CHAPTER 160: CHAPTER 160 I ACCEPT YOUR CONFESSION (1)

Vera Wave looked speechless. "Don’t tell me you don’t eat beef. I saw you eat steak last time."

Kris Cooper raised an eyebrow mildly. "Steak is pan-fried; this is boiled. Are they the same?"

Kris Cooper understood Vera Wave; he knew she was proud deep down. This was the only way he could get her to eat the meat without feeling like she owed him anything.

He’s so hard to please. If I had known, I would have simply ordered a regular bowl without meat and saved a few bucks.

Vera Wave pouted, picking the meat out of his bowl piece by piece. "And the greens? You’re not eating those either?"

Kris Cooper leisurely watched the greens on her chopsticks. "Not eating them!"

She had no choice but to transfer the greens into her own bowl as well, then pushed the bowl, which now contained only broth and noodles, back to him. She then served him as if he were a lord, handing him a pair of disposable chopsticks.

"These are the only chopsticks available here, so you’ll just have to make do!"

The man was a CEO worth billions; he couldn’t possibly be used to eating in such small eateries. She was genuinely worried he wouldn’t be able to stomach these noodles.

As it turned out, her worries were needless. Kris Cooper took the chopsticks and started eating, showing no signs of disdain.

Vera Wave breathed a sigh of relief and put a piece of beef from her bowl into her mouth.

The Advertising Department’s workload was always heavy. Recently, the company had launched several new projects, so this was likely their busiest time. He was a bit worried the young woman might not be suited for such intense work.

"How are you settling into the job?"

"It’s going well. I like challenging work."

Kris Cooper nodded his chin towards the documents on the table. "What’s your take on this project?"

Vera Wave swallowed the beef in her mouth. "I think this is an image-building project for the company. It probably won’t make much money, but it can enhance the company’s image."

Kris Cooper nodded. "Good, you’re on the right track. Just focus on developing the advertising in that direction."

"Actually, I have an idea..." Vera Wave lifted her face to look at Kris Cooper. "Can I run it by you, and you can give me some feedback?"

As Kris Cooper lifted a mouthful of noodles to his lips, he looked up, a hint of mischief in his charming eyes. "What’s in it for me?"

Vera Wave rolled her eyes. "Nothing!"

A smile played on the man’s lips. "Alright, since I’ve eaten your noodles, I feel a bit obliged. I’ll hear you out."

Vera Wave grinned, immediately laying out her entire idea.

Her family owned a real estate enterprise. As her father’s only daughter, she had been carefully nurtured. During holidays, she was often asked to help at the company and had spent time in various departments, so she was naturally familiar with the ins and outs of the business.

As Kris Cooper listened to the young woman succinctly yet earnestly explain her creative idea, he nodded along.

Indeed, sending her to Ashton was a wise move. Her strengths were undoubtedly on full display.

"So, what do you think?!"

Kris Cooper nodded, not stingy with his praise. "Not bad. It looks like our company has added another tiger to its ranks."

As Vera’s gaze swept over the noodles on his chopsticks, she was about to remind him that there was still a piece of beef mixed in when Kris Cooper put the noodles into his mouth, his expression unchanging.

Noticing this, Vera Wave raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint appearing in her eyes.

After their meal, the two walked out of the ramen shop together. Vera Wave animatedly told him about her concepts for the promotional video as they walked, while a faint smile constantly played on Kris Cooper’s lips.

From their reunion until that evening, this was the first time he had seen such a unique radiance on her face.
