I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 137 Vera Wave’s Bottom Line (2)
CHAPTER 137: CHAPTER 137 VERA WAVE’S BOTTOM LINE (2)
Emily Miller, having navigated the workplace for so long, was certainly no pushover. While inwardly frustrated at the trouble these two had brought her, she quickly sprang into action to resolve the problem.
She shot a glance at her subordinates, signaling them to take Ria Chapman away. Then, Emily entered the CEO Office.
Inside the office, Vera Wave had already packed her bag and a few office supplies into a small cardboard box.
"Miss Wave, what are you doing?"
"I’m truly sorry, Emily!" Vera said, offering an apologetic smile. "I’ve caused you all so much trouble, I really am. I take full responsibility for this incident and will bear all the consequences. I’ll resign voluntarily."
Vera was not the type to shirk responsibility. Since she was the one who had hit someone, she wouldn’t run away. Causing trouble for others simply wasn’t in her nature.
"This..."
Emily was somewhat surprised. She had thought she would need to coax this young lady, but she hadn’t expected Vera to react this way.
Even though she’s the CEO’s favorite, she doesn’t act spoiled. That’s truly rare.
"Miss Wave, actually, you don’t have to do this." Emily’s good impression of Vera immediately deepened. She smiled at her. "Miss Chapman is just that type of person. When Mr. Cooper comes back, you can explain things to him. He personally hired you as his assistant. If you leave like this, I won’t know how to explain it to the CEO!"
Stepping forward, she cheerfully took the cardboard box from Vera’s hands and placed it back on the small desk Kris Cooper had specially prepared for her.
"How about this? Your clothes are wet, and it’s getting late. Why don’t you go home first, change your clothes, and get some rest? When Mr. Cooper returns in a few days, we can discuss this then. What do you think?"
Who was right or wrong wasn’t Emily’s concern; she only cared about how best to report to Kris Cooper.
As for who the CEO would side with, that was his business. But she absolutely couldn’t let Vera leave her responsibility like this.
Otherwise, if the big boss inquired, she wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences.
Emily’s tone was sincere, and Vera found it hard to refuse.
"Alright then... I’ll head home first."
"Your clothes are all wet. How about I get you a coat?" Emily offered kindly.
"No need to trouble you, it’s not too bad. I’ll just change when I get home."
Vera politely declined, nodded at Emily, then picked up her bag and walked out of the CEO Office.
Emily sighed in relief and hurried over to comfort Ria Chapman.
Ria Chapman was obviously not as easy to deal with as Vera. She cursed everyone present, then tearfully called her father to complain. Not stopping there, she vowed to demand satisfaction before leaving with a pout, huffing angrily.
Everyone escorted her to the elevator as if she were a celebrity. Only when the elevator doors closed did Emily’s smile vanish.
"Don’t assume she’ll come out on top. Who knows who the CEO will side with when he returns!"
"Exactly! She’s just a minor shareholder in Glimmer. She really thinks too highly of herself!"
The junior assistants, who had often endured this young lady’s temper, clearly favored Vera.
Emily coughed lightly. "No one is to breathe a word of this. This incident must not be discussed outside our 31st floor! If anyone leaks this to other floors, don’t expect me to show any leniency!"
The workplace is like a battlefield; any careless word or action can lead to severe consequences.
For such an incident to occur right after the CEO left... if it escalated, she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Everyone affirmed in unison and returned to their workstations to continue their duties.
