CHAPTER 202: CHAPTER 203: MARRIAGE, ENGAGEMENT OR COHABITATION (1)
That night, Vera Wave slept deeply while Kris Cooper struggled with insomnia.
Originally, he had planned to surprise her on her birthday and use those memories to stimulate her lost ones, helping her regain them. He had never imagined things would take such a turn.
Gazing at the girl’s flushed face under the dim night light, he gently brushed his fingers over her cheek, pulling the thin blanket up over her shoulders.
His gaze caught on something glinting on the blanket. Kris Cooper then reached up, taking hold of the two rings hanging from the chain around his neck. He unfastened the chain’s clasp, removed the smaller ring, and carefully lifted her hand, slipping the ring onto her left ring finger.
Her fingers had not changed much, and the ring still fit perfectly.
He carefully held her small hand and brought it to his lips for a kiss. A faint smile touched the corners of Kris Cooper’s mouth as his fingertips gently stroked the back of her hand.
At this rate, she should be marrying him soon.
His gaze swept over the small face pressed against his chest, and a roguish smile played on Kris Cooper’s lips. If necessary... he would just have to try harder for a shotgun wedding.
He gently removed the ring from her finger, put it back on the chain around his neck, tucked Vera Wave’s hand under the blanket, and embraced her as he closed his eyes.
...
...
The next morning, Vera Wave woke up sometime after eight o’clock.
Opening her eyes to see his bare chest in front of her and her skin pressing against his body, Vera Wave’s face flushed crimson, and she quickly recoiled.
Just as she moved, a soft kiss was placed on her forehead.
"Good morning."
Looking up at an awake Kris Cooper, she quickly lowered her eyes again, pulling the blanket further up.
"Good morning... What time is it?"
"A quarter past seven."
"What?!" Vera Wave immediately bristled, hastily sitting up from his embrace. She leaned down to pick up her clothes that had fallen to the floor, mumbling, "I’m doomed... doomed, I’m definitely late!"
"I can call in sick for you."
"No..." Vera Wave turned around, anxiously gripping his arm. "We’re officially starting work today, I can’t take a day off!"
Kris Cooper looked down, his gaze falling upon her chest, which bore his marks. Suppressing the desire to tease her thoroughly again, he reached out to help her fasten her bra.
"Get dressed and freshen up. I’ll take you there."
Vera Wave blushed and thanked him, quickly pulling on her clothes. Seeing him lift the blanket as if to get out of bed, she bolted out of the bedroom while still fastening her buttons—she just didn’t have the courage to look at his body.
By the time she had quickly freshened up and come out of the bathroom, Kris Cooper had already put on his pants and shirt and was walking out of his bedroom door, holding his coat.
"Let’s go."
Vera Wave quickly grabbed her laptop and documents and followed him out of the room. When she saw the heavy lock on her own apartment door across the hall, she frowned and hurried up the stairs.
After coming back downstairs, she settled into the passenger seat of his car. Just as Vera Wave had fastened her seatbelt, Kris Cooper spoke.
"I’ll arrange for your things to be moved to the Mansion. You can live there from now on."
"But..." Vera Wave fiddled with the documents in her hand. "Are we... moving in together already?"
He smiled.
Initially, he just wanted her to move in. But since she mentioned cohabiting, well, cohabiting it was.
"You don’t want to?"
"I... I just feel... living together before marriage... isn’t that a bit much?"
