CHAPTER 100: CHAPTER 100: TAKING THE INITIATIVE (PART 1)

Both of them returned to the hospital together. Tommy Taylor had already completed the transfer procedures and sent Grandma Wave onto the ambulance. Kris Cooper and Vera Wave accompanied her to the Intensive Care Unit at Akriel Hospital.

The ward only had Grandma Wave, along with a companion bed, which was far better than before.

Mrs. Lee kept exclaiming by the side.

"This ward is almost like a star-rated hotel!"

Once all procedures were completed and the doctor finished the handover, it was already past seven in the evening.

Tommy Taylor bought dinner and handed it to Mrs. Lee, who then looked at Vera Wave.

"I’ll take care of Grandma, you two should go eat dinner soon!"

By this time, Grandma Wave was already half-asleep. Vera Wave went over to help adjust her quilt and gently instructed Mrs. Lee on a few things before leaving the ward with Kris Cooper and Tommy Taylor.

After going downstairs, Tommy Taylor saw the two off to Kris Cooper’s car, personally helped Vera Wave close the car door, and then turned to leave.

"Hungry? What do you want to eat?" Kris Cooper asked while driving.

Vera Wave looked down, fiddling with the seatbelt, "Whatever you feel like eating, I’ll accompany you."

"Do you have something on your mind?"

"No, what could I be worried about?" Vera Wave raised a slight smile, trying to perk up, "There’s a grilled meat place ahead; let’s go eat grilled meat, shall we?"

The car stopped in front of the grilled meat restaurant, and the two walked inside, finding a spot by the window upstairs.

Kris Cooper ordered the meat and vegetables she liked, and when the waiter asked if they wanted alcohol, he simply shook his head.

After a moment, the food and drinks were served.

Vera Wave ate absentmindedly, occasionally sneaking glances at him, then looked away again.

Seeing her demeanor, Kris Cooper smiled.

"Say what’s on your mind."

"I..."

Vera Wave bit her lip, looking at the grilled meat he placed on her plate, hesitating to speak.

Akriel Hospital is the best private hospital in the Imperial City. She knows this well, with the best environment and doctors.

The good hospital also means expensive costs. She had already asked the nurse while at the hospital; the Intensive Care Unit cost over three hundred USD a day, not including medication fees.

Even with a fifty percent discount, it’s still four to five thousand a month, plus medication costs, which are astronomical. How could she possibly afford it?

Looking up, seeing her slightly pale face, Kris Cooper served some grilled meat onto her plate.

"Since you’ve already changed positions, your salary will definitely be adjusted too. Your basic salary will still follow the company’s rate, but each month, I’ll personally give you a bonus. As long as you perform well, there will definitely be no shortage of that bonus."

He knew she was troubled by financial issues, and he said this to reassure her.

"Thank you, President."

Vera Wave thanked, taking a piece of meat into her mouth, yet found it tasteless.

She couldn’t remember how she ate that meal, only recalling stuffing herself with lots of meat without tasting anything.

Even when she returned to the neighborhood with Kris Cooper, her mind was still somewhat distant.

When they got to the second floor, a startled stray cat jumped out, causing her to jump in fright and scream next to Kris Cooper.

"Don’t be scared, it’s just a cat!"

Kris Cooper comfortingly embraced her, gently tapping her back.

Vera Wave lifted her face, sure enough seeing the cat quickly jump away, and laughed at herself.

"It scared me to death."

She took out the key intending to unlock the door, but her shoulder was held by Kris Cooper.
