CHAPTER 190: CHAPTER 191: IF NOT FOR LOVING YOU (3)
No matter where Vera Wave goes, she always needs to come home, so she might as well wait for her there.
As soon as Kris Cooper drove out of the Ashton Real Estate parking lot, his phone rang. Seeing the unfamiliar number, he reached out to answer the call.
"Is this Mr. Cooper? Your instrument has been repaired."
Upon hearing this news, a smile appeared at the corner of Kris Cooper’s lips.
"Great, I’ll be right over."
...
...
Ashton Real Estate.
Vera Wave sneaked out from the main gate of Ashton Real Estate and quickly walked into the Subway Station, taking the metro heading to the hospital.
She stopped by the restaurant near the hospital to buy a serving of dumplings that Grandma Wave loves. Vera carefully wrapped the dumplings in her coat and made her way to the ward.
"Grandma, look what delicious thing I brought you!"
She walked into the ward with a smile. As she lifted her face, she saw a tall figure sitting beside the old lady’s bed, attentively feeding her porridge.
"Nathan Leafcastle?" Vera hurried over, putting down her bag and the dumplings, "Let me do it, it’s too much trouble for you."
"It’s okay, it’s almost finished." Nathan Leafcastle turned to smile at her, then gently brought the spoon to Grandma Wave’s lips, "Grandma, here... open your mouth!"
Grandma Wave cooperated obediently and swallowed the porridge as she sighed.
"This cook must still be the old chef from Lucky Restaurant. The ones Vera brought before just didn’t taste right... Oh, a chef should be old to be good!"
Vera listened, feeling helpless inside. With her current financial situation, she couldn’t afford porridge from Lucky Restaurant for Grandma.
"If you like it, I’ll bring it for you next time." Nathan Leafcastle raised his hand to wipe the old lady’s lips, "Do you want more?"
"No, I’m full." Grandma Wave shook her head, her face full of smiles, "Little Kris understands, always has, he’s not like our Vera, who is quite mischievous! I remember that time, she broke the vase and feared I’d get angry, so she had you take the blame for her..."
"That’s not true, Grandma." Nathan Leafcastle set down the empty bowl, "I took the blame for her willingly, it wasn’t Vera who asked me to."
"You just indulge her..." Grandma Wave turned to look at Vera again, "Vera, tell the doctor I want to be discharged... It’s soon going to be warm, my flowers need tending, otherwise... they won’t bloom well in the summer..."
Vera knew she was talking about the flowers in the garden of the old house. Thinking of the uncertain status of the old house, her mood grew more somber.
Nathan Leafcastle noticed Vera’s expression and smiled, "Grandma, don’t worry. I’ll go help trim the flowers. You can trust me, right?"
"Of course... definitely trust you!" Grandma Wave smiled and patted his shoulder, "Then you both hurry up, Vera, you take little Kris with you. And remember, ask Kendrick to clean the fish pond properly."
"Okay." Vera managed a smile and agreed, "I also bought you some dumplings. If you get hungry, ask Mrs. Li to heat them up for you."
"Don’t worry about me, hurry and go..."
"You haven’t eaten yet, have you?" Nathan Leafcastle stood up, giving Vera a gentle smile, "Let’s go out and get something to eat."
"Alright." Vera nodded, walked over, and adjusted Grandma Wave’s blanket, "Rest well, we’re heading out now."
"Go ahead then!"
Grandma Wave just waved them off with a smile.
Vera gave Mrs. Li a few instructions before leaving together with Nathan Leafcastle.
