Kylo Sail could hardly believe her own eyes and ears; a mere new recruit already had her own office.

Of course, what she couldn’t stand the most was that Vera Wave’s office was even better than hers.

Her own office wasn’t a proper room, but merely a space sectioned off from the Planning Department with glass walls. The manager’s former office, however, was not only a real room but also superior in both location and size. It even had a small private restroom. This clearly placed Vera Wave a cut above her.

Kylo Sail, sensitive as she was, sensed another layer of meaning in this.

Recently, there had been rumors that Kate Palmer was going to resign. If that happened, the manager would surely be promoted to Director. With Vera Wave moving into the manager’s office, could it be they were preparing to promote that young woman to Manager?

I’ve toiled diligently at Ashton for so many years! How can I be outdone by a rookie who just walked in the door? I can’t accept this!

Her face changed instantly, and she shot a jealous glance at Vera Wave. "On what grounds?"

Vera Wave heard the hostility in her tone but didn’t want to argue.

"This was the manager’s decision. If you have any objections, you should take them up with the manager. We have things to do. Goodbye."

That audacious brat! Daring to use the manager to pressure me?

Kylo Sail secretly gritted her teeth. She turned, walked out of the office, and said in a deliberately passive-aggressive tone, "I suppose I really am getting old. Nowadays, as long as a young woman is young and has a bit of a pretty face, she can get anything!"

Her words seemed self-deprecating, but everyone could hear the insinuation: she was accusing Vera Wave of using improper means to get ahead.

"You..." Merlin Bradley was choked with anger. "What nonsense are you spouting?"

Vera Wave hadn’t intended to engage with her. However, Kylo Sail’s remarks were too offensive, and Vera Wave wasn’t one to take such insults lying down.

She walked over, took Merlin Bradley’s arm, and lifted her chin. A smile touched the corners of her lips as she stood before Kylo Sail.

"Planner Sail, you’re being too modest. You’re not old at all. Your face is so well-maintained, you only look to be in your thirties."

Kylo Sail was only twenty-nine. For Vera Wave to say she looked like she was in her thirties clearly implied she thought Kylo Sail was actually even older.

Merlin Bradley burst out laughing.

What woman likes to be told she looks old, especially with ’compliments’ like that? Kylo Sail’s face instantly turned livid.

"Vera Wave, let me tell you, you..."

"I’m sorry, Auntie Sail, perhaps you can educate me some other day. I’m rather busy right now." Vera Wave interrupted her, still smiling sweetly. "Xiaoya, could you help me write a sign to hang on the door later?"

At the words "Auntie Sail," the suppressed laughter in the office finally erupted.

Wang, who had been giggling under her desk, managed to look up, still trying to suppress her laughter. "Vera, what should the sign say?"

Vera Wave smiled. "Just write, ’No Entry for Bitches and Mad Dogs’!"

Kylo Sail was so furious she felt like she could grind her teeth to dust, but there was nothing she could do.

She wasn’t a fool. If she confronted Vera Wave about this, Vera would undoubtedly claim she was talking about *actual* bitches and mad dogs, not her, Kylo Sail. Wouldn’t that be as good as openly admitting she *was* a ’bitch and a mad dog’?

Taking a deep breath to suppress the violent urge to slap Vera Wave, Kylo Sail spun around, stalked into her own office, and slammed the door shut.

Slinging her bag over her shoulder, Vera Wave strode out of the Planning Department.

Merlin Bradley immediately chased after her, still laughing. "Vera, that was brilliant! Did you see Kylo Sail’s face? Hahaha... Oh my god, I need to laugh for a minute... That was so satisfying, I’m dying of laughter! I bet you made her so furious she’s got internal injuries!"
