CHAPTER 204: CHAPTER 205 DO YOU THINK I’M DIRTY?
Vera Wave stared at the steaming hot breakfast in her hand, a look of utter surprise on her face.
She had been to this shop before. This should be the busiest time with long queues. How did he manage to buy it so quickly?
Kris Cooper smirked and started the car.
"Starting now, you should be able to finish eating by the time we reach the office."
He didn’t want to explain how he had gotten the breakfast; those details weren’t important. What mattered was that she could enjoy her meal properly without worrying about being late.
As the car moved forward, Vera opened the bag and began to eat.
She brought the sandwich from the bag to her lips, her mouth opening slightly. Then, she paused, turning to look at the bag in her hand. There was only one serving of breakfast inside.
Glancing at the sandwich in her hand, she turned to him, offering it toward his mouth.
"I’m not hungry. You eat."
"We’ll split it."
She held up the sandwich, her tone adamant.
Kris Cooper gave her a sidelong glance, then bent down and took a small bite from her sandwich.
"The egg is overcooked, and the bread is burnt. I don’t want it. You can have it."
Vera pulled the sandwich back and took a bite herself.
What was he talking about? Eggs were best when they were eighty percent cooked, and the bread was toasted just right... This guy, such a picky eater!
She grumbled inwardly. A moment later, she turned her head again and noticed the hint of a smile playing on Kris Cooper’s lips as he drove. Suddenly, a thought struck her.
This guy... he didn’t do this on purpose, did he?
Biting into her sandwich, she discreetly observed Kris Cooper driving beside her. Recalling the time they had eaten noodles together, she became even more certain of her suspicion.
"Kris Cooper, did... did you do this on purpose?!"
"’On purpose?’" Kris Cooper pulled the car over to the side. "What do you mean by ’on purpose’?"
The little girl stared at his face with sparkling eyes. "You’re not actually that picky. You just deliberately gave me the food, right?"
"I..."
"No lies."
Kris Cooper shrugged.
"Alright, I admit it... I was in such a rush that I forgot to buy my own portion." He gave her an indulgent smile, then reached over to gently brush a sesame seed from the corner of her mouth. "Ashton Building is just through this little path. You have ten minutes, which is more than enough time. No need to hurry; you can take a leisurely walk over."
Warmth spread through the little girl’s heart; she was deeply touched. She immediately offered him the sandwich she had partially eaten.
"Here, you have it!"
"Silly girl, I can eat when I get back to the office. Go on, now. You’re starting work today, aren’t you? Go for it!"
The little girl raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying it’s dirty because I ate from it?"
"Okay, I’ll eat it!" Kris Cooper reached over and took the half-eaten sandwich from her hand. "I don’t want the milk, though. I really don’t like drinking it."
Only then did the little girl’s lips curve into a satisfied smile. She pushed open the car door, then turned back and planted a MWAH! on his face. Closing the door, she waved to him before walking into the alleyway, holding her warm milk.
Watching her jaunty steps, Kris Cooper chuckled softly. He steered the car back into traffic and drove to the Ashton Building’s parking garage. Clutching the half of the sandwich she had left behind, he walked into the elevator.
"Mr. President!"
Tommy Taylor, who had just arrived, saw this and quickly hurried a few steps to catch up and enter the elevator with him.
Upon entering the elevator, he saw his boss holding a sandwich that was bitten down to only half, a wide, radiant smile gracing his features.
Tommy Taylor looked at his expression, then back at the sandwich in his hand.
"Mr. President... did something happen?"
