I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 148: What Does It Feel Like?
CHAPTER 148: CHAPTER 148: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
Actually, Andre Colin had met Vera Wave long ago in the US, so he recognized her at a glance.
He only knew she had amnesia and deliberately pretended it was their first meeting to avoid making her feel awkward.
"So you’re the director, Andre! Hello, hello!" Vera raised her little hand to shake his.
Before her fingers could touch Andre Colin’s palm, Kris Cooper lifted his hand to grab her arm.
"Don’t waste time, hurry up!"
Back in the US, Andre Colin had already witnessed this master’s jealousy skills, so he wasn’t surprised. He lifted his hand, turning a handshake into a gesture of invitation.
"Come with me!"
The three of them entered a consulting room together. Andre Colin invited them to sit while he sat in front of the computer, taking the lab results Kris Cooper handed over, examining them one by one with care.
Kris Cooper, at this point, couldn’t be bothered with jealousy. He stood by Andre’s side, looking at the sheets of meaningless test results and then at Andre’s flawless, enigmatic face.
"How is it?!"
Andre Colin put down the CT image in his hand and looked up at Kris Cooper, "Cooper, I’d like you to step out for a moment."
"Why?!"
Andre Colin slightly raised an eyebrow, "Because I’m the doctor, I need to speak with the patient alone."
"Fine, I’ll go out!" Kris Cooper glared at him and turned to leave the ward.
Andre Colin smiled and placed his arms on the table, "Vera, I heard from Cooper that you suffered a head injury before. Have you ever experienced headaches or dizziness frequently?"
"I..." Vera hesitated a bit.
Andre Colin kindly smiled, "I’m a doctor. I will keep your privacy and secrets safe. For a better recovery, I hope you’ll be open with me."
Vera nodded, "Yes, and... it’s not just that. Sometimes, I have hallucinations too."
"Hallucinations?" Andre Colin mused briefly, "Let me give you an example. Is it like... when you see a scene, a similar scenario appears in your mind?"
"Yes, that’s how it feels." Vera pursed her lips, "Previous doctors said I... might have schizophrenia."
"No!" Andre Colin shook his head with a smile, "That’s not it. Those aren’t hallucinations; they’re your memories, your previous memories. Didn’t you lose your memory? Actually, it’s not exactly amnesia, more like a memory disorder. Everyone experiences this kind of situation. It’s like now if I ask you about what happened three days ago, you can’t remember every detail. It’s just that yours is more severe than usual people."
Hearing his calm words, Vera felt much more relaxed.
"Then... can it be cured?"
Although, when her father was still around, he and her grandmother used to tell her many stories from the past, and she also saw many old family photos.
But those stories always felt like someone else’s, losing sixteen years of memory is like losing the entire past, leaving a sense of loss and incompleteness, a feeling of having no place to belong.
"In theory, yes, but the human brain is a very complex organ. We are still studying it, so I can’t absolutely guarantee that I can help you retrieve all your memories." Andre Colin reached out, patting her hand like an older brother, "I’ll do my best to help you."
Vera smiled, "Director Andre, I feel... you seem very familiar, as if we’ve known each other before."
Andre Colin retracted his hand and smiled too, "And Cooper, how do you feel when facing him?"
