemy out of an infinite number of outer Gods throughout the multiverse." Johan didn’t disappoint, perfectly concluding what had happened.

But then another, natural question raised itself.

Author’s Note: A question guys, is this slow or do you like epic worldbuilding as much as I do?
