CHAPTER 127: CHAPTER 127: FINISH EATING BEFORE I RETURN

Vera Wave froze for two seconds, attempting to retract her arm, but the man’s voice echoed at the side of her face.

"Hold me while you sleep!"

After all this time, her arm was still cold. Was this girl a cold-blooded creature?

Helplessly, Vera Wave wrapped her arm around his neck, pressing against his warm skin without hesitation.

She had to say, holding him like this was indeed warm. A natural hot-water bottle! It’d be such a waste not to use him. Vera Wave tucked her legs up, pressing her cold feet against his leg.

After a while, seeing that the man did not seem to be angry, she went further and pressed her other foot against him.

Startled by her cold feet, Kris Cooper frowned, moved his palm, and covered her ice-cold feet.

Vera Wave’s heart tightened. Had she angered him? Was he going to throw her out?!

However, to her surprise, Kris Cooper didn’t throw her out. Instead, he covered her cold feet with his warm palm.

Feeling his action, Vera Wave was puzzled.

What... What is he thinking?

She pondered, her eyebrows knitted together, unable to come up with a reasonable explanation. The weariness from her gradually warming body took over, and she slowly drifted to sleep.

Listening to her steady breathing, Kris Cooper frowned.

This room didn’t get any sun and was even colder than his room. The spring in Imperial City was hard to bear once the heating was turned off. It takes more than a month for it to really warm up. It seems he needed to think about finding her a better place to live.

The next morning, Vera Wave woke up feeling extremely heavy.

"Kris Cooper, get up!"

Groggily thinking it was him on top of her, she murmured and tried to push off the weight, only to find it very soft.

She opened her eyes in confusion to find his pillow from the night before.

Looking down at herself, apart from the duvet, there was an additional thin quilt, a blanket, and a men’s coat on top.

Without guessing, she knew it was Kris Cooper’s doing.

Looking at the tightly closed curtain, she reached out for her phone but ended up touching a set of keys. Vera Wave turned her head to look. Beside her phone lay two sets of keys and a note.

""Flying to Singapore at noon, will be back in two days. I’ll be off during these two days, so you can take a break. Keep your phone on and charged 24/7. If I can’t reach you, you are in trouble.

"There are important items in my room; remember to sleep there tonight and keep a good eye on them. If anything goes missing, you’re the one to blame!

"PS: Take one vitamin after meals each day to clear up the sores in your mouth. Only take the painkillers if the pain is intolerable. Finish the fruits in my room before I get back. Call me as soon as you see this note.

"Bossy, ****!"

Vera Wave angrily tossed aside Kris Cooper’s note, retreating back into her cozy bed. After all, he had given her a day off. She might as well lie in for a while longer.

Just as her head hit the pillow, her phone rang. Without even looking, she picked up the call.

"Hello?!"

As soon as the call connected, someone’s annoyed roar sounded from the phone.

"Are you a pig? Still asleep? Get up and eat right away."

"I’m not sleeping; I’m awake."

"Then why didn’t you call me back?"

Keeping his temper, he had waited so long, to the point of boarding the plane, yet she still hadn’t called back. How could he be at ease?

"I..." Vera Wave gave a sneaky smile. "I was just about to call, and you called instead. Well... I mean, my dear, have a safe trip! Hope everything goes smoothly at work! If you don’t mind, stay a few more days in Singapore since the air there is good."
