CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: I’LL SHOW YOU (1)
Their lips tangled.
His fingers tunneled into her dark hair. The slightly damp strands felt cool against her skin, but as his warm hand brushed them, an electric current seemed to shoot across Vera Wave’s scalp, making it tingle.
Her breath hitched, and Vera Wave’s chest tightened, making it hard for her to breathe.
Instinctively, she raised her hands to push away the man on top of her.
When she looked up, she met his amber-colored eyes. They twinkled in the dim light, unseen flames dancing deep within them.
His gaze seemed to pierce right through her, as if trying to see directly into her heart.
A passionate heat in his eyes made her flush, and an emotion she couldn’t comprehend made her heart pound.
Cradling her face in his hands, Kris Cooper said in a hoarse voice, "Vera, I’ve been waiting for this day."
His words echoed in her mind, replaying over and over.
As she stared at Kris Cooper, another figure suddenly flashed in her mind—someone holding her just as close, kissing her just as passionately... She blinked, trying to see his face clearly, but all she perceived was a blur of light and shadow.
Suddenly, something cold landed on her chest. The unexpected touch made her skin prickle, and she jolted.
Snapping out of her daze, she instinctively looked down. Two rings, one large and one small, lay quietly on her chest.
They were strung on a silver chain that usually hung on Kris Cooper’s chest, concealed beneath his clothes. It had slipped out and now lay across hers.
Seeing him lean down to kiss her chest, Vera Wave suddenly remembered something very important she hadn’t yet discussed.
"President!"
Kris Cooper looked up and smiled at her. "Call me Brother Kris."
"Brother... Brother Kris, I... I have something to say..."
Taking a deep breath, Kris Cooper lifted his face, bringing it close to hers again. "Don’t be nervous. I’ll be very gentle; it won’t hurt..."
"No, I—"
Before she could finish, Kris Cooper’s lips were gently kissing hers again.
"Vera, don’t make me stop now!"
"But... we haven’t discussed the price!"
Kris Cooper chuckled softly, lifting his face to meet her eyes again. "I’m not charging you."
"..."
Vera Wave was stunned.
His kiss descended again.
She frantically raised a hand to block his face. "Not me paying you—it’s you paying me!"
He pays her?!
Kris Cooper’s eyes narrowed. He reached up and pulled her hand away from his face.
"What did you say?"
Meeting his gaze, Vera Wave felt a pang of guilt. This was the first time she had ever done something like this, especially under these circumstances; she barely knew how to bring it up. Lowering her eyes, unable to meet his, she whispered, "I... I need money!"
Money?!
Kris Cooper suddenly understood why she had been so proactive. "Are you trying to sell yourself to me, huh?!"
As he spoke the last word, his tone was devoid of desire, filled instead with an emotion that made her heart clench.
The pressure on her body suddenly vanished, the warmth disappearing with it. The cool night air of spring enveloped her again, and her skin instantly prickled from the chill.
What followed struck her like a clap of thunder.
"Get out!" Kris Cooper roared, his fists clenched at the edge of the bed.
For money? For money? She had actually climbed into his bed willingly... for money? The mere thought made him seethe with a rage so intense he wanted to kill.
